  The Death of Stalin and Isle of Dog were my two faviorate movies of the year. I liked a Star is Born but felt it was a solid half an hour too long.

  I have to remove "Three Billboards …" because it was made last year.
  Instead I'll ad "Utøya 22 Juli" by director Erik Poppe. I'll write a review later, but it's technically brilliant and emotionally raw.

  I haven't seen all that many films this year, but I certainly had a great time watching First Man. I always enjoy seeing the early space program portrayed on screen, and I think that the film did a good job of capturing the feel of the period, even the cinematography at times had the same feel as the NASA archive film footage. And as a terrible nitpicker when it comes to these things, I found surprisingly few nits to pick. I really enjoyed the film's score as well.
