Of course they weren't applauding their deaths. But either applaud everyone or no one. It's more than a bit insensitive to the families of those who did not receive applause....and yes I understand that the level of fame among those memorialized went from household name to someone only known in the industry but manners and decency should rule the day.

That little bit sounded very promising. I love the fuzzed out tremolo guitar....very 60's spy sounding. I'm sure Eilish's
brother plays on the track, but I wonder if Johnny Marr had a hand in it also.

I think Billie Eilish's voice suits Bond best in slower songs such as a ballad. The guitar has a 60's Bond sound, and that's great!

At least the song shows the right kind of taste and singing voice.

Two people, whose Twitter accounts are @WilliamD1123 and @TheTchaikovsky, attended a talk by Robert Wade at the University of Chichester in England yesterday and they tweeted about what Wade had to say about the Bond25 scripts.

Oddly, @WilliamD1123 has deleted his tweets since but I captured some of the information. @WilliamD1123 wrote that Wade said that he and Purvis pitched a very ambitious sequel to SPECTRE that had a new direction for Bond but they felt that they hadn’t perfected it when they wrote the script. About this first script @TheTchaikovsky tweeted that Wade said that it was 'brave' and 'pretty experimental'.

According to @WilliamD1123, Wade said the 'studio' (though we don't know if this was MGM or Universal) wanted to go in a different direction with Danny Boyle, and then when Boyle left Wade and Purvis were rehired.

@TheTchaikovsky's tweets also said it was unclear how much of the original P&W script survives as Fukunaga brought in his own ideas as a credited writer. This is odd because in the recent Variety interview with Babs and Mike it said that "Purvis and Wade were tapped to write an entirely new script with Fukunaga" (https://variety.com/2020/film/features/james-bond-no-time-to-die-barbara-broccoli-michael-wilson-1203466601/). Perhaps the Variety journalist actually means that the 'original' P&W/Fukunaga script underwent significant change again with Waller-Bridge and Scott Burns work?

    These tweets do confirm that there were multiple Bond25 scripts. I speculated on the number here;
    https://www.ajb007.co.uk/post/940172/#p940172

Now we know that there were three scripts; an original P&W script, the Boyle-Hodge script, then the P&W/Fukunaga script and then perhaps a version 3.5 which had substantial Burns and Waller-bridge input.

@TheTchaikovsky's tweets also state that Wade had seen a rough cut of NTTD and the film is not 3h long.

UPDATE: UK tabloid The Daily Express has shown the other deleted tweet by @WilliamD1123 in its story today.
    https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/films/1241140/James-Bond-25-original-script-No-Time-To-Die-Daniel-Craig-Danny-Boyle-Robert-Wade
@WilliamD1123 said in the deleted tweet that, Wade said he'd seen a rough cut of NTTD and it’s not 3h long; and this we already knew from @TheTchaikovsky's tweets. @WilliamD1123's tweet also said that P&W's original take for the sequel to SPECTRE was 'very risky' and 'Daniel Craig really liked it'. So, similar to @TheTchaikovsky's tweet that Wade said it was a 'brave' script. According to @WilliamD1123 Wade was not too keen on Phoebe Waller-Bridge rewriting his work.

Thank you for posting this. I had hoped to attend but the tickets had all been snaffled up X-(

Interesting to hear his take on Waller Bridge and Danny Boyle.

This Parisian cinema (Thanks to the Other Place) is selling tickets for a DC film marathon and it has NTTD start at 2100h and end at 0005h, so 3h basically.

And @JamesBondLive is saying that the word on the street is that it is 2h 45min.

I'm looking forward to it! Unless the song shifts to a higher gear or two after the intro, that's a ballad,

Sorry, no idea. Looking at the times they seem to give about an hour for lunch and then it's about 12min between the end and start times (toilet breaks I guess) but there's 45mins between SPECTRE ending and NTTD starting. For food I would imagine.

I wasn’t actually expecting it to share the film’s title this time. I don’t really know how to put it, for a song’s title it kinda seems a little awkward.

A little awkward is better than a lot awkward like some of the other Bond song titles. Making the song a title song is key to taking advantage of the song's marketing potential. Hiring one of the most popular singers today and not using the full potential of the song to sell the film would be a poor move.

No way. Why reboot a franchise, only to kill off the main character after five movies? James Bond movies make money. If you kill him off after 5 movies the only way to bring him back is another reboot. I don't see another reboot so soon. I think Bond sustains an injury that will make him have some type of plastic surgery. The surgery will change his appearance and be a good introduction for a new Bond.

    You can find video of the Access Hollywood Oscar red carpet interview with Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas here;
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRsVIJxJYoM

Her NTTD comment is at 2min 7 seconds, "I guess it's a ballad," and listening to that tweeted clip she's not lying.

Finneas just says, "It's in the movie."

I wonder if Eilish's video will include footage from the film like Spectre's Writing's on the wall (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jzDnsjYv9A) and Casino Royale's You know my name (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=867iyhVFyEw)?

Quantum's Another way to die used the film's titles sequence as inspiration for its look, but no scenes.

And of course Adele had her Karaoke style video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeumyOzKqgI

If you're referring to whether Bruce is really alive at the cafe in the end, there is absolutely nothing ambiguous about that. lol

But if you're referring to the fact that the ending is open ended in that, while Bruce is thought to be dead, he is most likely going to eventually be found to be alive, then I agree. Similarly, it is one possible ending is Bond back in Jamaica after he defeats the villain, telling M and the gang to call him if they need him, with Nomi potentially taking the reins while he's having his downtime.
    Yes. Consssssiderably.

I doubt very much that they will kill Bond off in NTTD. First, they are not going to end Craig's tenure as Bond on that kind of down note. Second, once the film is released, it will become common knowledge that Bond dies at the end, which could negatively effect the box office. Third, EON does not want to give credence to, enable or engender any satisfaction to those critics who are always braying about how Bond is passe and should be put out of "their" misery. A somewhat ambiguous ending wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility or even a fake or presumed death with Bond ending up on some remote tropical paradise "enjoying death" once again. The bottom line is, after NTTD has had its run and Craig moves on, EON will eventually figure it out and move on to whatever is next.

For me the most important thing about the Eilish theme is that because she worked on the song with Hans Zimmer, which means he is very likely to incorporate it into the score, the NTTD score is now more likely to be orchestral and Bond-like and less like an electronic buzz fest better suited for an Inception or an superhero movie.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB_S2qFh5lU

Zimmer confirms in this tweet he did the orchestral arrangement for the song, another good sign we're going to get an orchestral score.

Or maybe morbid curiosity would gain it box office numbers. It would certainly be a dark way to end DC's tenure, but it would draw an absolute line under it, and I think DC might like that. I must admit I would love EON to be bold enough to do it; give it a dark and powerful ending, which is more true to life after all. I love films/books/plays that dare to give an ending that challenges rather than placates.

In my opinion it flies in the face of what the franchise is all about. And that is that Bond is "immortal" in a sense, but not in a Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees way where he repeatedly dies and is resurrected. I just can't see them killing him and then the credits roll and we see "JAMES BOND WILL RETURN". Also, as much as Barbara loves Craig there's no way they'll end his tenure (the most successful of all time) with his death. Finally, I can't imagine myself as a huge fan of the franchise leaving a theater happy with an outcome where Bond dies

Ah, maybe it'll say 'James Bond will not return' :))

Seriously, I don't think EON will do anything rash. Bond is a business first and foremost, so it's highly unlikely they would do anything so bold. Having said that, in a franchise that has different faces purporting to be the same person I guess anything goes potentially. I feel like times have changed and just carrying on with a new actor won't work as it has before, it needs a new way forward. I like the retro idea, but can't see that for business reasons; as others have stated, the lack of income from product placement would likely prevent that. Maybe a TV spin-off though.

He worked on the orchestration with Matt Dunkley, who probably did the heavy lifting. I bet the wah wah trumpet and the Bond chord at the end were Zimmer's ideas.

I was talking with my wife about the announced sequel to KNIVES OUT and a question occurred to me. Is this the first time a Bond film is coming on the heels of another blockbuster starring its lead actor? NTTD can’t help but benefit from the huge success of Rian Johnson’s surprise hit.
