"I think I would be a good villain in a James Bond movie. They were fairly weak the last half-dozen of villains in James Bond movies. They weren't that convincing."

While I disagree with Herzog's assessment of the latest Bond villains, I do agree he would probably be a great villain himself. Actually—and I'm probably in the minority here—I'd love to see Herzog direct a 007 film. I know it will never happen, but I can imagine him doing a faithful version of YOLT. It would fit in with with Herzog's nature-is-scary ethos as seen in 'Aguirre, Wrath of God' and 'Fitzcarraldo.' If only Klaus Kinski was alive to play Blofeld!

He'd make a better villain than a filmmaker. I'm in the minority among the "academic" set that thinks most of Herzog's films are pretentious and overrated, though some of them are impressive.

I think his part was under-written and ill-conceived. I think he would've been fine if he had been given more to work with. As it was, Blofeld was one of the disappointments of Spectre.

I would have been more for it a few years ago before Herzog's persona had become so memed. I mean I think he'd still be a great Bond villain, but casting him would be following a trend instead of creating one.
