LALD 5513 Submariner Replica for display

Hello all,

I'm looking for a 5513 only for display prupose with a LALD CO2 bullet. Submariner gen watch being not in the investment planning for now, I m searching a good replica.

Do you have advice or feedback about good replica seller/shop (e.g . http://swisstimex.com/rolex-submariner-5513-p-30130.html) ?

Fakes of any kind - in particular fake watches are produced and distributed by organised crime and help to finance terrorism X-(

Just as an example - the guys who murdered the priest in France got their money by selling all kind of fake products.

I totally agree with with you that traffics of fake feeds crime/terrorism etc. !! Even if from my point of view it s never so black or white.
(no comment bzgl. Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray madness... sad world we re living in)

To come back to the topic, I m love good movement/chronograph and cannot wait to earn my 300M!! But to display or work/butcher to make Prop, 7kEur would end my marriage! 8-) Is there any less bad alternative?

Agree with you on that one M. Higgins!
I'm spending my spare time reporting fake Rolex on ebay...there are so many of them.

I'm guessing the link at Post #2 was meant to get the replica Submariner modified into a working LALD saw 5513.

I don't see a problem with buying a replica for use as a prop. Most of our 'props' and a lot of our clothing are replica's..

Having said that, I don't have an answer for the OP.
But I like where you're going with your replica prop display idea.

Big difference between fakes and replicas. As far as I know, no clothing replicas are faking labels and trademarks on their items. A replica has no trademark and branding infringement. Fakes do.

    Fair point.
But if you waned a replica prop, a replica no longer made watch is surely a good place to start?
Nobody here would start with a real 5513 to make a replica prop, surely.... ?
  • Alex1995Alex1995 France/GermanyPosts: 340MI6 Agent
There is room for debate on the topic... It s surely easier to make a working prop/display prop with an original 6EUR Saitek Joystick(GE mine) or an original 200EUR WGP marker-if u find it- (GE piton gun) but use a 7kEUR Rolex feels wrong... :D

I think it s kind of grey area. The link at Post #2, if referring to the working Doodanjaq_0ff s LALD saw 5513, was apparently made by Scarramanga037 and was, if I got it right, not based on an original watch.

Here, a working one made by Jamster based as well on a replica:
    http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/36484/lald-buzz-saw-watch/

Higgins was, by the way, happy to know that no original time keeper was destroy... :D

Please do not take it bad, I m not pointing finger here... Being new in the hobby I m just trying to understand and learn from u guys how to make it or the way to get prop for display only.

** Nevertheless I find this topic and debate pretty interesting!!**

In a nutshell, for the films it's very often the case that real items will be used, the omega watches for instance, or like you say, the saitek joystick base.

It's just quicker, easier and many items like the watches get given to the production under various product placement deals. My biggest gripe being the obvious screen time for them though, one perfect example being the amount of time we get to see bonds omega on his wrist as he drives the digger on the train in skyfall.

Anyway, for people who make replicas it's often very expensive to buy real watches and rip the guts out.

I personally would make it all from scratch using photos, or if I was lucky enough, getting access to a real watch to use as reference.

I get where Higgybum is coming from, but in some cases you have no other option.

If I couldn't borrow a real watch to measure and I didn't know enough accurate sizes then I'd be a bit dead in the water.

It's all about research and sometimes getting a replica watch is the only way forward.

Please note that I gave some additional info regarding the background of fakes.
I did not tell the OP what to do or not.

I did not demand, that the OP used a real watch and gut it out for his replica.
I'd never buy a fake watch but can live with it, if someone took a 5513 fake to create a buzz saw watch. For a static replica, I don't know - but tend to dislike it.

If you check some guys on AJB, their entire collection/lifestyle consists of fakes which is hillarious and pathetic at the same time - keeping in mind that those could save some of their money to get the real thing instead of hording fakes and replicas ( when the real deal is still available).

Additionally, we have the guys trying to sell fake watches for genuine watch prices - or even worse - the folks just showing off some pics from fake watches and see if someone identifies it as a fake*

I personally don't enjoy at all what Magnoli does, but have great respect for what MicrobeJeff is doing.

So it's not black or white, but keep in mind that fakes are a very bad thing on several levels.

As for the OP: I may get slapped by Deaton for giving any advise on fake Rolex, but very often pics from online sellers are not showing the item, which you really get in the end.

    * and then be proud that the experts could not see it from their crappy pics X-(

    Thanks for the feedback Higgins.

Once again I hate fraud too and love gen great movements and Time Keepers. I promise to post a pic of a 300M on my wrist once I earned it!! B-)

If we focus here on Prop (for display only/doesnt requiring to work/will never be worn), I got your point regarding the working buzz saw watch and understand that a static one does not require so much butchery but nevertheless... a bit :D

    - Bezel buzz saw shape: cutting at an angle to make it look like a saw
    - Case and hands aging
    - Dial color
    (- Pearl removal
    - Rotor change
    - Correct rivet bracelet
    - Case re-shaping)

Note. it s just a list for Project requirments, I currently do not have the gear to make it but evaluate the needs

    Just to try and give a little balance here...IF the sole intention is to pass the fake off as real - then I agree, it's deplorable X-( ....IF it's more down to cost (ie clothing replicas, prop replicas) then I reckon that it's ok -{

I was just criticising that. People complaining that they have no money and are ammasing fakes instead of being patient and buying only some genuine items. 8-)

I saw the original Rolex 5513 at the Christie's auction couple years ago. It sold for CHF200'000...The Watch has no movement...

    Agree completely.

To try and pass off a fake watch as real is not fooling anyone but yourself.

Like you say though, some items are virtually unobtainable and so people have to settle for the next best thing.

As everyone pretty much knows these days, I make my own bond props because you can't buy many of them anywhere. Only exceptions being the Pysis and the TB breather as FE also made that, but only because they had mine to use as a pattern. The Pysis I'd class as virtually unobtainable as I've seen 3 up for sale in around 6 years.

Many people have suggested I make the golden gun, the attaché case, the dart gun, but these are already available elsewhere, I prefer to go for the impose to get stuff.

As for gadget watches, it sure is easier to use a fake or replica case to fit your own guts to. I guess it's then down to ethics.

I like to be able to say "I made that", as pretty much everything I put out is made by me, I don't like relying on others too much.

So for me it's as much about personal pride and achievement as it is lining the yakuza's pockets.

Shall I ask the doyen of all things related to Bond Watches? I'm sure he'll have some nuggets of information that nobody here has ever heard of, he delights in uncovering exclusive tit bits. I am of course referring the the King , the great Dell Deaton :v

He'll answer, we have a weekly conference call to discuss watches, Bond and Higgy Babe's dress sense. Day glow trainers are a particular favourite topic.
