Deduction.
FRWL Spectre has a helicopter at Spectre island and a Spectre helicopter attacks Bond.
YOLT Spectre helicopter flies in and out of the volcano lair.
OHMSS Blofled's Orange helicopter.
FYEO Spectre has a remote control helicopter Bond takes control of.
Skyfall Spectre member Silva attacks Skyfall Lodge with a helicopter.
Spectre Bond kills Sciarra and his pilot and takes their helicopter, Bond and Madeleine escape from the meteor crater base in a helicopter, Blofeld has a helicopter over London.
So your logic is that you can think of instances in past films where bad guys have been in helicopters, therefore any helicopter going forward must belong to a bad guy?

I mean Sean Connery searches for the sunken plane in a helicopter, George Lazenby arrives at Piz Gloria in a helicopter, Roger Moore arrives at the Navy base in a helicopter, Timothy Dalton flies in a Coast Guard helicopter, Pierce Brosnan arrives at the US base in a helicopter, Daniel Craig arrives at the Bahamas in a helicopter...

There is just no logic being applied here...
Eh, that is literally logic I am applying. Spectre has almost always used helicopters. With the exception of Dr No, Thunderball and DAF, Spectre has used helicopters in six of the nine films it has been in. As you have shown, Bond has rarely used a helicopter over the 25 films. When Spectre is in a film, it almost always uses helicopters. The helicopter is a Spectre trope, starting with FRWL. Ergo, it is logical to surmise that a helicopter in a film, with Blofeld in it, is a Spectre chopper.

I bet anyone a million air guitars I'm right.
Is Tanaka a Spectre agent? Is Felix Leiter a Spectre agent? They've used helicopters in films that featured Spectre.
No Sir, according to the CAA it is an A109S. There is a difference between technical type and commercial name - hence what I posted.
A GrandNew is type AW109SP and also has a different cockpit dashboard than that seen in Cary's video. -{
Where are the little stubby wings at the back then?
I can't see the registration in the pictures, where did you get the G-OPOT from?
Same photo(s) you have been looking at....! Just that I have seen more. Some things are not as you would expect to see them....
1. go back to post 1289 (Cheers Arbogast777)
2. Download the bottom photo in its original size
3. Rotate 90 degrees anti-clockwise
4. Zoom in and Read "G-OPOT" on the underbelly
You may also want to check out the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) website under that registration wherein you will see....
1. "Type: Augusta A109S", "Popular Name: Grand"
2. A note "Display of Registration Mark Exemption Details" issued "15-July-2019" Code:Serial "Belly registration only" - just in time for its involvement in filming.
I see the original post you quoted the guy has been corrected. Then makes another assumption without researching properly!
It is NOT an AW 109 GrandNew!

I've found 'pre-belly registration only' pics. It's clearly had a paint job, more black. Must be for Spectre.
Now you're saying you know who the helicopters belong to based on its color!?
Let me tell you why this doesn't make any sense - of the 9 instances you cited of Spectre using a helicopter, do you know how many of them were black? 2 out of 9.
I'm sorry for jumping on you Someone - I know you're excited about this movie and want to guess every plot point before it comes out and I'm going to stop now because my point has been made but... c'mon man...

speaking as one who analyses a bit of data in real life, I gotta point out...
statistical evidence supporting the hypothesis of correlation between two variables (eg 1. use of helicopters in a Bond film and 2. Bond films featuring SPECTRE) requires about a 95% linkage of the two variables. The closer to a 100% match, the more likely the two variables are correlated, the further from 100% the more likely to be coincidence.
Six out of nine films is closer to 50% than 95%, thus more likely to be random. Not totally random, maybe, but a very weak correlation at best.
The other thing is, how does the hypothesised correlation compare to the general population, in this case all Bondfilms, whether they feature SPECTRE or not?
If it's the same, you're not proving any special correlation specific to your subset (SPECTRE films), you're just saying that subset is a typical sample of the larger population (all Bond films).
Off the top of my head, the Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies and the World is Not Enough all include helicopter scenes, and in all cases its the villains helicopter even though those villains are not SPECTRE agents. I'm sure I'm forgetting some from the remaining films. That's 12 out of 24 films, not quite 67%, but still the pattern is any Bondfilm has a 50/50 chance of a helicopter being used by the villain.
And theres lots of helicopters used by good guys. In OHMSS Bond is delivered to Piz Gloria by Blofelds helicopter, but returns at the end of the film with three of Draco's.
Somebody needs to compile a definitive list of all helicopter scenes in Bondfilms, noting in each case of it's the good guy or bad guy who uses the helicopter.
I think its not so much helicopters are a SPECTRE trope, but rather they are a general Bondfilm trope. I agree it began with that scene in From Russia with Love , that was perceived as popular (it actually reappears in the credits of the next film), so the filmmakers tried to write in a helicopter scene into each following film wherever they could.
DC always looks uncomfortable in those kinds of photos. Roger Moore always used give a big smile and play up to the camera. Dan hides under a flat cap.
Still, I wonder whether the bride-to-be invited him to check out her underbelly to see if it had a SPECTRE registration code?
ah thanks ... I meant somebody in the generic sense of course, not Someone as a proper name, but very good!
I'm ashamed to admit I don't have all the appearances of helicopter in Bond films memorised. They certainly are a recurring motif.
Still those links are just straight lists of vehicles, we could do better, noting which scene and what they do.
For example, the helicopter in From Russia With Love is listed as a Hiller UH-12, but that doesn't ring a bell when trying to remember where it appears in the film. The important thing is it is the one shot down from the sky at dangerously close range by Bond hiding beneath a rock after he flees the train toward the end. Oh yeh, that helicopter!
Above I said For Your Eyes Only has a helicopter used by a nonSPECTRE villain. I meant Gogol at the end, of course there is also Blofeld himself at the beginning, so that film somehow falls into both SPECTRE and nonSPECTRE cataegories. That complicates the math.
and I'm unclear as to whether Skyfall should count as a SPECTRE film. It was retconned as a SPECTRE film, once we learned Blofeld was behind everything, but so were Craig's first two. Shouldnt that make 11 SPECTRE films total, including For Your Eyes Only? Were there helicopters in Casino... and Quantum...?

I wouldn't count it since Silva's shoehorned inclusion in SP was a haphazard attempt to connect every Craig Bond film.
Yes, isn't the Valhalla another visual cue that Lynch is part of a very modern MI6 and Bond is old school with his DB5 and Vantage?
this would be the Steed and Peel dynamic!
I wonder if Fiennes-M (a failed Steed from the wretched 1990s film) will comment on it, just to get a bit meta?
Harris is quoted saying: "He's now having equal relationships with the female characters and he's emotionally attached, making real connections. There's real respect for the women in his life."
"There are now four women in the script and they all have incredibly strong roles and play a huge part in driving the story forward and assisting Bond."
The four woman being, Swann, Paloma, Nomi and Moneypenny. "Incredibly strong roles," and, "play a huge part," exaggeration on Harris' part or maybe true? Paloma assists Bond in Cuba, Nomi in Jamaica and Norway, Moneypenny in London? It would seem to shoot down the Madeleine dies in the PTS theory. I can't see how she could assist Bond when dead.

She was speaking in generalisations. Madeleine's death early in the film would drive the story. Three out of four assisting Bond would be enough for he to say that about the women in the film.

No insult intended, gentlemen!
I have downloaded the pics in post 1,289 and zoomed in on the belly registration and I can see the G-OPOT now.
