    Saw this reported in The Times today and was very glad to see James Bond recognised as a British cultural icon in this way.

    Funnily enough I'd been thinking recently about Bond or Fleming being recognised on a coin or banknote and now it's finally happened!

    I think when I get this coins I will try to make a 007 out of them on a board to show on the wall.

    I shall ask to have two of them placed over my eyes,
    When I'm placed in my coffin ........ most mornings
    Before sun up. :D

    what do the other 25 letters stand for?
    I can see a row of people lined up on the letter Q, so that's a Queue.
    I guess Queen Elizabeth has had her face on enough coins already, but they could have used a picture of Freddy Mercury.

    the top row is hardest to make out.
    G for Geography, that's one for me.

    L for Loch Ness Monster
    O for Oak leaves (and acorn)
    R for Robin (but why is it snowing? by definition too early for the Robin)
    U for Union Jack
    W for Web

    Not being from the UK (but visit regularly), I hadn't heard anything about these - they are definitely in general circulation, yeah?

    Working in retail I've not seen any as yet, but no doubt they soon will be in circulation. It's early days yet. -{

    Yes, as I work in retail (for my sins) I have so far found one of the James Bond 10p coins in my till. The 'Alphabet' series of 10p coins are starting to slowly filter through and I'm trying to collect them all as I find them. So keep a look out for them in your change! :)

    As with all of these currency changes it just takes a while for them to slowly trickle into mass circulation. They are slowly turning up in people's change. It's only a matter of time before they become commonplace. I'd say the Bond 10p will be one of the most collectable ones given the existing fanbase out there.

    Living in Oz obviously no chance of getting one in my change . I got an uncirculated coin from the
    Royal mint several weeks ago.It took a while to arrive but is it still an option?
    BTW they missed an opportunity in not having Paddington Bear for P IMHO
    PS just checked still available from Royal mint for 2 pounds

    That's a great piece of work to house the Bond 10p coin, Pete. You should be contracted to make these for the Royal Mint! The high level of talent here on AJB never ceases to amaze me. :) -{
