The wait is almost over. Bond will be back. :)

Ah yes, it should be happening very soon then—can't wait!

Also I'm guessing Good Morning Britain following the press conference means the morning after it, not literally following it—otherwise that would be a super early conference if it was held in the UK...or Jamaica.

Yeah except how often does a Bond movie come out?

How many Marvel movies has there been so far? I guessing it’s a crazy amount (off to wiki lol)

It’s pure overkill (as well as mostly garbage with exceptions - personal opinion of course :D )

EDIT. 23 films in 11 years??? Bonkers - Black Widow ain’t on that list either and I’m guessing maybe more (Guardians 3??). On top of that then you have the TV series etc etc.

I know we whinge about Bond delays but I am kind of grateful they don’t knock em out too fast

You’re right. As much as we (rightly) complain about how long it takes EON to get their act together and make a film, at least it still feels like an event. Look how they have us pining for a press conference! :))

I have enjoyed quite a few of the marvel films, and some of the more recent ones are geared much more toward adults than kids (Infinity War and Black Panther are not even appropriate for younger children, IMO). But there are WAY too many of them, and I believe it will bottom out at some point.

I watched Iron Man the other day which was fun and very well done to an extent - what happened since lol?

Anyhow back on topic - hopefully we see DC and co boarding a plane to Jamaica soon if the press conference really is there!!

PS - just realised im a hypocrite. Remembered I absolutely loved Wonder Woman, however I don't think that was because of the film itself :D

I love Gal Gadot too... Er I mean wonder woman :x

I enjoy some superhero movies, such as Wonder Woman, Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool and Nolan's Batman films. But there are far too many of them and they suck the oxygen from the market. It's hard finding a movie for adults at the cinema, it's all kid's movies and kids' movies
The Dark knight trilogy is brilliant, I've also enjoyed Afflek as Batman, my little boy loves superheroes so I do watch them, but films like, The American and Ronin and Tinker Tailor are more my kind of thing.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

    Batman returns is quite good
    Second one superb
Third I found bloated, dull and Robin finale a bit cheesy. Nice seeing Anne in catsuit though :s

Iron Man 1, Dark Knight are prob the best ones ive seen and more my kind of thing

I generally see most of the superhero stuff because I love going to the movies and it's an excuse to see something in one of the large formats (IMAX, Dolby Cinema) for the visual and audio experience. But I also love smaller films and and the more arty type stuff. I'm no film snob...I like it if it's good across genres. But Bond is my heart. When I watch a Marvel film, I'm still a 61 year old but when I go see Bond 25, I'm transformed back into a kid in '65 sitting in one of those grand movie cathedrals of that era. Bond is just a different experience for me.....part of my DNA.

Now that we seem to have gotten past the Phoebe Waller-Bridge freakout.....I'd like to take more of an objective look at what she may bring to the table for Bond 25. Allegedly, Craig wanted to bring her on board to inject a bit more humor into the script. That's interesting as Fukunaga has a track record for dark and foreboding (True Detective Season One is a perfect example) and I like the idea of the thriller/suspense aspect returning to Bond. With Fukunaga at the helm, I guarantee some really creepy, villains. Waller-Bridge (and I'm basing this on what I have read and gotten from others familiar with her work) does a great job of bringing out humor in some very dark, sometimes very violent situations. It should be interesting for sure.

I hope Fukanaga brings a supernatural/horror element into B25. I dont mean in a literal sense so to speak but more like Scooby Doo :)) . A past example being the "dragon" from Dr. No. Bond rarely veers much into those genres, and rightfully so, but every now and then it would be a welcome change of pace as long as its appropriate within the framework of the story and character.

LALD had the Voodoo angle. Fukunaga delved into the realm of the occult in True Detective. In LTK the villain was a drug lord. Human trafficking was touched upon in SF with Severine. May be the villain in Bond 25 could be heavily involved in human trafficking and slavery. It would also fit in with the rumored middle eastern background of the villain.
  • Arbogast777Arbogast777 Minneapolis Posts: 252MI6 Agent
I've always liked that occult edge that some of the Bond novels had... then LALD... then Spectre touched on it with the Day of the Dead... it would be great to see more in Bond 25.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,344MI6 Agent
Bond movies and novels sometimes touch upon the bizarre and even occult, and I like that. I'd say the Garden of Death is a part of that tradition. I'm not sure about the human trafficking as a major theme in a Bond movie though. It sounds too grim and close to real tragedies I think. It can be mentioned as a part of a subplot, like it was in SF and SPECTRE, but I don't see Bond fighting a human trafficking gang and their leader.

In the last few days, together with a friend, we went to analyse some of the documents from the Wikileaks website, regarding script notes from SPECRE, and the exchange of emails from Sony execs.

    Let the mayhem begin...
According to the leaked Sony emails (email 32966), there is a Scandinavian villa and a young girl in an early version of SPECTRE’s script. Now that we know that B25 has a scene with a Scandinavian villa and a young girl, one of the most common B25 theory is, that the young girl is a young Madeleine. The leaked Sony emails indicate that the young girl was originally called Kaja and she was to have a relationship with Bond when she is older; like Madeleine (email 32966). It is known that unused ideas for one Bond film can be used in later films. So, what else is in the leaked Sony emails that could be reused for B25?

    Let’s see:

Another female character in the Sony emails is CIA agent Charlotte (email 63219) and Felix Leiter has been rumoured to be coming back for B25 and he was, at one stage, to be back in SPECTRE (email 64219). The CIA is also working with Blofeld in an early SPECTRE draft (email 56934); which is odd as the CIA were working with Quantum in QOS. Bond works with Charlotte for part of the film and they even go undercover as man and wife (email 45027). Many fans are expecting Bond and Madeleine to be married and Daniel Craig was wearing a wedding ring in the Spain filming that was allegedly for a Heineken advert. Other B25 rumour is that Bond will work with a younger female MI6 agent. That maybe as far as the similarities go as Charlotte is seen in the Scandinavian villa scene (email 32966), so she will not be young when she is with Bond; it is more likely she is about Bond’s age. And Charlotte turns out to be a villain (email 56934). To have the young female MI6 agent turn out to be a double agent will repeat a DAD plot line.

Other unused SPECTRE plotlines involves Africa, a diamond mine (email 24914) and Bond and Q escaping the collapsing mine (email 56034). Rami Malek is expected to be the villain and he is of North African descent. One Sony executive says that it’s good to see the plot revolve around “colonialization coming back to bite Britain in the ass” (email 56934). Which would be a good theme for a Brexit linked movie. Another possible Brexit/Trump related B25 plot angle from SPECTRE’s early scripts could be that “allies are being picked apart creating paranoia and suspicion is great” (email 24914). The Sony execs also asked, “Is it just about avenging the deaths of people from prior movies who were close to him?” (email 45027). If Madeleine is killed in B25’s PTS then the same question could be asked of Bond 25.

Recent Daniel Craig Bond films have developed this Scooby Gang approach with the MI6 team. Early drafts of SPECTRE had them out in the field, with M meeting Bond in a cemetery (email 64219), Q taken hostage (email 24914) and Moneypenny injured (email 24914). With Bond now apparently retired from MI6, M could meet Bond somewhere, maybe a cemetery, in B25. Tanner was going to be a traitor who Bond allows to commit suicide (email 64219). As C was the MI6 mole in SPECTRE and not Tanner, this plot line may not be deemed unused.

Other small ideas proposed for SPECTRE which may end up in B25 are, a boat chase (email 56934), Felix Leiter meets Moneypenny (email 64219), there’s a plastic surgery/transformatlon clinic (email 32966), a death mask ball and an attack on an intelligence summit (email 56934), and there is a code book that needs to be deciphered (email 45027).

If you want to check for yourself, here are the email notes:

    64219
M meet Bond in a cemetary
    Moneypenny dance class
    Charlotte, female CIA agent
Kaja was early name for Madeleine
    Tanner suicide, unlikely after Spectre
    There's a mine
    Felix meets Moneypenny

    32966
    Bond in a cage match
    Boat chase in Amsterdam
Charlotte kills a character called Valenti
scandivian villa: its good to see mr. white but why do we want bond to fall in love with a girl we introduce as a child there is something totally weird vibeey here. scene with mr. white is good though . why does charlotte show up there and blow it up though.
what kind of a clinic is it one where people go to be turned into someone else?

    24914
the idea that allies are being picked apart creating paranoia and suspicion is great but inconsistent throughout
    Diamond mine
    Moneypenny is injured
    Q as hostage
Blofeld arms trader diamond mines Africa

    56934
Boat chase has the MI6 scooby gang
colonialization coming back to bite Britain in the ass
    Attack on an intelligence summit
Valenti is a cage fighter or organises cage fights
    Death mask ball
    CIA working with Blofeld
    Charlotte turns on Bond
Bond and Q escape mine collapse

    45027
Code book deciphered, leads to Blofeld
Is it just about avenging the deaths of people from prior movies who were close to him?
Bond is under cover as husband and wife with Charlotte

Wow. Good research! I'd be sceptical were it not for the fact that we know that one of the early ideas for Spectre is actually going to be in Bond25, confirmed.

The one thing I always found curious from those emails - the script notes were always sent between Sam Mendes, Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, Amy Pascal, and other execs... but not Daniel Craig. I had always assumed he was very involved at these stages...

As Andrew Scott was named as a member of the cast just a day or two before the Spectre press conference and Albert Finney was also revealed as a cast member just a couple of days before the Skyfall press conference, I wonder if we'll get any last minute cast 'leaks' for Bond25? Maybe the young female MI6 agent?

So far, the only people I can see appearing at the press conference are, DC, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Lea Seydoux, Billy Magnussen and, maybe, maybe not, Rami Malek due to his Mr Robot obligations. Six or seven people.

Spectre's photo call had 10 cast members. Could there be two more Bond25 characters which are completely unknown to us?

Unless I missed something, Malek has yet to be officially announced as being in Bond 25?
I would think that if Malek is in fact part of the cast, they would want him to be part of the press conference considering how big of "get" he would be coming off his Oscar.

The only person who has been officially announced by 007.com is DC.

But, like previous films, the actors themselves make it public, as Ralph Fiennes, Naomi Harris and Ben Whishaw have, or trade papers like Variety are told by talent's management what is happening. For example, Billy Magnussen was reported to be the CIA agent in one of the trade papers and he has since heavily hinted on his Instagram account. Malek likewise has made curious comments when asked about Bond after trade paper reports of his negotiations to be the villain.

I think we can rule out Jodi Comer for Bond25. She was on the Graham Norton show last night and it can be found on Youtube.

Weirdly, despite the tabloid reports (https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/films/1110617/James-Bond-25-cast-Bond-girl-Jodie-Comer-Killing-Eve-actress-author-step-down-slammed) of Comer possibly being in Bond25, GN didn't ask Comer about that, yet there was lots of Bond related banter on the show as Ann Hathaway had a DC story and Daniel Radcliffe is playing a Bond-like character in this Playmobile animation movie and Radcliffe even talked about how he would never play Bond (https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a27206005/daniel-radcliffe-james-bond-harry-potter/).

As Comer's show, Killing Eve, is a BBC program, you would have thought that they would want to give it a publicity boost with Comer being linked to 007.

While www.independent.ie ran the Ben Whishaw story last year claiming that he had made Bond25 comments (https://www.independent.ie/entertainment/movies/ben-whishaw-says-he-will-be-back-in-the-next-bond-film-37645303.html) when he was on GN, the actual broadcast programme showed that had not mentioned Bond, not one.

The story independent.ie has run about Jodi Comer's appearance last night, from the Press Association, does not mention Bond. https://www.independent.ie/entertainment/killing-eves-jodie-comer-a-fan-asked-me-to-strangle-her-38031431.html

The sooner the official press release the better. Unless they will attempt to keep some things secret. Honestly, after the sloppy Spectre story tie-in to the previous movies, I just want to get a feel for where this one is going.

I would imagine that they are waiting for Avengers: Endgame to hit theaters. It's sucking up all the oxygen at this stage. Before that was the Star Wars teaser. PR timing has to be pretty carefully managed for optimal effect.

I honestly think and hope that endgame is the end of the superhero craze and people start getting sick of it after this. I'll go see it but my interest in superheros waned from ant man 1 onwards.
