    I'm sorry to hear that Lq. I've heard that Tom Ford employees can give very bad service sometimes, so it doesn't surprise me, unfortunately. One would expect much better. Sounds like they fixed the sleeves for you rather quickly at least.

    My closest TF store is 4 hours away, so I'm not sure when I will get the chance to get out there. Does anybody know if we can just send it to the store or if it would be a good idea to get my local tailor to shorten the sleeves? I appreciate any advance, as this is my first TF clothing purchase.
    I've been following this thread with great interest. I unfortunately missed the order deadline, but I am a frequenter of the Beverly Hills Boutique and I know a few of the associates there who do their best to be very accommodating...but I always get tailoring done in person. Plus, Its a bonus to get the whole experience (if you know the right sales associate, sadly as they should have a much higher degree of consistency). You could take it to your local tailor, but I would take more comfort in knowing that the TF tailors have it and if anything were to happen, you'd be taken care of. Love seeing all of the pictures of everyone's jackets! They look AMAZING! Cheers -{

    Thanks for the advice brother. I much agree, going to TF to get it done will be the best way to do it. -{

    Couldn't be happier with the sizing! Usually a 52, took a 52. Chest still feels nice and fitted, waist is very comfortable (left on the looser button in the photo, could go to the tighter one though), sleeves are a great length and it feels excellent left open, perfect say for going out to a bar -{ ...or for throwing back a cold one at home after a very long Monday at work!

    So today I have had contact with Luigi who is going to be at the Tom Ford Sloane Street store tomorrow at 3 PM I've asked him to help their Tailor out and let the waistband out by 1 cm on each side hopefully they can do this .
    If like me you have the latest Royale Harrington you will notice that with the side tabs on the waistband is split into two half's that giving you the extra couple of centimetres wiggle room .
    As I explain to Luigi apart from the sleeves being slightly too long the jacket which they are tailoring at Tom Ford store it fits perfectly everywhere except the waistband .

    My 54 arrived. Super happy with sizing (usual TF size). No way could I have sized down, this is a very nice fitted jacket, perfect balance.

    Many thanks to Simon for getting this crazy huge project off the ground, guess prob the biggest project on here to date!!!

    If not in numbers, certainly in dollar amount. This is the biggest GMTO I have seen. I think it's probably bigger than even the biggest single sale on Massdrop.

    About $320. So all in about $2,000 for the jacket.

    Wow, much higher than I was expecting. I wonder if it will change depending on the state it's delivered to.

    There it is! I'll take it off the "tick-box" list JTM. Looks awesome on you mate, and love how your version of Bond will be entering through the window, taking down the villain and taking home the girl, BUT after I finish this cool beer first!

    Got my customs bill from FedEx. Around half of what MattB's was. However, the bill did not show that the $800 personal exemption was applied, so I filed a dispute with the broker. It will take up to three months to come to a determination.

    Hi Lq sorry to hear about your trouble with TF. I hope they can sort it for you. Did they say how long the tailoring would take? I'm thinking of taking my jacket into Sloane Street to get the sleeves shortened.

    Turns out Fed-Ex charged me for the wrong item. I've had extraordinary poor customer service and in summary they will not refund me the difference. I actually had one person tell me that I should have disputed the charge before I paid it... didn't know that it was incorrect..try disputing all bills you get (cable, rent, etc) and see if you have time for anything else ha ha!

    The c.s. rep at FedEx at their duty and customs division had trouble understanding terms like personal use exemption and currency conversion. :#

    I had checked out the styleforum thread on the subject and was expecting a FedEx screw up. Kinda why I was hoping the jacket shipped DHL. I looked over the form their broker submitted to customs and saw the percentage was for the total cost of the jacket, not the pro-rated cost.

    The dispute will take up to three months to adjudicate. I don't pay anything until then.

    Very interesting Westward_Drift. I will look at my bill when it arrives. If I am understanding you correctly, the custom fees are a percentage of the total cost of the Jacket less the $800 personal exemption. If my bill does not include the personal exemption, then I can contest the fee rate and FedEx will review my dispute and adjust if necessary. If all that is correct, I just have two questions:

    - how did you file your dispute?
    - do you have an estimation of the correct amount we should be paying, or is that calculation highly subject to local economic influences.

    Thanks for bringing this issue to light! -{

    As I understand it there is no customs/duties for single shipments for personal use items where the cost is under $800. I've gotten shoes from the UK without any duties. Therefore duties should only be charged on value over $800. (BTW eyeglasses/sunglasses are classified as medical supplies so chargeable on its total value.)

    I called the phone number on the FedEx bill, was transferred to their customs and duties department, and said the exemption should have been applied. I asked the c.s. rep to file a dispute with the broker. The broker who pre-pays the duties has no way of knowing it was for personal use. I am expecting an email from the broker asking for clarification as the c.s. rep didn't quite grasp what I was saying.

    They charged me 9.4% + $6.50 carriage fee. The percentage may change based on the state you are in (state use taxes, etc). I'm looking at probably $97-100 total should I win the dispute.

    Does anyone have a nice clean image of their jacket (preferably up against a white background) We can use for our instagram page? We would give photo credit, of course.

    OK, received my Fed Ex bill today....$175.00

    I noticed no $800 consideration so I called them...they cited that it was checked off as commercial goods and NOT personal use, not for resale so they said it would not be considered. They pointed out there should be a sheet in my packet that has the check offs and sure enough there it was. Soooooo, does that mean because TF checked off commercial goods we wont be able to receive this consideration?

    If TF Milan messed up they can either resubmit an amended customs form or refund me $85.

    David, perhaps you can email Luigi about this. This error affects all the US buyers.

    We have retail tags for the jackets. Proof of retail purchase.
