No, not really. The whole movie was a parody/love letter to a lot of things, including 70's disco and Blacksploitation. As such the movie and the song did a decent job. It doesn't really representerer most of her songs.
Beyonce made a disco song for a movie about (among other things) 70's disco 15 years ago, so she would be completely wrong for Bond title song singer for the rest of her life. It all makes sense now....
having recently seen Atomic Blonde, and with the memory of Fury Road still fresh...
if Charlize Theron were the next Bond-girl, Craig would be left holding her stilletos for her while she did all the asswhupping
and why not? his Bond is getting rather elderly and tired of all that senseless violence, to quote the great Cosmo Kramer "why not let her do all the work?"
and if folks're going to suggest Liz Hurley and Beyoncé Knowles, I vote Heather Graham, the best of all the Powers-girls. I understand her character wasn't required for the new Twin Peaks revival, so she could probably use the work
Beyoncé Knowles's name has popped up. If true, I'd not be disappointed...
Neither would I. But it seems some members here are very much against it, and I simply can't understand why.
Me neither. She can be a tremendously powerful yet accurate performer, and could cover both a classic Bond ballade as well as more aggressive strings. She even has the right look for a cameo, I could add...
thinking more about Charlize Theron...
we shouldn't base our expectations of her on the ultraviolence shown in Atomic Blonde, after all she is an actress and has range
what else has she done that we suggests potential as a Bondgirl?
answer: season 3 of Arrested Development, she plays Rita Leeds, Michael Bluth's love interest, a mysterious woman with a sexy British accent introduced in the episode For British Eyes Only
she is usually accompanied by Mr. F, a sinister older man played by SCTV's Dave Thomas, who has some unspoken control over her, and when we see them together a pastiche of John Barry type music is played in the soundtrack
(Theron's accent sounds good, Thomas's sounds like a deliberately bad parody he might have done on SCTV)
the implication is the two are some sort of exciting spies, the final revelation is quite different https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95QeRGbVqBY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk6EAfo2eyQ
also Wikipedia tells me she once played the part of Britt Ekland in a Peter Sellers bio-pic, that's relevant experience, right?
Makes sense that they would try and get Beyonce. Besides Adele she's probably the biggest solo female act in the world. Having said that though it's important to get someone who is right for the Bond theme, and not just a huge name. Otherwise you could get Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Mylie Cryus, anyone. And they would not be the right fit for Bond. So we'll see. Won't complain if it's her but hoping it's somebody else

This forum isn't exactly comprised with Beyonce's key demographics, it's not too surprising. )
I imagine she would do a good job, but she is a little too big of a name for the job.
I wasn't too impressed with Beyonce's latest efforts and I'm worried she might do a Madonna and bring up some some half-baked effort sitting in her shelf (or these days on her I-Pad). But that's just me. She could do a belter though. So I could be wrong.
My fave for the job is the New Zealand singer Lorde. I reckon she could do a classic.

I think what we need is another David Arnold song. He did so well with "Surrender" (the real Tomorrow Never Dies), "The World Is Not Enough" and "You Know My Name". With him in control rather than the singer, we won't get another Madonna disaster. Most of the classic Bond tracks like "Goldfinger", "Thunderball", "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Nobody Does It Better", didn't rely as much on the performer as they did on the composer. We need a great singer who knows how to interpret a song written by a proper Bond composer. Madonna should never have been allowed to write her own Bond song. David Arnold should have written the song he wanted to write for the movie and maybe had her sing it.

I take your point about the demographics, but for years I presented a show (at one point two shows) on local radio so am not totally unfamiliar with her work (and that of others, eg Lorde).

Totally agree!
Was listening to Surrender today and thinking about how fantastic the song is. And how disappointing it was to only be in the end credits. Not sure if it was actually a contender for QOS but Shirley Bassey's No Good about goodbyes is a superb Bond song written by David Arnold.

I'm in the Lorde camp also. Young, fresh, individual and compelling. Hoping for something other than a Ballad this time, something with some guts and spark.

The World is Not Enough is my favorite Arnold/artist collaboration. I'd be more than happy if a song in that style was used. I'm in agreement that Lorde could pull it off and bring something interesting to the mix.

This is pretty on the mark, Matt. We saw this again with Sam Smith and Spectre - weird lyrics that really don't fit Bond as a character, but rather an angst filled teen who listens to pop ballads.

The Madonna-Die Another Day fiasco was a huge missed opportunity in my opinion. Strange as it may see, whoever visits always points to my displayed Vanquish model car saying that they remember DAD because of the Madonna song.
I (obviously) agree that we should have another Arnold song for the next film and the fact they haven't already signed him up for the next one is just letting talent go unused.
He's clearly willing and on top of making badass scores, he loves the movies. What more could the producers ask for?
a reasonable rate of return

But do they remember the song for good or bad reasons?
In the context of the opening titles - and what goes on therein - I think it works...otherwise it's bloody rubbish )
I would much prefer unknown talent, or at least someone who is new to the British and American audience.
I agree and I would love it to be me, newie, sultry exotic looking Brit, with assault course and acting experience, gritty not just pretty! Licensed to thrill, lol. ) -{
100% Laura Mvula should cover the Bond 25 theme song, infact i’d be surprised if she is not announced for it. She openly admits to wanting to do it and has a voice similar to dear Shirley. She also has the edge of Grace Kelly.
For Bond girl how about Jameela Jamil (can't get photo link to work sorry) She is gorgeous with a lovely cut glass RP accent.) At 5ft 9 barefoot Daniel would need stilts. Maybe for the next actor. Check her out in the wonderful The Good Place with Ted Danson.

Agreed- she's got a good voice, and "Green Light" was a good song.
+1.

Meaning it causes the viewer the same pain Bond experiences when he's being tortured?
Also, yes.

It would be a dream of a role.
Bond girl suggestion would be Jodie Turner-Smith
