One little technical point. It is unlikely that the scene under the ice is a flashback of Ms Swann as a child. Why ffs? I hear you yell! Simples, the Czech VZ58 did not exist at the time of the believed flashback in this configuration
Also, if the characters are meant to be the same or a similar age as the actors playing them, Safin is only a few years older than Madeline. So if that is a young Madeline on the ice, then Safin’s murderous ways must have started at a really young age. He also must be pulling the old “one kid on another’s shoulders wearing a coat and pretending they’re one adult” trick.

Safin‘s age discrepancy could be somehow explained with the rumored cloning plot. Maybe the Safin on the ice is the „predecessor model“ of the later one fighting Bond
Thanks. It opens. Some interesting stuff:
- However, with the opening scene, Fukunaga bucks tradition in every way: It’s slow- paced, visually arresting, subtitled with dialogue in French and entirely Bond-free. Focusing instead on Madeleine’s backstory, the opening is a terrifying episode from her childhood in which Safin, wearing a Japanese Noh mask, kills her mother, pursues Madeleine through the home and hunts her down on a frozen lake. “Some clown chasing a child around the house,” Fukunaga says with a laugh. “Yeah, it’s like I brought back It in the first five minutes of Bond.”
- Several hot rumored plot points have made their rounds online during Covid-19: Bond is a father! (“I’ve heard those rumors. I can’t confirm or deny anything.”) Bond saves the world from a biological weapon and global pandemic! (“I can’t comment on that either.”)

Very interesting article. I was quite sure the PTS would feature Bond and Madeleine in love each other, before he discovers she has a secret. It would have fitted so well with the lyrics of Eilish's song. I mean the credits would have had such an emotional value opening after Bond turns around while the train leaves the station. The man is sad, angry, full of regrets, wondering whether he would get rid of the ghosts of his past one day...
Having said that, Fukunaga knows his job and I'm sure he did something relevant.
Well done indeed! But I read somewhere that Bond and Paloma escape the sinking ship on the floatplane (Phoebe Waller Bridge wrote a joke for them) so that shot would come after Bond is underwater.

oh yeah i remember that now. i'll have to change that.
The article tells us about the first scene - but where does it say the entire pre title sequence is set in Norway and doesn’t feature Bond at all? There’s a difference between first scene and the entire pre titles sequence...

That was really good!
Thanks for making this!
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Having said that, Fukunaga knows his job and I'm sure he did something relevant.
I think, as they're taking off, Paloma says, "Get it up! Get it up!"
Bond: "That's never been a problem before."
Thanks. With all the delays i have all the time in the world.
oh yeah i remember that now. i'll have to change that.
New pic on Total Film. Article starts at page 28
Heaps of great stuff in there on Bond, and not just NTTD—lots of cool BTS stuff from previous films as well!
