In the late war and into the 1950's the grandfather was promoted to MI5 head security officer for the colonies. He looked for the Soviet mole in MI5. It must've been a huge shock to be told it was Kim Philby, who he worked with and knew well.
I want another "origin" film. Casino Royale introduced a Bond in his mid-30s on his first mission as a 00. I think it be really unique to see a story which shows Bond before he joined the secret service and the film can perhaps be the story of how he caught the attention of the service and M. Now, let's talk casting. Jacob Elordi, the talented actor who recently graced the Tribeca Film Festival with his presence, has caught our attention. With his undeniable charm and striking looks, Elordi could bring a fresh perspective to the young Bond during his formative years.
We spent most of the Craig era watching Bond become Bond. Please for the love of all that's holy can we dispense with origin stories for at least a couple of decades?
I'm always up for a good origin story but given the time between Bond films these days (and my age) I agree they should dispense with that and get on with it. Give me a Bond in his 30's who is already a "00" and any backstory can easily be referenced when necessary (references to when he "was in the SBS" or a contact from his "SBS" days or before he had "00" status). I don't even mind people popping back up from the past in stories as long as they are not "foster brothers", etc. What would be acceptable would be a former SBS mate who has now gone bad (mercenary, etc) or is helping Bond, Felix Leiter types, enemy or friendly foreign agents that Bond has had "business" with. Realistically, in Bond's business, who is a friend or enemy can be a very fluid thing.
I say go for an actor that is 27-30 and tell the story of a young Bond joining Mi6. It also be cool to meet Charmain Bond and have her be a new regular. Though there will inevitably be Spider-Man comparisons if they go down this route. I'm thinking more in line with Dune though and Paul's relationship with his Mum.
But Then it's absolutely vital that the movie makes it 100% clear that the recently killed 007 wasn't named James Bond. They also need to show a photo of the agent who died to make it clear it's not Daniel Craig.
The final test to be a 00-agent is to kill two people under orders. We already saw that in the CR PTS, so I don't wan to see that again. Perhaps the best solution is to have 007 killed at the start of the PTS, then we see M talking about who should be 007 next. He throws the file of James Bond on the desk or James Bond enters the office for job interview. Que the title sequence. After the title sequence Bond is a fully trained 00-agent.
I think we saw plenty about Bond's parents, his past and generally the past in Craig's movies. I want the future movies to focus on the current time and the future, at most bringing in his past in the navy very quickly. Another parent figure for Bond is going backwards into the future in my opinion.
it could be very interesting, but I still prefer Bond to be a 007 at the start of Bond26. Maybe it can be implied that he left the SBS about five years earlier and has friends and contacts in the navy.
I like the idea of the film basically being an 'audition' for Bond becoming a 00. There's a good hook to build a gilm around. I also think the 'two kills' thing can be reworked, so even if Bond does kill throughout the course of the film. Just say 00 status is only conferred on the most elite operatives who have proven themselves in the field.
I hope that whatever actor they pick, that actor is not underpinned by the woeful writing of Purvis and Wade, or fad guest writers. It would be nice to be future focused rather than endless nods to the past which seemed to have been mined to extinction. I guess there still needs to be a beginning for a new actor but what does that look like ? Intelligence Officers Course ? or a few years in with a fresh threat and a new team (we need to get to know). I also want to see this guy underwater, what happened to DC and diving ?
In a crazy world, we could see Bond ski AND dive in one film. It's almost too much to ask for. I hope those actors are getting their skiing and diving experience up to scratch 😀
I can't remember if he's been mentioned before but Nick Hendrix doesn't look too shabby. Right age, height. English. Actually got a bit of Clive Owen about him and a certain army/navy look (if there is such a thing!😄)
ATJ's career choices make me sceptical. Perhaps I'm wrong but I don't believe he will be the chosen one. Furthermore I would love to have someone actively involved in theatre.
After that trailer, I don't feel I need to see the actual film!
The bits in London look quite Bondian, despite all the CGI and I think he could be okay, but I think I might prefer someone not associated with Marvel. If Kraven is successful then surely there will be sequels. I'd rather not have a Bond actor with shared commitments that could disrupt availability, or an actor to be well known as much for another major role.
Paul Mescal is looking ripped for Gladiator 2! If he gets the gig, you can guarantee that some of the best directors around would flock to the series much as they did during the Craig era

I wouldn't mind perhaps a film showing M starting up the 00 Section, perhaps choosing Bond as his or her first agent.
