I think we may be starting to overthink this film. We still know so little (which might be a good thing) that our minds are racing to fill in all the blanks. With regards to the script, it appeared that Hodge/Boyle's script left with them (or not) and EON reverted back to the original Purvis and Wade script. I think Fukunaga then worked on either re-writing, polishing, finishing P&W's script. Then Scott Z. Burns was brought in to do another re-write, polish, etc. followed by Waller-Bridge. Again, I have no real idea if the Bond 25 script retains anything from the Hodge/Boyle script or absolutely nothing. I will say, EON desperately wanted Craig back as Bond because Craig's Bond has put a ton of butts in theater seats. I don't believe they are looking to jeopardize that by minimizing or cutting back his screen time or import in Bond 25.

I agree. Hearing DC say they were about a third of the way through filming when talking to Prince Charles and Fukunaga then correcting him saying 25% reminded me how early it is in this process, but it feels like forever since they started filming 2 months ago - with seven months of filming expected for an October finish. And in those two 2 months, filming in Jamaica, Norway and Pinewood, so the mind boggles what filming is being done for the next five months. We know Italy filming is expected 17 August to 23 September, according to MI6-hq.co.uk, but that is eight weeks away; as much time as has already passed. And then what will be filmed from 23 September to whatever date in October they finish?

Since the PTS is set to be some flashback, presumably one we have already experienced through monologue on the Morocco train which makes it superfluous right off the bat, that means no Bond on active duty in the PTS or in Act One: Jamaica.

The PTS is the Italy sequence, which will be filmed from mid-August. The Norway, young Madeleine, flashback comes after the titles. The Norway filming clapperboard with the scene number 15K indicates that the flashback comes after the titles. See my explanation here; https://www.ajb007.co.uk/post/946706/#p946706

I find it strange that a character in a flashback would be wearing such a modern and quite sort of fashionable jacket. A character in a BBC show set ten years into the future was wearing it last week on TV! :)

Growth isn't as important as screen time. Bond is supposed to be in at least 90% of the scenes. This sounds like Dark Knight Rises where Batman shows up an hour into the film, fights for 5 minutes, gets his ass kicked, and spends the rest of the film trying to climb out of a well. That was considered growth. Since the PTS is set to be some flashback, presumably one we have already experienced through monologue on the Morocco train which makes it superfluous right off the bat, that means no Bond on active duty in the PTS or in Act One: Jamaica.

In the old films Bond is always on holiday after the PTS, but it only takes him like 2 minutes to get back to Mi6 to receive debriefing. Usually by around the 25-30 minute mark he is off on the mission. This was the Fleming formula, task and execution. Bond should feel like a domesticated animal after 5 years and should jump to get back to work.

Since Lashana Lynch is Jamaican, I thought she would get a bit part in the Jamaica section. So far Jamaica is the most apt location to wear a safari jacket. It could be a very bit part. She could be Quarrelita and simply ferry Felix across to Bond's island. As for her getting her own Bond film, they can complain about diversity all they want but no one is going to see it without an attractive male lead. She is not attractive as a Bond girl, much less as Fem Bond. She cannot carry the film and I don't even see her in a worthy capacity as a sidekick to Bond. It would make more sense to team up with Felix than have two field agents from the same Intelligence (I'm trying to think if that's ever been done in the franchise or what purpose it served. Miranda Frost and Miss Fields - only when M doesn't trust Bond). Well, in this outing Bond is recruited by the CIA and not Mi6, after all.

But the cars unravel a lot. :# The Vantage seems like another passing reference to past 007. Who knows if it will actually do anything or if it will just be in an Mi6 museum lined up with the DB5, the Esprit, the DBS and either the Vanquish or one of Brosnan's BMWs. Maybe this is there big codename reference. They wanted to get all the Bond's back and line them up in their cars - of course, Moore's Bond died with Moore and Connery's Bond, even though he outlived Kincade, has too much respect for himself that he would spit on their script, and no one even knows who the Hell Lazenby Bond is if he did show up. I guess if they just got Dalton it would be kind of cool and wouldn't saturate it. The Valhalla represents future 007. If they want to actually make money, they will have Craig Bond steal it from Fem Bond, thus symbolically and literally snatching his and the franchise's future from the clutches of radical feminism. It is hard for me to picture any woman behind the wheel of that much car, albeit a Mayday type perhaps. However, the name Valhalla is probably a reference as well. James Bond will die in the worst kept secret since MY. NAME. IS. KAAAAAHHHHNNN.

I'm not sure the scenes on the frozen lake is a flashback.
We also know the Vantage isn't just a part of a MI6 museum, since it was seen on the Atlantic Sea Road.

Maybe it is just the part where the scientist gets kidnapped but the rainbow jacket looks very 80s-90s. It wouldn't be too stupid if Dalton-Brosnan era Bond in the 90s rescues Madeleine whenever she'd be about 12. Part of me thinks no one deserves to be in that Vantage except either modern Bond or Dalton-Brosnan era Bond or even some actor that's suppose to represent Dalton-Brosnan Bond. They could not show his face like in the DAF PTS, or they could use expensive face capture. To have a villain drive a certain Bond's car is disingenuous to that Bond's era. When you see it, you automatically assume Bond is driving even though its not the DB5, so it is very iconic at least for me since I love Dalton Bond. The shoot even looks like it could be from his third outing.

I hope the scene with the Vantage is not a flashback scene. If it is and they don't have DC's Bond (via screen facial capture technique, or whatever it's called) driving the Vantage and have a different 00 agent or a different actor playing 007 in that scene. I will be a bit miffed.

Back in present day, it wouldn't surprise if Lashana Lynch is the current 007, after all, Bond has retired from the service so it's natural his code number would be reassigned. But as plausible as the idea is, it still doesn't sit comfortably with me.

I do have high hopes for Bond 25 but the more I read/theorise (pure speculation I know..) about it being more of a 'team' movie it does worry me a little.

Three Aston's in one film is overkill IMO too.

I watched Dr No yesterday. First time in a couple of years. So refreshing. Bond on a mission. Very little outside help. Simples!

You think they might have two different Bonds in the same movie...?..! Erm...

I don't think EON believes in the codename theory...

Someone’s idea about being knighted is interesting.

Fleming's? It's at the end of his last novel :))

Indeed it is, and they wouldn't need the Queen to film the scene, unlike the Olympics short film, because Knighthoods are also given by Princes William, and, Charles. Coincidence?

    Yes! :)

Charles won't be in a movie as himself.

And also the idea of him actually accepting it, which Fleming didn't have Bond do.

I don't really see Craig's Bond accepting a knighthood, but then he is full of surprises and it could be a nice way to end. RogerBond got the Order of Lenin as a goodbye present, after all! :)

Getting a knighthood, the Order of Lenin etc. fits Moore's Bond, but I'm not sure of the other versions of 007.

Getting a knighthood would have even been a step too far for Moore's Bond. It would be like the ending of Mac and Me.

I agree, it's very annoying that people are latching onto this idea and running with it. I do hope this NEVER happens.

Could not agree more. It looks good, good cut, great colour and fabric. Spot on.

Black, orange and pale blues - looks great! I'm guessing it's the palette for Jamaica and perhaps Cuba.
What is the pistol Bond is holding when we see him through the blinders? The silencer looks enormous.
I also like Lynch's hairstyle better than the short one she usually sports, this one looks classy and 1960's.

Has anyone been able to identify this picture from behind M's desk?

    painting.jpg

I think it's by an artist called Thomas Buttersworth but I've not been able to identify the specific picture.

If anyone has a large Hi-Res copy of it that'd be much appreciated.

Well that was a nice surprise :D . Colours look great and visually looks FANTASTIC and different to what we've had in Craig's films so far. Looks refreshing and a fiest for the eyes off that snippet.
