There are elements from the Moore Bond movies that can come back, such as

    - 007 enjoying food, wine and luxury more.
    - a more light-hearted attitude towards women. meaning less death and doom and more for the fun of it.
    - More jokes. Not as many or in the same way as roger did it, but still

I never said that what Moore did was bad. The style of humour was Moore esque. Spectre had a lot of flaws when it comes to story, but in this case the humour was the point. Further I agree with Howard.
ah I get you … you are saying the increased attempts at humour were Moore-esque, not the specific execution of those "jokes".
I've argued before: Craig is the funniest Bond since Moore, much funnier than either of the actors in between. Its just his humour is very different, more about being cruel and intimidating. "do I look like I give a damn" in his first film or "I'd rather slash my wrists" in real life, those are Craig jokes. And his films are full of subtle variations of these jokes, often just body language, but these Craig jokes are often the best part of the film while everything around him is a bit unsatisfying. The parking valet sequence, again from the first film: he was always funny.

To be pedantic: the sofa gag in the pre-credits was a reference to an old Connery scene (YOLT), not one of Moore's. Moore was not the only funny Bond.

I would like to see a return of the Moore-era epic scope to Craig's films. That is one thing they seemed to be referencing in the last two films, then pulled away from rather than fully commit. Look: a villain's headquarters … just kidding, really we're going back to London for the last act!
Didn't Craig even say once in an interview he wanted to do a Bond-film "with submarine bases"?

Anyone think that they may push the release date back forward again to 2019? I just can't stand the fact that there will only be two bond films in the '10's decade

They could have cast, made, and released 25 if they had not waited for DC to finally accept the 20 -30 squilion for a film he never wanted to make, and is probably too old for. To arrogantly laugh this off is truly insulting to fans and gross incompetence.

The delay was nothing to do with DC, if any one specific thing is to blame, it's the new distribution deal.

Bond is going to have baggy eyes in this one due to lack of sleep...

Fortunately, based on those pictures from back in May (apparently filming a new Heineken commercial) he still cleans up well for Bond.

If anyone would know, he would certainly seem to be one.

Canada, it'll be a first for Bond (Yes, I know they filmed the 1977 union jack parachute jump there).

Does the translation of ice desert equate to arctic? Are the Russians back care of global warming making the arctic more exploitable?

Is this why they were looking to cast Finnish people?

Maybe they are adapting Fleming’s TSWLM - or at least the mission in Toronto referenced by Bond.

This is very exiting. If the plot involves Finland it would make more sense to film there. It's possible the tax system there is as stupid as it is here in Norway, but I doubt it.
It's more likely the Finns are going to play Russians. If that's the case it's one possibility the plot is a bout climate change and new trade routes like Someone suggests. I wrote a suggestion in Bond25 Wishlist for how such a plot could work. Dare we hope for a good ski scene?

The German word for the Arctic is "Arktis". "Snow dessert" is a more poetic Expression for the same, I guess.

There are both Canadian and Finnish members here who have a better background to have an opinion, but my impression is that most landscape location types you can find in Finland you can find in Cananda too. So Canada can stand in for Finland, but my guess is that Canada "plays" itself or Russia.
Finland was a Great Dutchy in the Russian empire until 1918, so there are cities that can look Russian. So it's possible Canada will stand in for the Russian Arctic wilderness and Helsinki (or another city in Finland) will stand in for a Russian city.

Finland and Canada can be strikingly similar. Both have very similar landscapes in areas - lakes, forest, rocky shorelines etc. There are very large Finnish communities in Ontario too, and there's similar weather. It would be quite easy to substitute one for the other if you wanted to. Although I've travelled in northern Canada and the Canadian Arctic and in southern Finland, I've never been to northern Finland or Lapland so can't say what it's like. The Canadian Arctic is staggeringly beautiful and would make a magnificent location. Of course, it can be difficult and is always extraordinarily expensive to film up there, but the end result could be spectacular.

Lapland is dominated by pine forrest in a flat landscape. This is a part of the enormous Taiga, the belt of pine forrest that is also found in Russia and Canada. Parts of the Scandinavian mountains also reach into Lapland.
In short: Arctic Finland, Russia and Canada are very similar.

Why don't they film in Russia? Surely they'd get a bit of a PR coup with Bond in Red Square?
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,340MI6 Agent
Eathan hunt has already been on the Red Square, so that's no longer a big PR coup.
Canada could be filmed as Canada or Finland. The tax incentives could be better in Canada than in Russia, otr perhaps EON simply wants to work with crew that speaks English as it's first language?
It's possible the plot doesn't portray Russia in a very favourable light, but I doubt it.

It was filmed in Prague though, so as Someone said actually filming Bond in the Red Square would be something...
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,340MI6 Agent
As all of it filmed in Prague? I didn't know that. In that case it would be a PR coup. But I suspect many of the cinema audience (like me) will think it's already been done. They could use Moscow as a major location, like Istambul in FRWL. Such as filming in both the Red Square and the beautiful Moscow Metro.

I kind of hope they use Canada and it is not passed off as some other location. It’s part of the Commonwealth, and has never been properly featured in a Bond film. Putting Bond in an extreme locale could also work well. Other than the end of QoS, we haven’t really seen this in a while (the silly Morocco base in Spectre was so poorly conceived that it doesn’t really count).

Speaking of Stana Katic: Her next movie is titled "Untitled Female Driven WW II Spy Thriller". Great title!
