Alan Arkapaw shot a lot of Assassins Creed with the Arri 65 which is the go to digital format for big budget action films these days. The large format Arri 65 lends itself very well for IMAX and Dolby Cinema. On a less technical level, his work on True Detective Season 1 was outstanding. Fukunaga is also a DP and likes to work very closely with the DP. I would imagine Fukunaga has a very particular look in mind for Bond 25.
Yup! Infinity War in IMAX was beautiful, especially with the entire screen filling up.... as was the chopper and HALO sequences in MI Fallout. The switching in the finale between the scenes on the chopper and the scenes in the ground just makes you want more IMAX... the chopper scenes are absolute serenity!
That's how big budget action should be. Too bad I missed Skyfall in IMAX; hope Bond 25 makes up for it!
Unfortunately my local IMAX is just digital projection but it's excellent for a digital IMAX in that it has a very large 65'x32' screen, updated/upgraded sound and new seating. When I was in London a couple of years ago I made sure to see a film at the BFI IMAX.
The film was Batman vs Superman and it looked amazing in 70mm on the BFI's 85' wide screen. One of the best theater viewing experiences I've had is my local AMC Multiplexe's Dolby Cinema. Dolby Cinema features two 4K Laser Projectors, killer sounding Dolby Atmos Sound w/ transducers in the seats and a 60' wide screen. The picture quality in the Dolby Cinema is superior to digital IMAX as is the Dolby Atmos Sound.
Interesting, although I presume Universal could step in and help distribute in North America if Annapurna falls apart (could be why Universal is involved). It sounds like Ms. Ellison isn’t much a business woman. Babs probably fleeced her and got a sweetheart distribution deal similar to the one they had with Sony.

That's not surprising. Not worried about the distributor in the US. This would not have the same impact as MGM being in trouble. It will either remain Annapurna, or go to Universal or whoever. Universal would certainly make the most sense. Annapurna has a history of backing some great, acclaimed films that unfortunately don't make much money, at least in the US.
A tidbit from The Hollywood Reporter - one of the reasons the Fox film was dropped was that Annapurna was being required to obtain a completion bond for the project. That indicates severe financial problems...
One thing to keep in mind going forward for Bond 25 - Megan Ellison’s brother David is the head of Skydance, which is doing very well releasing, among other things, the Mission Impossible films...

I’m having a hard time believing that Metro article. BB wouldn’t give a quote exclusively to a tabloid like that, and I don’t see that the article was quoting someone else or that she was available at a press event where other publications might also have gotten and published quotes. It just doesn’t pass the smell test for me...

I think all Barbara was saying is that these things happen in the film business but we are pushing on. What's she supposed to say? Because the director left, Bond 25 is guaranteed to suck even though we were able to replace him with another highly lauded, talented director with a great track record.
I was all for Boyle directing Bond 25 but there were those who had doubts.
We don't really have much real information as to what the specific issues that ended up in the departure of Boyle. Maybe some day we will get the actual facts and find out it was for the best......or for the worst. Only time will tell.
IMO, SPECTRE was a disappointing misfire / missed opportunity but not horrible. But that's just me.

In theory I agree. But they can’t make a “Roger Moore type” Bond film withiut a “Roger Moore type” actor playing Bond. They have elected to stick with Craig and they need to play to his strengths. Spectre fell utterly flat every time it attempted to introduce a Moore-type gag.
I think that Spectre was Craig his Moore film with the sofa fall and the chase scene. Where I love it in Moore his films, I prefer it not to happen in the Craig films. It doesn't fit the character we know in this day and age. Maybe if the next guy comes along we'll have a new Moore, but for now keep it a tiny bit more dark. Like the moments in Skyfall, some humoristic segments, but mostly with words (Can you open the door, please? Open... The door...) and not with coincidence.

I don't think we will ever see anything like the Moore films again. In today's world they would just seem like parody and take-offs on a
take off ie Austin Powers. Unfortunately SPECTRE had a bit of a brush with that sort of thing. When it comes to a return to "Classic Bond" for me that means an interesting storyline, a strong compelling villain, suspense, a bit of spycraft, action scenes that help advance the story and just as importantly, a proper Bond score.
I still don't get the argument SPECTRE was like a Moore film.

there is at least one zany chase scene in every Moore film, and they are zany because the car does cool things and races through interesting scenery with reaction shots from the crowds … the speedboat, the corkscrew jump, the car/submarine, the Citroen tumbling down switchbacks … lots of creative things happen during MooreBond chase scenes.
when was there ever a MooreBond chase where he places a phone call mid-chase then the chase is over before anything even happens? literally nothing happens during the SPECTRE chase, and it's at night so we can't see the scenery, again unlike MooreBond chases.

I never said that what Moore did was bad. The style of humour was Moore esque. Spectre had a lot of flaws when it comes to story, but in this case the humour was the point. Further I agree with Howard.
