I'm sorry but this watch is ugly! Once again Omega chooses to go overboard on the design elements for this particular LE Bond watch and misses the mark. The design on the caseback makes no sense to me as it obscures the movement. I think they would have been better served removing the symbol from the 12 marker and doing an engraved caseback like the standard Seamaster hippocampus or engraving the coat of arms into the rotor. I also think the box is way too big and should have included a nato strap!

I wasn’t a fan of the Aqua Terra with the Coat of Arms etc. However after seeing this I think the AT would have been better saved for this anniversary as at least a bit more elegant :)

Still makes no sense to me though to use OHMSS - very forced and bad idea

Funny when you think they could have actually played up some Swiss connections between the film and Omega.
I don’t mind the little bezants at the top; that would have been enough.

I don't understand having a display caseback when most of it is obscured by the writing.

I really dislike the current Seamaster, and this release does nothing to change my opinion.

I would have rather seen a Moonraker 40th anniversary Moonwatch, although knowing Omega one of the subdials would have had a glow in the dark Drax Industries logo.

Another absolutely brutal offering from Omega. Nothing more to be said.

Sounds the like NTTD LE will only be marginally better.

Brutal is fair. This is a Christmas bauble of an offering from Omega. It even beats the Commander in the clash of colours and even enters a new realm of blingin’ Pimp stakes. This is as far from Bond as you can get in a watch. It’s a disgusting OTT offering of different ideas that don’t mesh. Money grabbing brutality is more than fair. Sadly Omega are still riding that slippery slope of pushing too many limited editions that really aren’t that limited and cheapening it’s brand identity. In 2005 their five year plan was to be on an equal standing with Rolex. They started on the right route for three years. Then it all started going backwards and forwards and zig zagging in an entirely different direction. It’s sad, because I believe they could have gotten quite close. Can you imagine the Rolex coronet nestling proudly on that dial

They could’ve done so much better with a Speedmaster mimicking the Daytona. :#

This isn't worst I've seen of the Omega Bond watches. Most of the Bond watches they do aren't very pretty. They need to ask themselves, "is this watch a gimmick?" If the answer is yes it's back to the drawing board. It's that simple. EON is approving these designs. Who coming up with these designs, EON or Omega? Do EON make it a requirement that if it's a Bond watch it needs overt Bond branding?

Everything I’ve seen from EON recently tells me they are just rubber stamping whatever product their various partners come up with and grabbing as much money as they can from the Bond mark. I’m on the verge of losing all faith. I’ll wait for NTTD, but the last five years have been pretty dire. The goodwill from the CR-Skyfall era is spent.

I doubt Eon would mind all that much. Although it’s a bit tacky for a luxury watch brand it’s hardly bringing the 007 brand into disrepute.

Yes it's definitely far too much on the caseback—you can't see a thing underneath. I like the suggestion someone said earlier in this thread that they should've got rid of the decal thing and had the crest engraved on the rotor. That could have looked incredible.

I think even just engraving it on the glass would’ve been okay, but not that full colour version. And not one but two mottos? The world is not enough, we have all the time in the world? Admittedly the second one is rather neat for a watchmaker, but the first doesn’t quite sit right considering the huge price of these things! :)

The case back was the thing I actually liked the most! Not a fan of gold or the engraved gun barrel, but I think they pulled it off better than in other versions in which they tried.

The AT with the family crest was a much better LE and was something to behold
    in person.

'Beats the Commander in the clash of colors'? Are we looking at the same watch?

Absolutely. And here’s why it’s a mess due to the ill thought out colour clashes.

    387D4FF9-7B61-416A-A6AA-F3B6A50E933E_zpsa0fljpnd.jpeg

First of all you have a deep yellow gold applied to the indices, hands and lettering, and then silver indices on the dial. This stands out quite badly and there is no blending in at all to make the overall look pleasing. Then you have that stark contrast on a black background which makes that faux pas stand out even more. As if that’s not enough, you then have red applied to the dial AND second hand. If you look at the Black Bay 58, that watch does gold indices and hands on a black dial with stainless case perfectly. Omega just seem to have taken random elements and thrown them together without any thought to aesthetics or class. With the Commander, the colour combination was a shocker, but with this it’s a shocking mess.

I’m not even going to talk about the back :))

I totally agree and I am sure that he finds most of the GSs more pleasing than this kind of mess :D

Imo, at least, they should have made the numerals in the bezel gold-coloured but on the other hand, there is no way around the fact that this plaque is ridiculous!

Spot on. {[] I truly believe with the 2006 Planet Ocean they created a watch to rival the Submariner. The 1995 Seamaster is also a classic. They should have left both well alone and just updated ever so slightly as Rolex do with their classic models.

When they try to over-egg things and use every crayon and piece of LEGO in the box, that it falls apart.. 8-)

I find it interesting how many individuals on here keep crying out for a return to Rolex. Personally I find Rolex to be a brand of the past. They make a great time piece don’t get me wrong, but in a world of pushing to innovate and new technology the brand feels tired and boring to me. NTTD being the Omega’s ninth film as Bond’s time piece, it officially ties Rolex for the amount of times worn on screen by Bond. However Omega has done it nine times consecutively. As far as the conversation about bond having a new watch (or two) every film. I welcome it due to the fact that it creates a connection to each particular film and not this the “bond watch“ for the next decade plus for actor X. For me it has become a part of the pre film release ”excitements” just as when we all look forward to what the title song will be or the release of the film title. Finding out what will be on Bond’s wrist has become one of those boxes we now check. I do believe Omega did finally get one right and that is releasing the actual screen watch. The only problem I had with the Spectre watch not being 100% perfect was the etching of the 007 logo on the strap clasp. Other then that the watch was a perfect example of what a Bond Limited Edition should be. As far as the “collector pieces” go, I take it at face value. Some fans out there must enjoy them because Omega keeps making them. They are meant to be fun and full of Bond themed nods. Hell Daniel Craig even wore the commander watch during his announcement that he was returning for a fifth film which was interesting to say the least. Sorry if I offended any Rolex lovers out there, but the Omega and Bond connection isn’t losing any steam.

Yeah, but you mention it in the context and as evidence or to strengthen your point that Omega is superior to Rolex ( hey, even Craig wore model xx during the announcement).

As he was obviously asked to wear the Commander to push the poor sales, that remark was unnecessary in the broader context of your argument ( which is wrong anyhow :D ).

There are a couple of elements I like, I like the bezants on the the dial, and I like the "secret 50" the gold plaque would have been better being not gold but I get the 50th connotation, other than that it's garish and about as subtle as kick in the groin, not for me and another naff bond le sadly.
It was either that.....or the priesthood
