It's amazing what pieces of old tat film folk hold onto upon completion of filming but this is a bit special -{

No point in bidding on this because if EON don't secure it for the Archive?...then they need a new Archivist!

    Oh, sweet!
    That'll go together well with Dr. Evil's chair in my collection

    We need a chair like that in the S&BS for Higgins' next visit.

    Or maybe Mrs Minigeff should think about installing one in MG's shed :D

    That's a great idea, C&D. I think all of the barstools in S&BS should be replaced with genuine screen-used chairs from Bond films. I'm sure there's enough money in the giant plastic dog by the door that people drop their loose change into as they leave.

    BAD NEWS FROM BONHAMS:

    Our apologies for the delay in replying to you.

    I'm afraid lot 51 - the James Bond chair, has been withdrawn from sale. I cannot disclose any more information, other than the fact the vendor has withdrawn it and it will not be included in the auction on the 15th December.

    I think perhaps my nemesis at The Archive didn't want to get outbid again? :(

    Rec'd the same message this morning.
    I presume EON reclaimed their property.

    Do you think that they would have purchased it prior to the chair going up for auction - or because the item was borrowed for the sound recordings did they legally still own it and then claim it back?

    Honestly don't know; historically, though, when other pieces have been withdrawn, it's most often been a challenge over copyright or ownership.
