Ok - N.Peals are on their way back to them, and my budget alternative just arrived ... $32 on Amazon Goodthreads. I’m much happier with this - normal neck, normal sized patches, nice quality, good fit, oh and $400 cheaper!

How's the size on these? I wanted to buy one but then chickened out because people said the sizing was off.

It’s just large/long ... so I’m usually a medium, and took a small - no big deal if you’re not usually a small I guess!

I'm usually a small or xsmall depending of the fit I want. I guess that's my problem right there on this one.

Sorry for the double post - something went wrong with the first one -
    Definitely size down

Yes, I'm usually a "L" and took a "M" in that same exact model but....I could have taken a "S" because after washing it did became larger :o

At risk of poking the wooly-pully wearing bear, has there been any word from N Peal regarding the shoulder patches and other contentious points?
Yes but my martini's still dry.

call me cynical but I cannot see Npeal will be able to do anything as they will have produced shed loads of these jumpers so to redo them wouldn't be cost effective

Yeah I had thought that might be the case. Perhaps I'll have to wait to see if Reiss, Massimo Dutti or Mango do their own "interpretation" as they have with previous film pieces.

There will be no shortage of pieces out there "inspired" by the N.Peal. The diamond neck shape that strikes a lot of people as odd now will look fashionable in 8 months after the movie is out and other designers have jumped on the bandwagon.

Look what happened to that Solden blouson. That knitwear and insulated design was nowhere before Spectre. I can say that because I — and many others here — searched high and low for alternatives. (You can read the old threads archived on AJB.) I ended up with the Moncler that "inspired" the Tom Ford and then the Royale. I predict the same thing will happen here with the N.Peal, given its prominence in the marketing of NTTD, but of course, one never knows.

In the meantime I had hoped to see some images here of the large, extra large, and extra extra large. Surely some of us must have received them!

Couldn't agree more. I believe this style will be mirrored in upcoming collections by the fast fashion folks. I posted images of the N Peal sweater in a size large on my instagram @bondspired. Large is usually the size I take and I am pleased with the fit. I really like the sweater for what its worth.

Either way, just ordered a pair from UK Mr Porter so I’ll be able to let you know as soon as they get here :-)

Thank you but Mr. Porter confirms the inseam-length of 76-77cm:

I take your point Noi - but don’t you think it’s strange that the inseam for the 31-34” waists are all shorter than for the 28 and 30” waists?? Every other measure goes up. Anyhow...

I’ll let people know exactly what the score is when they arrive. In the meantime, some clarification around whether they are the right trousers or not would be great. Perhaps you can help with that?
    Yes. Considerably.

My N.Peal NTTD in size large arrived this morning. I had hoped to report otherwise, but I won't be keeping it.

    IMG-2026.jpg

I don't think the shoulder patches are as much of an issue in this size (although I am sure they will work better on the XL and XXL). The reason I am returning the sweater has to do with the shoulders themselves. There is a hem along the shoulder line covered by the patches that, in my case, causes an unnatural ridge to form. Perhaps it would soften with use, but I don't spend this kind of money lightly and only buy things that are perfect out of the box. The fit otherwise seems pretty good so I can't imagine sizing up. For those interested, I have 19" shoulders in suits and a 43" chest. I usually take a 52 or 54 depending on the designer.

    Other observations:

Someone above mentioned the neck hole being surprisingly small. It was for me as well.

Also, the sweater is heavier than expected (heavier than the LL Bean if you have that as a comparison).

The merino/cashmere mix is ultra soft however. Really nice to the touch.

I think the sweater will actually work better for most wearers with a color other than white or off-white beneath—unless you are going the full Bond by wearing braces. Navy, charcoal, or heather grey don't draw as much attention to the diamond neck in my quick experimenting.

I was rooting for this one. I wanted to love it.

New challenge for all the detectives out there. I'm not sure if this belongs here, but it seemed fitting...
Can anyone ID the wallet that can be seen in the Daniel Craig vs James Bond ad for Heineken? Second 0:40 of the ad, in case the image doesn't appear. Sorry new at this.

  • I feel sorry for N. Peal's returns department right now. I can imagine the conversations in there: "Well, another one came back, what is that? 42 now?" They definitely did this to themselves though.

Even if they plan on doing a second more screen accurate batch, I feel like it's going to take a very long time for them to sell through their current inventory. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they end up having to slash the price for this current version and simply discontinue it. What a bust.

If AJB was their core audience, this would be the case. Lucky for them it isn't. Most people who are buying this sweater are not like those who visit this forum.

My first thought was Paul Smith because of the signature. This one in the picture has different stitching and fewer number of card slots, but you get what I mean

Has anyone looked at the arm patches on the N. Peal sweaters? Are they all the same size? Are the arm patches on the smaller sizes also too big?

A few people are already trying to flog the non limited edition N.Peal sweater for above retail on eBay. One user has a large up with a starting bid of $695 USD :s

The silly part is that of he's trying to get his money back he could just return his sweater to N. Peal and get a refund! Instead he decides that people are so desperate for this sweater that they'll pay over the odds 8-)

Some people ask silly money, a lot of people will pay it.

I saw a Small Barbour Tokito for about $1650 yesterday! :)) I'm selling mine on here for the equivalent of $650!

Maybe they will get lucky and someone will pay it but not sure. At least that is a bit more limited than the N.Peal jumper.

I think it only stands to reason that they'd be the same size, but it shouldn't make as big a difference to fit as shoulder patches would. Shoulder patches are longest horizontally, while elbow patches are vertical, so I'd imagine it might only be an issue for very short sleeves (maybe XXS?)

Lol good luck to that guy. If you were to go that route, it would make more sense to price it at 460, and see if anyone bids up from that.

All your points are fair and well made... and I understand why you're sending back.... although I genuinely think it looks good on you... Yikes, I hope people don't lambast me for saying so... Anyway, I'm keeping mine. I'm wearing mine at the moment and I just stepped out of the office to grab a coffee and the patron waiting in line next to me actually said, "that's a very nice sweater".... let the slings and arrows fly.....

okay so he definitely wears the Jamaica-Outfit (TB Shirt, TF Jeans, Sperry Shoes) with that new Jacket, if its the graham its still hard to say which version it is, too dark

    B.jpgA.jpgD.jpg

and I have to admit I'm a bit jealous on how things look on craig vs. reality, the RGT underlines his muscular body-structure so well

    C.jpg

an now we finally know how he looses the Olch-Tie, I was curious about that :))
the whole cinematography looks beautiful in that movie...have that feling that the inflitrating-safin-lair-scene is going to be a masterpiece of action-sequences
