Is this project dead? I noticed that the member who initiated it hasn't said anything about it in over a year. ?:)

I wouldn't call it dead as I know Luigi really wanted to see this project succeed. The issue is that we missed the goal by a few units but it may be harder to complete the project given the COVID19 (parts of Italy are still shutdown) situation which has probably affected peoples financials! Honestly a $600 polo is not a priority for some people but hopefully we can get it done!

If I contact Luigi to sign up how do I refer to this project? Is there a shorthand? Do I just say "I'd like a Quantum of Solace polo too"?

I would reach out to The Bond Experience and ask him how to proceed as I think we were around 10 units short of the goal.

Yes, the project seems to be one of those that falls into the category of "once we get there, we will get there..." I would contact Luigi and perhaps ask if one can be added to the list. Agreed that in our current environment it may be more of a challenge to have special runs completed. But I guess anything is possible..... :)

  • With things starting to pick up motion again in Italy and the QoS tie project coming to a close (in a good way)
how many have had to back out of this polo project? If I recall, Luigi has already taken everyone's billing info,
I still have the sheet of my order that I e-mailed to him.
I'm hoping the people that were previously in but want out have officially opted out...
otherwise it may come as an unpleasant surprise if their cards get charged and they have no idea what
a $600 payment in Milan is for. Do we know how many more orders are needed for this one?
I can't even remember the goal number as it was quite a long time ago.

Just a thought...but maybe we should shoot for the original higher number at less cost...I think it was something like $350 for 60 orders, instead of $600 for 40 orders? (don't recall the exact numbers and amounts)
Might actually be more doable if people find out that the cost went down though....
    what do you guys think?

FWIW, if the price were $300-ish I'd almost certainly join. But I'm on the fence at $600 for a t-shirt.

I think we would all love the price to be $300-ish but that was based on a much larger # of shirts sold. $600 is definitely a bit hard to swallow but I highly doubt we would ever get to the original # of 80 so it was a compromise. I think we should start an updated list to see who's still in and then we'll have a better idea of the situation.

To answer MrE's question I think we were 9 or 10 short when I last spoke to Luigi.

I’d certainly be in for two if we could get that larger number price. I’m still in for one at the quoted price.

I'd like to get in on this project, hopefully I'm not too late to the party. Been wanting one of these polos for almost 12 years now.
  • We may have to start a new list and start over since it has been over 2 years.

Maybe Luigi could meet us in the middle??? Instead of $300ish for 80 or $600 for 40, perhaps he
could pull off $450ish for 60? I think that would be easy to hit considering that's about the price of one of their normal classic cotton polos.

and the next guy that points out it's "just a t-shirt" I'm gonna slap him in the face! (no offense) but there's no need to point that out and discourage others. You can say that about any of these projects, and we are all aware of Tom Ford's astronomical pricing. We could say..."it's just a cotton jacket, or just a neck tie."

I personally find the QoS polo to be very unique. It's a cotton / linen blend in a gorgeous dark blue color and sheen that you just can't get in a 100% cotton polo. It's perfect for warm weather, and I've liked it ever since I saw it in QoS. I find the sunspel to be too long and slim fitting, I want a relaxed polo for summer-time. I'll see if I can find any behind the scenes photos to stir up more interest. I really want to see this project happen.

I offered someone over $1,000 for a QoS polo, and they declined without batting an eye. So keep that in mind.
It's one of the rarest and most difficult to find Bond items from the Craig films.

Your point is well taken and you're not wrong. But, if one plans on wearing the items, a Harrington jacket or silk tie will last 100x longer than a blended fabric polo. Def. not trying to discourage anyone - I want one! - but that's the reality being weighed with the $600 price (and that's pre shipping and fees, no?).

This is to say: a discussion about possibly finding a more attractive price-to-#-of-units balance might be the best way of making sure this project actually happens. It's been lingering for a long time.

Oh, trust me, I get it. And I'm sure it annoyed just about everyone on here that the price went up like it did.
The reality of the matter is that we didn't hit minimum and who knows how many people have dropped out.

I personally think we would be better off aiming for 80 at the lower price point, as long as it's not stepping on the Bond Experience's toes, I think we should make a new list.
Unless that offer is no longer on the table with Luigi....

I'm interested to throw my name on the list for this long sought-after polo if we can go for higher numbers and drive the price down.

I'm with Mr E on this one, been wanting this for ages and the amount of wear I would get from it, totally out ways the cost for me.
Plus I'll have a rare item of clothing that may never be repeated.
Hoping we can do a new list or 1 day Luigi emails me that my card was debited. :007)

Agreed. If it helps with numbers and reducing the final price i would add to the list as well. I cant stretch to 600 but if we can get the price down a bit then that would sway me a bit and potentially others.

To offer some clarity, the price and minimum has changed twice in the duration of this project.
Here are the prices and minimums that tf have given us including the original.

    1.) 445 euros, 500 US dollars, 401 pounds (80 units)
    2.) 505 euros, 568 US dollars, 455 pounds (55 units)
    3.) 670 euros, 753 US dollars, 604 pounds (45 units)

Personally...I think aiming for number 2 would be the best chance at making it happen.

If anyone has any thoughts, feel free to chime in. It's nice to see some movement on this thread.

fellas I would not be surprised if the price goes up for the mere fact its been so long since this project was last active.
  • fellas I would not be surprised if the price goes up for the mere fact its been so long since this project was last active.

If the price has gone up from the last one quoted, we might as well stick a fork in this project because at that point, it's done.
I'm sure the Bond Experience will update us soon if we can aim for higher numbers/lower price etc.

Had a little reread of the whole thread and forgot we were so close to success with it (it looks like only about 6 or 7 polos short) even with the increased price!

    Hi Everyone,

I've had a quick look through this thread and have made some changes to the original list where people have pulled out and some have contacted Luigi. Apologies if I have missed anything, but I have tried to capture all the names and produce a new list to quantify where we are with the numbers:

If that is true then we have hit the numbers required for the project to be finalized. The real question is if it is even still on the table. Hopefully the Bond Experience, or Luigi can give us some news, whether good or bad.

Only 6 shirt off—55 should definitely be doable! Buuuuuut hopefully TF are still onboard after all this time and if they are, hopefully they won't raise the price per unit...also hopefully everyone on that list are still onboard (haven't seen a few of them around these parts for a while).
  • Fellas...it looks like we are starting over from scratch. I just received a correspondence from the Bond Experience, and what David had to say makes perfect sense. This was his response to my question if this project can still happen.
I think we would need to get a role call going on people who previously raised there hands....yes, a few new people say they want in, but what about the people on the list that haven't spoken in years. Regardless I can reach out to TF and see if they would still entertain.

I'm going to copy and paste the 3 quantity minimums and 3 different prices that we've been given, and get a role call going. Now to avoid a lot of confusion and unnecessary revisions and steps, I believe that it's the popular opinion lately to aim for the middle number, i.e. better price and feasible quantity. If we go over and beyond, we can adjust accordingly. If we fall short, we can adjust at that point as well. Just say that you're in and for how many and I'll update the list. Thanks. Hope we can still make this one happen. :)

It was a bit of a chore, but I managed to e-mail every single person on the original list.... I need a drink.

The only member who couldn't have an e-mail delivered to was "Glenn Gervot" I went off the list so maybe it's a misspelling, or perhaps that member is no longer here.

Correction: I did not e-mail MikeG77, because he beat me to the punch and put his name on the list before I could. Apparently he wants this polo as badly as I do haha

    I gave it the best push I could guys. Hopefully something comes of it. -{
