Opinion - S.T. Dupont Casino Royale Limited Edition 2006

Hi all,

After a lot of reading on this marvelous forum, I've finally created an account.
Hopefully I can contribute in areas where I'm familiar with e.g. whiskies & watches (I'm a professional watchmaker ;-) ).

I also actually have a question for the Bond collectors out there.

What is your opinion about the S.T. Dupont Casino Royale Limited Edition 2006 set?
I have the possibility to buy this set, brand-new, with a discount.
A picture is added as a reference.

I'm not sure if this is actually a much sought after set or not.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Peter

Welcome to the forum peterg! I've seen these listed for big money on eBay but I also see the sets sold piece by piece. I know the cufflinks (S.T. Dupont 5244) are the most sought after item from the set but you gotta decide if you're gonna use all the included items to justify the price!

I’ve got the same set. People do list it for vast amounts on EBay etc, but they never sell. I had three originally and bought them when they first came out at RRP LESS 25%. I couldn’t move the first one unless at a sill low price, so split it up, the cufflinks are the key sellers if you can source an original box for them, the other stuff not so much. But I did make some profit by selling a t that way. I still have the big boxes. The final set I use everyday as they are beautiful pieces.

I did secure a further set for a friend a year or so back. It was unused and around £1000.

    Thanks for the feedback!
So basically, the conclusion is that as an investment, this might not be a good deal.
In the shop (official dealer) the set is priced 5.270€. Currently with 30% of, perhaps 40% with some luck.
That's still a lot more then the 1000£ you are mentioning.

As an investment, it’s not good at all. If you break down the individual items then you are looking at

    Lighter £400-£500
    Table lighter £450-£550
    Fountain pen £450-£550
    Rollerball £350 - £400
    Cigar cutter £200-£300
    Cufflinks £1200

Apart from the cufflinks, the other items fluctuate in price and don’t seem to appreciate.

If you are intending to use the items then it’s a great set.

    Thank you for the feedback.
I was hoping that the offered discount would make this a good bargain.
Seems I'll pass on this one ;-)

    Hello,

I’m getting married this year and I am very interested in obtaining the 5244 S.T.Dupont cufflinks for the big day! If anyone is unhappy with their current pair and wish them to go to a good cause/home please let me know.

    Thank you so much,

    Blaze

A great association since Dupont provided cuff links for others in the cast besides Craig in '06.
