Not at all I took a long break myself and have only just started watching them again after around a year. Watched Golden Gun and Spy. Loved watching them. Taking a year out is good for rejuvinating your interest I say -{
Just before Christmas, i started to watch them all in the order that they were released.
Im half way through Octopussy at the moment.
After not watching any of the Roger Moore films for a long time, I must say that I am rather enjoying watching them, despite there faults.
Quantom of solace. Bad bond film. And i think Olga Kurylenko both looks better and acts better in Johnny English Strikes Again, than she did in Quantom.
Finished watching all of the RM films now, and I must say that I have enjoyed them.
Normally when I want to watch a Bond movie I skip these, but having gone through them all I have pleasantly surpised.
My personal favorite of the moore films is Live and Let Die, and my least favorite was Moonraker.
The only downside was that I didnt enjoy The Spy Who Loved Me as much as some of the others, considering this is supposed to be the best of the Moore films.
Its off to watch Tim now.
Working my way through Casino Royale for our next podcast (so it takes a bit more effort than just watching the movie), still one of my favourites but it does tend to drop a few places eveytime I watch it while its successor Quantum of Solace always wins a few spots with every re-watch.
Tomorrow Never Dies' best scene is with Dr Kaufman, it comes alive. The pts maybe should be more exciting than it is, and there's the sense that Arnold is tailoring the score to his big theme song, which only got used at the end. Crowe's song doesn't get utilised in the score much, so it becomes less effective. Arnold does appear to be in a sulk here a bit.
TWINE: My fave Brosnan, but his voice is very knackered and I'd rather watch Layer Cake, it just looks better. Brozzer's third is well scripted and thought out, but it gets bogged down in the storyline a bit and doesn't cut loose enough. It's not great to introduce Carlyle with a lot of boring exposition about sacred stones or what have you.
And if a rather bland handsome actor has to adopt certain mannerisms, I suppose he could do worse than prison warder Mackay in the British sitcom Porridge, with his quizzical, sceptical squints and abrupt turns, but Mackay tended to do that when he was on the verge of being outwitted by the crafty prisoner Fletch, and that seems to be the theme here: our hero Bond being given the runaround by just about everyone, M, Elektra, and even Zhutovsky at one point I think.

Love the Aston in this, however as a bond girl I just don't think that M D'A , as Kara is up there with some of the others.
I do like the way Dalton plays Bond, but the plot has its faults.
But after watching again, I still enjoy the film and it is one of my favorites.

I like it a lot but you are right it is flawed. It was a breath of fresh air after what had come before, but could not quite shake off some of the tropes. Dalton shines though but Kara is a drag.

The Living Daylights. I'm a big fan of the Dalton era and this one is a welcome return to form after AVTAK. It also has the luxury of being a film that's not been done to death on TV here in the UK like the RM and SC eras, so when I put this on it still seems fresh. My only gripe is the Whitaker character who I feel is unnecessary. It's a pity Dalton only got 2 bites at the cherry, on the flip side maybe the gap after LTK helped the Bond franchises popularity.
Casino Royale more or less catapulted me into being obsessed with Bond but I dont really watch it anymore. I always skip over it when its on TV. It's a great film but I'm just never in the mood to revisit it. Anybody else have a Bond film that you love but haven't felt the need to watch in awhile?
Dr No. On TV this afternoon. Really enjoyed it thought Connery was superb, sets fantastic, wonderful location. So fully formed. Wished they had stuck with the last act as the Novel but otherwise very fine indeed.

My son and I watched TWINE recently. It was the best viewing I’ve ever had of it. I really focused on Bronan’s performance this time. Aside from a few moments (“there’s no point in living if you can’t feel aliiiivvveee” and some weird pain face) he is genuinely excellent. I believed he fell for Elektra. Her death scene and the pre-title sequence (particularly that glare he gives after taking out the guards in the office) are standout moments for Brosnan. This fresh viewing made me appreciate Pierce in a way I haven’t for a long time. The movie still has many problems. Christmas Jones shouldn’t be there. I don’t blame Denise Richards for this; the role should just be removed altogether so that Bond and Elektra can be the focus. Renard is cool on paper but they don’t really do enough with him. He is pretty forgettable. The final confrontation between him and Bond is weak. All that said, as a Bond character piece, it’s kind of special. Overall, TWINE had the potential to be great but it disappointingly fell short. Still, I’d now call it my second favorite Brosnan Bond after Goldeneye and my favorite Pierce performance. If, like me, you rarely watch this one, try to give it a new viewing with fresh eyes. I’m glad I did!

Goldeneye is up there being one of my favorite films.
Very much the worst Bond film ever, well, until the next one came along. I'd rate DAD above QoS and SF in terms of 10-15 min entertainment value I guess, as a kind of cheerful rubbish.
Brosnan looked better than I remembered at the time, and the Hong Kong to Cuba section is alright. Have to switch over with the whole 'predators feast' chat up line with Jinx.
Still couldn't much make out what the Cuban sleeper agent is saying.
And the arrival of Gustav Graves also makes this a viscerally repulsive film. Ugh! I don't love to hate him, he makes Rik Mayall's Sir Alan B'stard comedy character seem relatively nuanced.
So I didn't watch much of this, it's really just one thing piled on top of another. It's too much.

The margin between the classic films and the panned films seems to diminish with age. The great ones begin to show their flaws, whereas the scorned ones reveal their merits.
This proved especially true as I enjoyed a double-header of Goldfinger and TMWTGG the other night. (Blu-ray on 100" projector screen)
If GF is considered "the best" and TMWTGG is considered "the worst" I sure don't see that big of a difference in quality between the two. I'd rate GF a 9/10 and I'd rate TMWTGG a 8/10

Over the weekend watched Tomorrow Never Dies
I don't know what is about this film, but I just can't get to really enjoy it.
There is nothing I really dislike, and quite enjoy PB as bond, but it just doesn't do it for me.
I have fond memories of this film from when I was younger, and more than any in the Bond series this reminds of Christmas in the 80s as it always seemed to on TV at that time of year. In terms of the Moore films I think this is just behind For Your Eyes Only as my favourite. Despite it being a riff on You Only Live Twice I think this is entertaining enough. I love the ski opening scene with the iconic Union Jack parachute. Watching it now and the disco score maybe seems a little out of place these days, but growing up with this in the 80’s I never thought that way, but 30+ years later and it sticks out a little I guess.. but I like the score overall. The twist on the Soviet agent is good, clearly they are fully expecting the audience to think that agent XXX is the guy rather than the gorgeous Barbara Bach. The Russians teaming up with Bond to defeat Stromberg is a nice change too.
Its funny watching some of the things in this that instantly date it, like clunky computers, huge push keys and the funny computer noises they used back then. But its very much of its time and the settings are good, in particular Egypt. Jaws is a memorable villain, (even if Stromberg isn’t), the Bond girls are stunning and its got all the ingredients of your typical by the numbers Moore Bond film. Nothing wrong with that for some good old escapism.
I love the ski opening scene with the iconic Union Jack parachute.
If you like that opening you should watch the documentary "McConkey." They interview the Bond stunt man and then Shane McConkey takes that stunt to the next several levels.
I originally didn't like it that much. This is the first watching where it's shot way up in my estimation. it has so much energy and lightness in how it presents the story. It moves at a quick pace but provides so many great character moments. I now rank it above Skyfall and Spectre. Way above. I finally 'get' what makes this movie so amazing.

I put DAF on and i had it on in the background. To tell you the truth, i have been frustrated witgh Bond and not watched a film in ages and i've taken a hiatus from it. Mainly because of setbacks with Bond 25, but also because i want to view the films with fresh eyes. If i want to go back to Bond again and watch a film properly, i'd watch GF.
