We had a customer asking about these, so we made up a prototype pair of shorts (hadn't added the drawstring yet):

Would anyone be interested if we did a run? Price would be around $25-$30 a pair in standard sizing. We'd have to do a fairly sizable run as the light blue fabric has to be specially purchased, so we need to gauge interest before proceeding.

Yeah, those would be very cool! Having said that...perhaps they'd be a little longer than the screen accurate ones? Not sure too many of us could pull the ones from the movie off haha

Yeah, our initial prototypes are a tad longer... though I'll wait till I get them in my hands and try them out (still coming out of summer here in NZ, so I may get a swim or two in them before it gets too cold). But yes... I thought there might be a little more appeal if they were a little bit longer. Not too much to change the style though. Stay tuned!

I too would be interested. Shipping from NZ is usually a big deal, but if they were available at the same time as some of the NTTD pieces you are working on, I might be tempted.

I’m over in the Hawkes Bay, Indy, a bit warmer than swimming in the Whanganui River if you want to send a pair over

True! I grew up in the warmth of Florida though... so I tend to limit my swimming these days to heated pools. ;% -{

The prototypes are quite small (what I'd call an XS), so we'll see about making some larger sizes and start a run shortly.

Yeah at that price Id be in for two pair. Especially if you did the alternate color scheme seen later in the film.

We're currently revising the measurement sets for these. The prototype was supposed to be a size medium, but turned out REALLY small, so we've increased measurements across the board and will be making another sample in size medium for testing. If that looks good, we'll start production immediately. I'll post when those are done along with an estimated timeline for production.

I've never been into replicas or inspo items but I'd absolutely buy a pair of these if they're under $75. I'd also like an update.

We're making a new prototype with updating sizing since the originals were too small. Once the sizing is sorted, we'll start the run, add these to our site, then start accepting orders. I'll post here as soon as we're ready to roll.
