Stamper's implied motive of avenging Kaufman not really convincing. But his lines "For Carver! For Kaufman!" actually echo a part of John Brosnan's book 'James Bond In The Cinema' (1972). Brosnan complained that when Blofeld first met Bond in YOLT he should have slapped him round the face and said, "That's for Doctor No! And that's for Largo!"

I think Brosnan is fantastic as Bond in this film. I love how it deliberately echoes TSWLM and YOLT. The music is the best Bond had had in years.
The counter-argument is that it’s “Bond by the numbers” but sometimes that is the way to go (eg TSWLM) and as long as you get those numbers right then it works.
It’s a shame Brosnan himself doesn’t think highly of this (or TWINE).

I agree, Gotz Otto owns the scenes he is in and his character is seen as ruthless.
Although Necros is decent, there is too little of him to make home memorable as a character.
Stamper is at the centre of TND. Necros doesn’t know who his real boss was as we didn’t!

Absolutely. Love it (except for those electronic primal burping/farting sounds. Arnold used these, too, in his 'Thunderball' on 'Shaken And Stirred' and even in 'No Good About Goodbye' with Shirley Bassey).

I think TND is a good entry, but it suffers from average action scenes (there's a couple of exceptions) and forgettable henchmen.
The music is great and Michelle Yeoh is a staqndout in the action scenes.

Honestly, while I prefer the direction (especially the action direction) of GE, I think that this one may be Brosnan's best outing as Bond. It's very solid and delivers the goods, and I think that Brosnan does his best overall work as Bond in this movie.
I think it’s a fantastic film and even one of my personal favs of the series. The plot is relatively “real world” even today, the action was quite enjoyable, Brosnan did a great job and Yeoh gave us a “Bond girl” that kicked ass! A great rewatch and I’m glad I was part of it -{

Necros could take on other personas and infiltrate a MI6 safe house. All Stamper does is fighting and having bleached hair.
