James Bond since 2006 (The Post-Brosnan era)

I honestly think James Bond starting going downhill after 2002 and should have ended in 2002 at 40.
I think Daniel Craig is the worst James Bond, and the way TPTB have rebooted the James Bond series since 2006, it's just ruined it for me. Daniel Craig doesn't look right for James Bond, the new Felix Leiter doesn't look right either, and neither does the new Moneypenny. Having said that though, I think Ralph Fiennes is good as the new M and I think the new Q (the young one) is quite good and innovative on the positive side too, in stark contrast to the great elderly Q played by the late Desmond Llewellyn.
I think Pierce Brosnan potentially could have been as great as Roger Moore and Sean Connery and stayed on until the late 2000s/early 2010s, starring in possibly 3 more Bond films, along with Samantha Bond continuing as Moneypenny.

It's a bit like entering new friend's house and immediately pooping big on the floor
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
That's a bit harsh... )
Is that why you haven't invited me round to your place yet then ? )
That was after I asked him to take his green trainers off outside, and bow down to the Timothy Dalton statue in the living room.
-Casino Royale, Ian Fleming
I've always wanted to do that!!! Who wants to invite me over?
I disagree with just about everything you just wrote so before each comment I won't start with 'in my opinion'.
Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Connery.
The films went down hill from DAF onwards and not until Casino Royale were they back on track. However, Licence to Kill (despite Dalton) is a very good film.
I can't comment on the new Felix Leiter as I am yet to see Spectre.
Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny is brilliant, she's gorgeous, a good actress and I hope she keeps the role as long as Lois Maxwell did.
Ralph Fiennes is OK but no Bernard Lee.
Pierce Brosnan I agree with you was a good James Bond (third on my list).
Ben Whishaw I like.
I wouldn't call you a "New Friend" with the emphasis on "Friend" ) ) )
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
I think he must mean Jeff Wright as Felix, who isn't in Spectre OGG007....Unfortunately, I like Jeff a lot and hope he returns for bond 25
Higgins, if you pooped on those trainers, would anybody know?
I think when the OP mentions that neither Felix Leiter nor Moneypenny "looked right" we get a fair picture of where he or she is coming from...
Host will pick up on the silent whiff and be much appreciative of the honour you have
Shown to his humble dwelling. The actual pooping, is usually saved for the third date.
Then you are in the **** anyway literally!
Edit: don't you just love it when the fun police change your wording! I meant doodo spelt SH ONE T but I could not have said it better myself!! I think.
Cheers :007)
) very true -{
And I'd hate to incur the wrath of Mrs Higgins

Yep! That comment about Leiter and Moneypenny not looking right said it all for me.
As much as I dislike the Craig era, that comment has prevented me from wanting to agree with the OP on anything. Wright and Harris were perfectly cast, though Harris' Moneypenny has suffered from poor writing.
Jeffrey Wright is a very talented actor, and I have enjoyed his work
outside of Bond, he's fantastic in westworld. As for the beautiful
Miss Harris, I wouldn't have a word said against her, ( I have such a
massive crush on her :x ) although she also is a terrific actor, and infact
has been nominated for a best supporting actress nomination -{
I think the OP of " not looking right" was an obvious attempt to start an
argument but happily with AJB, it turned into some jokes about bottoms, just
the place to stick such outdated and obscene ideas.
Jeff Wright and Naomie Harris have never put a foot wrong in their performances. I lament Felix not being in Spectre, I understand his character didn't fit in Skyfalls story but he would have added another dimension to Spectre, here's hoping he returns to Bond 25.
As for them not looking right? OK in terms of the literary characters no they don't but neither does Fiennes as M or Judi Dench, but Bond in modern times should reflect the diversity we live in....Wright and Harris being cast was spot on.
Lol…okay you probably weren't trying to sound racist but….

As for Daniel Craig, he's okay. His casting saw Bond as less of a fantasy figure, someone less aspirational, less of a man you'd like to be, perhaps, but he's popular with casual Bond fans so you can't argue with that. He's redefined the role for the 21st century.
after Casino Royale, book Leiter only appeared in stories set in the USA or sometimes Jamaica. He's not even in Dr No, and I cant figure out what he was doing overseas in Casino Royale. After he gets mangled by the shark two books in he's not really much use in the Flemingverse either.
movie Leiter I think was always a waste of a character. After Jack Lord turned down the recurring role, Leiter's brief appearance every other movie or so just seemed redundant, maybe exchanging some exposition at the airport but there was nothing in the dialog to indicate Bond and Leiter had any history together, and since he was played by a different actor each time there was really no reason to keep insisting he was the same character
by contrast, Bond's friendship with Kerim Bey, Tiger Tanaka, Tracy's father, Colombo, or other similar types in later movies was much more persuasively depicted
I think Leiter's existence in the books mostly had to do with the emerging threat of the Soviet Union and Fleming drew from his personal experience with Americans during WWII. In fictionalizing the UK's role in the postwar, Fleming actually stretched and reversed the roles of the US and UK respectively in the Cold War, making it seem that the UK (of course from the perspective of Bond and the service) was the vanguard, with the CIA in a support role.
During the real-world timeline of the events surrounding CR, the US in the real world had taken the lead in that effort and Fleming was an insider in the US intelligence leadership, which makes it no surprise why his books reveal an affinity for the Americans and most immediately so in the role and function of Felix Leiter. Compared to Bond's other allies like Kerim and Tanaka, they were more like Bond's counterparts from the UK allied countries whereas Leiter was a peer.
Though no direct proof or reference immediately comes to mind, my theory is that Felix Leiter was inspired wholly or in part by Alan Schneider, a U.S. Navy Intelligence officer who was a close friend, confidant and "partner in crime" of Fleming's during the war. When reading the Leiter portions of the books, one can't help but see this kind of buddy dynamics and the friendship with Schneider sheds light as to why Fleming might have been motivated to nostalgically include those experiences in the Bond stories.
As for Moneypenny, Samantha Bond should have continued in the role.
Bollocks. Roger Moore is the best Bond since Connery. More importantly Moore and Connery were national treasures too. Roger Moore never took Bond too seriously, he was great at charming the women, also, he never hit women and roughed them up like the others did. People say the Aston Martin DB5 was a classic car. I also think the Lotus Espirit was a classic car too. I understand the white Lotus Espirit got blown up in FYEO, but then there was the Red Lotus Espirit. It should be brought back for another 6 bond films, and hopefully a new actor like Aidan Turner or Jamie Dornan (ideally Aidan Turner) for the new James Bond.
The films went downhill from DAD onwards, they couldn't get a proper gunbarrel for their introductions!
Bernard Lee was the best M, I agree, but Robert Brown was the best since. The worst was Judi Dench, Bond's boss M was always a man boss.
The best bonds are Moore, Connery and Brosnan.
2. if you don't think MooreBond hit women and roughed them up, you need to rewatch his first two films. I think he was more physically abusive to women than any other Bond. the scene where he holds the gun to Rosie Carvers head makes me wince
Moore was too rough on Andrea Anders in TMWTGG, but what's the problem with holding a gun to Rosie? She's working for Kananga. What else should he do?
Quantify " the best bonds"?
Bring back the lotus espirit?? What the wedge shaped car with the little engine and the Austin maestro door handles! It's an iconic machine but a modern turbo diesel is quicker and it's just so dated next to a modern sports car.
bonds boss should always be male? Despite the fact mi5 had a female boss. I could go on.....
hey he's the one with the License, he can use it as he sees fit
but it undermines any claim MooreBond was a gentleman who is always respectful to women
he was charming or abusive, as he saw the job required
there's also the human shield incident from Spy, come to think of it
deceiving poor Solitaire out of virginity want so nice either, it cost her a whole career
