Best movies of 2017 (so far)

The year isn't over yet, but we can still talk about the best movies released in 2017.
Here are some of the best I saw:

- Blade Runner 2049 (making a worthy sequel for the original was almost impossible, but they did it!)
- Wonder Woman (I don't really want more superhero movies, but how can I dislike this gem?)
- Dunkirk (Nolan made a war movie that is both epic and a personal thriller at the same time)
- Free Fire (a tense thriller about one building, a handful of people and a truckload of guns)
- Silence (Scorsese's latest movie is obviously well made. It also has an unusual setting and theme)
- Thelma (a brilliant supernatural thriller by the Norwegian director Joachim Trier)
- Hacksaw Ridge ("Mad Mel" made a war movie about a pacifist....)
- Guardians of the Galaxy (an irreverent superhero movie full of crazy ideas)

+1. It's clearly just another Hollywood phase (eg Westerns, spies, cops, sci-fi...) which is running its course and will die out (though never totally).

Definitely Blade Runner 2049 and Dunkirk. Two films that had to be seen on the biggest possible screen.

Blade Runner 2049 and Dunkirk were the stand out films of thus year for me. Br2049 would be even better if it were not a sequel.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

    Yep, Kingsman 2; like the first one it was a crazy but incredibly enjoyable ride! Also very pleasntly suprised by Thor: Ragnarok; Taika Waititi is fantastic behind the camera and has definitely set a new standard for superhero movies -{

Has anyone seen "Baby driver" and "The Beguiled"? I hear they're very good and perhaps worthy of this list?

Haven't seen Beguiled but Baby Driver was fantastic movie, great score and performances plus wasn't a reboot/sequel etc.

I would say Baby Driver off the top of my head, better than any of the movies in 24's list, though some of them were good too ... its concept was original and the whole syncopated soundtrack thing perfectly executed

of superhero movies I enjoyed Thor Ragnarok best, it was hilarious and well paced and made use of a good cast, and I like how the CGI is used in these Thor movies ... Wonder Woman was a relief after too many bad DC comics films but still fell victim to CGI overload in its last act

you know theres still films to come? another Star Wars sequel for one, and usually the Oscar-bait films only start to appear in the last couple weeks of the year
