It was - it was also said in here by a member who seemed to be in the know that Jamaica would be doubling for elsewhere. Both could be true, of course.

Looks like we're going to be getting a bit of an action scene with retiree Bond out sailing—actually pretty keen to see that!

    Just thought I'd mention this...

You are aware that if you follow the picture media trail of Bond 25's production, you could end up ruining much of the film? If you see loads of production photos or some video footage it may or will spoil much of the content.

Put it another way, would you rather see Bond 25 in a movie theater or see most of it before via Twitter, Facebook, Instragram, Daily Mail website etc?

If every location is put on social media you're not going to have any surprises. I assume filming in Pinewood will be under some degree of lockdown but it's comparatively easy for a Pinewood crew member to take a photo on his phone and upload it on social media.

I think everyone's well aware of all that, hence this spoiler thread—people are free to view spoiler info and pics or completely avoid them. With all the love on here for picking up Bond clothing though, I don't think many people will be avoiding viewing all the production pics that will be trickling out over the next six months or so.

Definitely an IMAX camera on the sailboat. It could just be a scene of Bond sailing...not a scene with any combat but it will look great with the IMAX camera.

An action scene involving a sailboat is a pretty new idea. Other than Craig's stuntman (who the Daily Mail's reporter has fallen in lust with :)) ) was there anything in the article tha tsaid it's an action scene?

Oh yeah I didn't mean combat, action was probably a poor word to use—just with the look of the sea in the pics, it's not a calm day on the water...it won't be smooth sailing, pardon my phrasing.

Well, he’s getting paid millions to play James Bond in the tropical sunshine; it’s not too shabby! :)

I don’t think this is an “action” scene in the traditional sense. My guess is it’s Bond out on the water pushing his limits, perhaps because he’s otherwise bored out of his mind in retirement, perhaps just because he’s Bond and that’s what Bond would do. Already reminds me a bit of that sailing scene in the Thomas Crown Affair. My guess is after the credits roll this is where we find Bond. Then Felix shows up and we’re off.

Is it a bad sign for Craig that the female reporter is more interested in his double? :))

No: it’s probably a good sign that the right wing press have it in for him, as they always have done. Weirdly they bear grudges against people they phone hacked, as if it’s their fault.

I thought the Jean-Charles Rousseau stunt guy was new in the Bond world, but according to IMDB he was in spectre too?

Are sure sure it's political, or even a grudge? It can simply be that the reporter finds the young stunt man hotter than the film star in his 50's.

It’s the Daily Mail: all they do is ‘political’ or ‘a grudge’. The person writing it isn’t interested in the stunt guy; they’re just trying to compare Craig unfavourably to someone else- that’s the point being ham-fistedly made by these articles. The writer actually said ‘Bond fans swoon for Craig’s stunt double’; not just ‘the stunt guy looks hot’. What fans? Where? It’s lies designed to make its readers think that Craig is old and losing fans.

The mail has had it out for Craig from the beginning, so this is just the latest angle. I can’t say if it’s politcally motivated, but it’s always felt a bit personal if you’ve followed it all the way through.

Yeah; I assume it’s something historic from the whole Jude Law/Sadie Miller thing, from when one of them (Express?) hacked his phone, but I have no idea what their problem is specifically.

There is a white taxi in one of the shots of Bond & Felix with ‘route taxi’ written on the side, and that’s a Jamaican taxi.

I've had a look at the video and photos available and I can't see any taxi. BTW route taxi is the same in Spanish, check Google translate.

Sounding a bit defensive! :) It’s this taxi here:
    https://twitter.com/AarontYouGreat/status/1123206257144467457?s=20
which is identical in design (not just signage) to a Jaimacan taxi, check google images. And Cuba drives on the right, not the left as seen in the images.

They’re unlikely to be near any non-filming vehicles: if cars are visible in a shot they need to be able to control them for continuity.

Ah, OK, I was looking for an actual photo of a taxi, not a small portion of one in the bottom left hand corner of a picture.

Good spot on which side of the road their driving. I concede, it is not Cuba, as they are driving on the left; but it could be a country in Africa.

Uganda is a former British colony which drives on the left and their number plates have the three letters and numbers, as seen on Bond's Land Rover. And Uganda was seen in Casino Royale when Quantum/Spectre was helping rebel leader Steven Obanno.

Bond's new yacht is not the Casino Royale yacht, which is this.
    https://spirityachts.com/spirit-yachts/007-yacht/
    A tour of the CR boat is here;
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sBz_KWBptA&list=RDQM0Qnx3jBSabA&index=7

There are clear differences between the CR boat and what is seen in the Daily Mail story.
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6980375/Daniel-Craig-cruises-Caribbean-sea-hunky-stunt-double-filming-Bond-25.html

Going through all the Spirit Yacht types, it would seem the Bond25 yacht is a combination of the Spirit 46 and the Spirit 52.
    https://spirityachts.com/sailing-yachts/the-classic/spirit-46/
    https://spirityachts.com/sailing-yachts/the-classic/spirit-52/

Maybe because they wanted to film on the boat.

I don't think it is simply a redress or slight refit of the CR boat.

As an ex navy man. Bond probably misses the cramp conditions,
The hot salty spray on his face .... oh, and the sailing too. :D

    Hi Someone,
The Spirit yacht featured is 45' - a cross between their Classic 46 and the new 44e which features embedded solar panels aft looking like decking. Spirit have confirmed they supplied the yacht but are naturally VERY tight lipped about it revealing nothing. However, having researched you will see the similarity between Bamboozle, which is a 46' Classic and the latters nav aids....

Thanks 000-7. I thought it might be a custom build of some description. Not knowing much about yachts, that second picture you have makes it much easier to see where they have made changes, such as providing a nav aid display instead of a porthole. Interesting lever arm instead of a classic wheel too. There must have been a lot of discussion between the Spirit designers and the director, whether that was Boyle at the time or Fukunaga.

User Arbogast777 posted some pictures on the Craig is back: Discuss Bond25 here thread
    https://www.ajb007.co.uk/post/947358/#p947358

which show that Jamaica is doubling for Cuba.

I'm sure Jamaica will also be Jamaica, but it is clear now from the revolutionary mural in Arbogast777's pictures, which includes the Cuban flag, and the fact that we saw that Bond's Land Rover has Cuban numberplates proves that Bond, Leiter and Magnussen's CIA agent are in Cuba.

BTW I could imagine that after the main titles, we have the Norway (or Austria?) dream sequence for Madeleine, she wakes up when young her is drowning in the frozen lake, and we see her in a boat's berth, and she walks through the boat and as she emerges from the cabin onto the deck, we finally we see Bond at the helm of the Spirit Yacht that has been pictured.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,334MI6 Agent
I didn't notice the Cuban flag. Shame on me :#
But I would like to see Madeleine as a child swimming towards the hole in the ice, then the film cuts to adult Madeleine breaking the surface next to Bond's sail boat. This would obviously mean the swim underwater was a flashback, not a dream.
