These are DC's start of filming press conference dates.

    Casino Royale
    Friday 14 October 2005

    Quantum of Solace
    Thursday 24 January 2008

    Skyfall
    Thursday 3 November 2011

    Spectre
    Wednesday 3 December 2014

Admittedly, the Quantum press conference took place a few weeks after filming started.

If I were a betting man I would say Thursday 4 April will be the Bond25 Pinewood press conference date.

Having said that, as the UK Bond25 release date is 3 April 2020, they may opt for Wednesday 3 April 2019 for the press conference.

Interesting that we haven't heard from Kinnear since. Personal opinion is he's a great actor, and his Tanner doesn't bother me like it does some fans... but the character doesn't need to be in every consecutive film. I do expect him to return though.

Just out of interest, why do some people not like him?

The Skyfall press conference saw only 5 of the main characters/actors introduced.
Bond, M, Eve (Moneypenny), Silva, and Severin.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi724khLAfE&t=5s
Q, Gareth Mallory, Tanner and Kincaid were all missing.

The Spectre press conference saw the 10 main characters/actors introduced.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcCxX8HH4hc
Bond, all 4 of the Scooby gang, C, Oberhauser, Hinx, Madeleine and Lucia Sciarra.

    Following those examples, the Bond25 press conference may introduce;
Bond, the Scooby gang (which may only be M, Q and Moneypenny), Madeleine, Billy Magnussen's CIA agent, Rami Malek's villain, and nobody else.

Or all of the above and the roles we have previously heard about, the (Maori?) henchman/woman, a young female MI6 agent, Bond's 'accomplice,' and the mysterious woman, could be presented - bringing the cast to 11.

I suspect that with the apparent secrecy around Bond25, we'll get Bond, M, Q, Moneypenny, Madeleine, Billy Magnussen's CIA agent, and Rami Malek's villain.

He doesn’t bother me, but he’s not what you would call memorable. Michael Kitchen was much closer to how I imagine the character. Although he and Brosnan have very little screen time together, they managed to convey a warmth and familiarity that I’ve never gotten with Craig and Kinnear. And I can’t fault Craig for that since his chemistry with Harris and Winshaw is obvious.

Tanner's a nice role but you don't lose a thing by not having him. Casino Royale and Dr. No prove that aside from M the only real essential MI6 character is Bond. That's all you need really.

Baz reports of Jaimaca as a possible location for Bond 25. This is intruiging. First time I've heard about this.

Here is the Baz Bamigboye note, you can't call it a story, it's a very brief text at the bottom of his 'column'.

Yes, he says, filming will take place in Jamaica. He also says the screenplay is still still being written. There are other bits of what he wrote, about Boyle and Norway, you might consider spoilers, so be warned.
Filmmaker Cary Joji Fukunaga and a small crew are heading to Norway to shoot a frozen lake before it thaws.
The footage will be incorporated into the pre-credit scenes for Bond 25, starring Daniel Craig.
It’s interesting to note that Danny Boyle, who withdrew as director, had wanted to film an iced-over lake in Canada. Principal filming will take place in Jamaica and at studios in the UK. The latest version of the screenplay is still being written.

Probably fair that that post hasn’t been widely viewed seeing as it was on a members travel thread in the off-topic forum.

Do we happen to know yet where in Jamaica filming will happen?

I so hope these reports are correct. There's something special about seeing Bond in Jamaica.

Jamaica was mentioned as a B25 location by MI6Community member Peter, back in early Feb.
Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

So, now we know Bond25 locations include, Norway, Italy, Cadiz (for Tunisia?), and Jamaica. Four.

    That compares to;

Casino having, Prague, Pakistan (for the toilet kill), Uganda, Madagascar, Bahamas, Miami, Montenegro, and Venice. Eight.

Quantum had, Italy, Haiti, Austria, Bolivia, Russia. Five.

Skyfall, Turkey, Bond's beach hideaway, Shanghai, Macao, mystery island, Scotland (Skyfall). Six.

Spectre, Mexico, Italy, Austria (Altaussee & Hoffler clinic), Morocco (Tangier)/North Africa. Four.

Of course, London was a location for all the films, and will no doubt be again for Bond25.

I was thinking if Jamaica is going to be a location, I wouldn’t mind seeing some non-beach/coastal locations (there’s been so much of that in the series already). That being said, as beautiful as it is, inland Jamaica isn’t that unique/instantly distinguishable as Jamaica—it could really be any inland area of Central America or Central/Southern Asia (eg Vietnam, Indonesia).

Would be a nice little nod if they get the Goldeneye resort in there somehow but like you say, it depends what they want to use Jamaica for.

Jamaica sounds great, but I am still holding out hope for The Garden Of Death so would love Japan to be revealed.

Imagine if they ditched the samurai stuff, and did a Jamaican garden of death instead, using voodoo like LALD!

Garden of Death and these locations do look great and would be a change. My theory is though Craig has been keen for a while to have a From Russia With Love flavour to one of his films and gauging that this may be his last film, he will probably be able to influence what he wants for an overall theme of his last film.
I agree in relation to the beach presence of the last few but a change like Garden of Death may be saved for the reboot with the next actor. Having said that, we have no idea what is going on but im sure whatever is going on, it will be positive and sure to be a stella film. The producers and Daniel wont want it not to be worth the wait though. We're approaching the exciting shoot phase and although the lack of news is VERY frustrating, it will start to boil up nicely as the shoot commences and we can start gathering our clothing and accessories and look forward to pictures from set, trailers and news / title song.

    The fun is about to begin -{

One of the advantages of keeping the Garden of Death in Japan is that the plot point that the garden is often used by suicide candidates work better there. Japanese culture has traditionally seen suicide in a different way than most other cultures. Teh kamikaze pilots of WWII and the seppuku ritual are the best known examples, A current example is a forrest at the foot of Mount Fuji that works exactly like the Garden of Death in that regard. It's of cource debatable if the suicide destination part of the plot should be kept.

Yep, and there's a 2016 movie based on that. I liked the movie, though it was not popular with many other people.

Yeah, I'm not sure they'll keep that element in if they do go down the route of including the Garden of Death. Feels like it's maybe too sensitive a subject.

I didn't know that. If a Bond movie goes down that route they would have to avoid being morbid and exploitational and instead going for the bizarre or mysterious. LALD did that well in some scenes.
  • Kent007Kent007 Posts: 338MI6 Agent
I get the feeling Bond25 could be quite a bizarre/mysterious film. Think Fukunaga may push the boundaries a little rather than playing it safe.

Wishful thinking reasons why I'm still hoping for The Garden Of Death:
    - The rumoured working title of Shatterhand
    - Madeline's return, possibly hinting at her death and a revenge story
    - Maybe the 'accomplise' is the new bond girl after Madeline dies, afterall each film has its own bond girl
    - Maybe the 'mystery woman' could be a character based off of Irma Bunt? (Helena Bonham Carter was once rumoured for a role)
    - And maybe Rami Malek IS Blofeld/Shatterhand, with plastic surgery to differentiate himself from Christoph Waltz?

If Malek is an operated Waltz as Blofeld, that would be just as dumbas the foster-brother stroy.

A 60yo alters his face into a 30yo? Gettin‘ a DAD vibe here (not that it‘s a bad thing), just saying as the producers were so desperate to get away from rhat. :D

Waltz is 60? I thought he was like, 40. Also, surely plastic surgery can make people look younger. I personally don't think it's as far-fetched as the DAD thing.

    62 to be precise :007)

I just don‘t think these face alterations especially one of a 60+ yo into a 30yo would fit into Craig‘s tenure and the overall aufience wouldbe more confused than anything else. Would prefer to see Malek in his own role, maybe as student/independent right-hand of Blofeld.

Maybe Christoph Waltz is going to be in Bond 25. I just checked his imdb page and he has nothing filming right now or coming up. Producers might be keeping it a secret. One can only hope.
