I only read them for the articles. Only last month
Was a very moving story of a woman's struggle to
Keep her car clean. As she would get her clothes wet
And have to take them off. It really puts it in to perspective
How luck I am to be able to wash my car. With out that
    Happening to me.

Let's have an election to chose a bartender who decides what the Brexit contains. That way it will be a stronger drink! :))

    Well it would have to have gin, possibly some scotch whisky, or maybe not, some Guinness that's been smuggled over the Irish border, and garnished with a daffodil or leak? And in fairness to the rest of Europe they should have a drink too, that they can all enjoy and paid for by our teutonic members -{

    Okay, here's the deal- the 'memo' came out and peeps smelled the political blood about to spilled in Washington... wait until Donald falls, THEN you'll see a REAL drop. It's gonna be messy in all ways you can predict, but we'll get through it, just like in 2008. -{

Well, it's confidence driven, and it's about to get politically VERY messy here, so in that way, yeah. My Wife wants a new home, but I told her we aren't even thinking about selling this place and getting another until this Trump/Alt-Right/ultra-deregulation mess is behind us. This is about to be a very unstable time for America. The markets will react accordingly...

The Republican secret memo was supposed to show Donald was being targeted unfairly by the FBI at the behest of Hillary & Obama, but proved to be a mere opinion piece by a Republican loudmouth- it shows the desperation of the GOP as Mueller gets closer to indicting the bunch of them for racketeering, money laundering & collusion. https://www.npr.org/2018/02/02/582828461/fact-check-read-the-gop-memo-released-by-house-intelligence-committee IMO, this memo caused the sudden Dow drop as anxiety over a Constitutional Crisis looms larger.

Imo that memo blatantly and obviously only serves 1 purpose:

To target and harm the Muller investigation (Russian influence with the elections and collusion of Team Trump).
The investigation comes closer and closer to Trump and his team is doing everything to stop this!

Now that all attempts failed so far, they decided go go the filthy and nasty way:

This entire theater targets 3 persons:

    - The FBI boss C. A Wrey who obviously refused to be in the "Team Trump" and would be able to slow down the Muller investigation
    - Mr. Rod Rosenstein who supervises that investigation and could theoretically fire Muller which he refuses.
He would be the person that could start a future impeachment.

    - Muller himself.

The goal is to throw as much dirt as possible on the FBI and the 3 persons to undermine the credibility to the future outcomes of the investigations that won't be good for Team Trump.

And it's not so much about Russia's connections to Team Trump, it's more about obstruction of justice and that will be impeachable.

Now, where I disagree with Chris is that this memo has very much to do with what goes on at the stock market.
Everybody warned that there will be a correction sooner or later. The recent rally was based on emotions (greed), the downfall was based on emotions (fear) and computer programs.

Inflation in the USA goes up, wages and employment go up and that will mean that prices will go up.
Then interest rates and bonds go up and this makes the stockmarket less attractive. Keep in mind that the lack of profits in alternative investments (bonds, real estate etc) put a lot of available money into the stock market and that money is now moving partially back.

Additionally, computer programs react quickly and significantly to downwards reaction and when the competitor sells, your own programme sells, too.

I am aware, that the reasons are far more complex but you get an idea.

    Enough joking for now (perhaps....)
The largest opposition party in Denmark, the Social Democrats, have changed their position on immigration. Some suggestions are radical:
    - It should no longer be possible to apply for asylum on Danish soil. Instead there will be centers outside of Europe where people can apply.
    - Denmark will only take people from UN refugee camps, something the country doesn't today.
    - A limit will be set by politicians on how many non-western immigrants can be let in, based on how many it's possible to integrate successfully into Danish society.
-A ten-year plan should be made with the goal that no residential areas or schools will have more than 30% non-western immigrants and their descendants.
    - More people should be helped where they live. A Marshall Plan for Africa should be set in place.

What do you think? Any opinions?

The population will decide through a democratic vote. These ideas will
    either be Accepted or Rejected.

Yes, of course. But do you have an opinion on these suggestions?
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I'm not fully informed about the problems with immigration in Denmark
Although I'm guessing with a population of around 5.5 million, they
couldn't comfortably take too many immigrants before numbers became
a problem. There is a theory that if you change the population of a city,
country by 10%, you change the culture forever. Whether or not that's
a good or bad thing, will be up to the voters.
Myself, I think every country has an obligation to take some immigrants
to ease the suffering, but how many etc is up to the populations of those
    countries to decide.

If you agree to take a certain bald Oompa-Loompa with a bad comb-over and his soulless children, I think it would do a lot to ease the suffering of many in the United States.

There is a lot to what you write. I think letting in a large number of people, especially from other cultures, is a big and important step to take. It should only be done after a well-informed, broad and open debate. Ideally this debate should be open, but not marked by racism. Sadly that's pretty much impossible in the real world, but it should be a goal.
I fear many countries haven't really had a good debate, often because of political correctness taken much too far. Sweden comes to mind. One of their most important newspaper actually wrote that all arguments/reasons against immigration are racist. This view isn't a good contribution towards a good understanding of the issue. Denmark has generally had a more open debate, for better or worse. Norway is somewhere between the Swedish situation and the Danish one, but probably close to the Danish model.
