Doesn't anyone in Yorkshire knock before entering?

I didn't watch Downton Abbey when it was running, so I borrowed the whole set from my daughter-in-law,,,I've watched 3 seasons so far and it seems to me that the servants and lords and ladies alike don't knock before entering rooms....people are always getting caught doing something they aren't supposed to be doing...

:)) Well it depends on the person, their relationship and which room they're entering, master of the house would not knock on any door unless it's a ladies personal rooms, the butler wouldn't knock, but he wouldn't really be entering a room unless he was summoned or expected.
In my house I don't knock on any door, the children will knock at our bedroom door, I always knock at other peoples houses, whereas my mother in law will just walk straight in to mine..... Which annoys me.
It was either that.....or the priesthood
