    sorry, but there are significantly more important things when it comes to "success" in a relationship than that.

    Everything is just theory until you are getting married onve or twice :D

    It's too bad that you haven't been with us at the AJB meetup in London.

    My wife yelling at the poor waiter because he ignored her - would be enough first hand experience and you wouldn't be forced to write so many words on that topic :D :D
    Sorry Higgins if I bored you with my lengthy post, I was just entertaining myself at breakfast, I'll try and keep my posts to bitesize in future, it was of course meant in a lighthearted manner.

    I think the simplest and most concise way to say it is simply this: find someone who shares your passion in collecting Bond items (or any particular passion they may have). Find someone who shares the fact that you have passion in something. I don’t pretend to have even the slightest knowledge of David’s relationship dynamic with his wife but from all the videos he’s posted, I’ve come away with the impression that his wife, at a minimum, tolerates his passion, and at a maximum, shares it. That’s a recipe for success and longevity in relationships in my opinion.
    I'm single so I answer to nobody at the moment but I absolutely agree with you about finding somebody who shares your passion in some facet. They obviously don't have to be really into Bond and very likely wont be. I think its important that he or she understands that this hobby is something you're passionate about and doesn't try to lesson your enthusiasm, but instead embraces it as a part of who you are. It can also be beneficial for both parties when a new film comes out and your significant other points out the clothing and accessories they like on Bond or says things like "you would look good in that..".

    I also agree and let's all be honest here a lot of us male bond fans manifest part of our fandom through clothes and generally nice high end posessions, which entails SHOPPING! How many women dont like clothes shopping? in fact being a bond fan is a pretty harmless hobby when it comes to relationships. In fact mrscoop has become an enduring Ted Baker fan since coming with me to try and find a certain pair of trousers some years ago, shes spent thousands with them since, she also now also only wears Tom Ford fragrance all thanks to my Bond influence. She doesn't know it but the leather briefcase of mine she stole for work because she loves it was only ever bought because DC has one and our wedding pictures that she cherishes were taken on the Bond inspired Sony cybershot camera. We even got married in Venice because of our love for the place, which came from me taking her there because I felt compelled to go there after seeing it in James Bond films.

    My wife is all about Bond-related travel. And there are some geekier purchases I am sheepish about filling her in on (the stuff just starts to appear around the house and she's usually amused), but she's the one who put the Skyfall Planet Ocean on my wrist, and accompanied me to C&J for my Islays.

    Honesty and understanding go hand in hand with this hobby, I think.

    You are referring to my post in which I quoted findings from Harvard University proving that the IQ range of men is wider than that of women and therefore there are more smart men than smart women.
    By the reactions to the post I was just proving that Friedrich Nietzsche was right as he said that conviction is the enemy of truth.

    Reality is when shopping it’s a simple equation:

    Women = emotional
    Men = logical

    My nearest and dearest really could not care what I buy if it makes me happy, life’s too short as they say and natuarally I feel the same about her purchases. We both have surplus funds and so long as the bills are paid each months the rest is ours.

    Naturally on both sides ignorance is bliss and there are ‘certain’ purchases I choose (and she chooses) to be diplomatic with. For example this year I purchased another 8500 Ti watch and swapped it with my Steel one. Overall cost was an expensive initial outlay but end result was a watch that looked similar to what it did in the past just lighter. I then sold the one I did not want to cover most of the cost. Net overall outlay in the end was 1k after balancing the books so no real harm done. Had I explained my intention she would have said I was mad naturally. But I always get what I want (inc the girl) so job done, covertly and with minimum stress all round. Why court it if you don’t need too simple really.

    She trusts me and I her so the world is in balance.

    She knows my aspirations (Aston) and should that lottery win come in supports them but she also knows me in that regrets are always the things you have not done.

    I did get burned once and that was the TF QOS Cardi I had neglected to mention the price but met a friend at a party who filled in the blanks for me catching her and me by surprise. Fortunately I was able to prove I had got it half price so situation recovered after all she never asked :D (ask no questions, tell no lies)

    Cheers :007)

    P.S But this is coming from a guy who chose going to War over his family so she knows the way I tick and still love me for being me and I her for being so understanding and supportive.

    Indeed...and I can only apologise for my tardiness in responding.

    I have been reading this thread...I was rather hoping Daniel Bond was going to say it had all been some jolly wheeze and he wasn’t quite the Cro Magnon he painted himself out to be :#

    I’m now requesting the aforementioned member to leave this thread and for him to please think before posting. Replies via PM to myself, thank you.

    Now if we could all return to trying to help David fool his wife...err.. ;%

    I guess the best things is to only buy what you can afford (within reason). My wife is cool with my love of Bond so I try and mix up some actual Bond items (the Menlo and Barbour) with some frugal Bond alternatives depending on the situation. Some things are investments and can be paid off over a few years if needs be. And my wife was the one who gave me an Omega Seamaster for my 40th. I would think our other halves are all well aware of our passion. -{

    Absolutely anyone with a partner knows the games that we humans play. It all part of life’s rich tapestry and each has to judge any situation dispassionately or how they see fit. We don’t always get it right and get it badly wrong and it could be terminal for a relationship and some take it to the wire intentionally or not.

    When I bought my first Omega we had just met so she knew I liked watches. I have driven the case ever since that they are wearable investments as money in the bank does nothing these days. If I buy an item of clothing she inevitably asks which Bond film did DC wear that in (like I said she knows me) and on occasions ‘how much was that’, where I am free to choose the answer depending on the situation at the time. She thought I was having an affair until she realised I was hanging out with you guys on this site! Seems that was the lesser of two evils! :))

    After all this it is just a hobby like any other :D

    Cheers :007)

    I find it shocking that our society has come to a point in which there is a growing amount of people who ask for cencorship of opinions they don't like.
    They complain about cencorship in Russia and North Korea yet they themselves are asking for it if it suits them.
    Your acestors fought hard for the right of freedom of speech yet by your actions you trample it under foot.
    They would turn over in their graves if they could see what you are doing.

    With your actions slowly but surely you are creating exactly that kind of envrionment that you complain about in certain countries, only that this time the evil doesn't originate from the government but from the public itself.
    Students are asking for safe spaces on university campuses and some of you are asking for safe spaces in this forum because some of you are that weak that the are unable to deal with opinions they don't like.

    Sorry, I've bitten my tongue up till now. This is not censorship, this is a group of like minded enthusiasts/friends collectively coming to the inevitable conclusion that your company is no longer welcome here, nowhere have you been censored, we listened to what you had to say, some members bit and fed you (which I suspect was your intention), but ultimately didn't feel that you were making any valid contribution, so do the honourable thing, pack up your tent and vacate. This and my name and the picture is not for the v log but I must say I do not have this problem. The truth is my wife buys all my clothes. This is not because she controls me or anything, it is because she knows I have no interest in clothes or fashion. I would never buy clothes until the clothes I wear are no good any more and are to fall to pieces. Even then I would repair them (yes I do know how to sew, not good but I learned to sew patches on my uniform when I was a soldier). I think it is cultrual thing. If I could do this here i Would not even wear shoes! The first time I really wore shoes was army boots when I joined the army. This is not because of poverty but because I was raised in the bush and I never had the need for shoes and still now I feel unfomfotable in shoes or boots. This picture shows my sense of fashion. I know this hat was the last piece of clothing I bought and it must be 12 years or more. I think it does not take clothes to make a man.

    I hope you can look into the mirror when you tell your children how wonderful the society is that you helped to create for them.

    "censorship" up to this point there hasn't been any, unfortunately you chose to excercise your freedom on this forum by posting antagonistic and quite frankly outdated views, you directly attempted to draw me into some form of argument simply because I called you on your obvious disrespectful attitude towards women. If you have anything to say to me then feel free to pm me and I'll argue freely with you Unmodded. There are also other threads where you can try and air your dubious views and there you can take your chances with the members and mods, I think it's unfair to drag this thread away from its humorous subject and intention.

    How dare you! I will tell you that my dear friend Higgins and myself have an exchange of clothes. I send him my old hats and he sends me his old training shoes. This is why he has a hat like mine! He sends his pair of training shoes in the post. Once they have been dis infected to rid them of the smell of rotting flesh I can wear them. Even though I don't like wearing shoes I always wear Higgins old shoes! I took a photograph of the shoes when they arrived at my home from Higgins. Higgins liked to wear these shoes until the green colour fades! Thankyou again Higgins for the training shoes!
