Yes, we must remember the British politicians are just like Putin and his people. It must be the fact that so many in the circle around May have an MI6 background. And we all remember when Putin opened up for the referendum asking if Russia should join the EU. Some national media was very much against Putin's position, because they always allow that in Russia. It may have been of all that open debate that led to the "join" side almost getting 50%! They're all the same.... :v

It's the same the world over, if the people vote the wrong way.
You have another vote, until they vote ....... the correct way.
Perhaps using tales of hardships and woe, to help them see
    The error of their ways.

You know, it's possible to be too much of a cynic.

    :))
Possibly, although in the UK. I see a small political elite, who want to ignore the vote of the majority
To bring about their own "coup" to over ride and ignore the will of the people. I can predict big
Trouble ahead, for those who choose to ignore the people. With a big swing to more right wing
Parties. The lessons of history show this :#

I do agree that repeating referendums until the people vote "correctly" is a very questionable tactic.
It's a mystery how a person from Northern Ireland can end up being ore cynical about politics than a Norwegian :v

    :)) :)) :))
We simply have experience of " politicians " who probably aren't as nice as Norwegian ones ;)

I think we can agree on that. The only time we had a civil war was in the 12th century. Very few have strong feelings about it today. :D

Yesterday a Russian citizens was arrestered for espionage after displaying strange behavior at the Parlament in Oslo. They won't say w :)) hat he did, but today there are post-it notes on many printers at the Parlament warning not to use it. The official Russian reaction as that the arrest "absurd". I mean, would Russia ever spy on a foreign parlament? :))
This is very good news a for a Norwegian ex-officer and commander of the Norwegian border to Russia who sits in a prison in Moscow after being caught spying. Finally there is someone to do a prisoners exchange with :)
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,334MI6 Agent
This is getting even more interesting. The Russian who was arresten for espionage works as an IT-expert for the Russian parlament (The Duma) and he was part of a seminar about IT-security at the Norwegian parlament (The Storting). He is arrested because of his suspicios behavior there.
The Russians reacted very calmly and reasonably....... just kidding :D

Russia has summoned our ambassador in Moscow and issued a statement that's very undiplomatic.
They called the arrest "shameful" and a result of the "spymania" (we like those, don't we?) that's a part of an international campaign against Russia. The press release also threathened with repercussions for Norway because of the arrest. For many decades Norway has had the best relationship with Russia of any of the NATO members, or at least the ones that are real democracies. Norway's good relationship with Russia might get a serious hit now.

It would seem in Russia ( like the UK ) people keep
Voting the wrong way ! :)) why can't people simply vote
The way our political masters want ;)

Actually only a fifth of the voters voted the wrong way. They voted far right SD, and the other parties are still pretending they don’t exist. Half of the rest of the people voted socialist and the other half voted conservative. Both blocks promised everyone not to enter a government with the other block and both blocks agree not to speak to the brown elephant in the room - the far right SD. Meaning someone has to break a promise to the voters for Sweden to get a new government. It's not as easy in Scandinavia as you might think.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
    :)) imagine that a politician breaking a promise :))

Here in the UK the Labour party is now offering a
Second referendum, .... I'm so happy that After a
Second vote. Peace will magically fill the whole
Country and no more ill feelings will exist :))

Someone will, but if it's as easy as you say they would have done so a week or two ago. Making that kind of promises in front of an election when they pretty much knew they would have to co-operate to avoid getting their fingers brown was stupid.

I've just been watching a news report on the Labour Party conference :o I've seen more intelligent and organised speeches at the student union, we really need some new blood in British politics.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

Today Donald Trump spoke to the UN. He started with his favourite topic: himself.
Trump claimed his administration has done more in two years than almost all other presidents did.

Then the leaders of the world laughed at the president of the United States.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,334MI6 Agent
Trump spoke in the UN again today, but this time he wasn't met by mocking laughter. He's still the only US president who has experienced this, possibly the only head of state too.
He claimed China meddled with the US election because of Trump's aggressive trade policy towards their country. This is entirely possible, but where is the evidence? When an US president makes this kind of allegations against another country in the UN general assembly it's expected he can back it up. We know Trump has claimed the Democrats stole two million votes in that election. He has made no attempt to back this up with proof. Did Trump get briefings from the CIA or are there other sources?
Is this simply an attempt to steer attention away from the Müller investigation?
    Time will hopefully tell.

Is anyone else watching the Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's hearing before the Senate?

No, but I've read a bit about it. It can be argued that the case is so old and Kavenaugh was so young it shouldn't stop him from joining the supreme court. If it had been a case of slapping her butt, an unapropriate comment or an unwanted kiss I would agree. But what happened was far more serious, in effect an attempted rape.
I believe the woman since she told her shrink back in 2012 about what happened and he wrote it in his notes.
  • VesperMelogranoVesperMelograno The SouthPosts: 901MI6 Agent
If you believe her or not actually watching it all takes place is kind of eye opening to the court process.

What is your opinion of this court process?
  • VesperMelogranoVesperMelograno The SouthPosts: 901MI6 Agent
I think Christine Blasey Ford was much more put together than Kavenaugh. He is kind of digging his own grave being so combative. It makes him sound sketchy. At the same time I do not think Kavenaugh is being given as much free reign as Ms. Blasey Ford.

One would think a potential supreme judged would handle a court case easily, or should I say in a supreme way?
The notes made by her doctor is hard to explain away since they are six years old, I should think.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,334MI6 Agent
My impression is that Kavenaugh wants the US president to be in effect untouchable by any legal system. This may sound tempting for Trump, but do they realize this will apply to future Democratic presidents too?

The Italian government has appointed Marcello Foa to lead their Public broadcaster RAI. Who is he? He is a conspiracy theorist homophobe With ties to Steve Bannon and Vladimir Putin. Foa has spread stories from Russian fake news factories such as the one about Hillary Clinton kidnapping children for witch sabbats.
Sometimes I dispair for the world :(
