I believe we voted to leave , with or without a deal.
That was made very clear to us by the remain parties.
We would be leaving everthing........ But. I honestly don't
Think we'll leave. All the established powers that be, don't
Want it, so it won't happen. Proof if needed that you vote means
Nothing, it's worthless , so why bother voting ever again ?
This year I hope all politicians stay away from the cenotaph, as
Those people died for democracy, and that too has been killed
By this generation of politicians.

Let's keep in mind, that the Hard Brexiteers voted against leaving with any kind of deal, so the argument that "They" don't want the UK to leave is totally rubbish.
It's the Brexiteers who stopped Brexit with a Deal!

That's not strictly accurate, the hard Brexiteers number about 80 mp's, the withdrawal agreement lost by a significantly larger amount.
There are still many (I don't have the numbers), but they are to blame more than just going the populist way and say "They" don't want the UK to leave (by clearly meaning and blaming the EU.)
And that aside I find it remarkable, that Brexiteers voted down the better offer (vote 2 with the political reassurances) and then partly convinced themselves to vote in favour for the worse 3rd one. That's just one aspect of the madness that we are seeing in these days.
If the parliament would vote to leave, the UK would leave, so they are the only ones to blame and nobody else.
Everything else is legendbuilding.

I agree, and I've said similar for a long time. I don't think it's madness, it's just become overly complicated and confusing due to members of parliament either chasing their own agendas (and therefore not the ones they were voted in for) or towing party lines (against a democratic vote and their own vote bribing manifesto) so we continue to see parliament as a the huge debacle it has become.
The original job of Parliament was straight forward following the referendum result. 1, negotiate the withdrawal agreement that limits impact on both the UK and the EU member states.
2, negotiate the future uk/EU relationship
Done in an orderly fashion.
Many or our mps are a disgrace
And let me add, that while I find her a horrible person, I feel a bit bad for Theresa May.
She's definitely on a Mission Impossible, she knows that her time is up as PM but she stays because it's her duty.
On the other hand - as I have said, she made the mistake to keep the UK in the illusion that Brexit will be easy and that the UK will be the bright winner out of it. She should have told the people the truth 3 years ago.
And her negotiation strategy attempting to play EU countries against each other, did not only fail, it was nasty.

Latest poll in the Express gives a result of 75%
For a No deal Brexit . as ever the politicians are
Right in step with the voters )
Why would a population wish that for themselves?
Yes, I want to wait for hours every time to cross a border. I also want all commercial traffic to have to wait for hours at the border and pay high customs fees, especially agriculture. I also want no agreement on how to deal with the many things we've done within the EU system, small and big. It should all be up in the air. This includes the status of EU members in Britain and British citizens in the EU. And yes, the border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic has been far too calm and unproblematic for years now. I want a hard border!
I'm probably being too sarcastic, but I don't see why people would want that. Leaving the EU, yes, but not leaving without any treaty.
Parliament has passed a motion to stop a No deal, so it's not
Going to happen, although oddly enough. It's the EU who is
Scared stuff of a no deal Brexit, as it will Really hurt the EU. Hence
Why so much effort was put in to getting it removed as an option.

I quite like Bercow. He offers somewhat of a perochial figure, which is often quite entertaining.
