One question I'd have is whether there's any preference between the different recordings of 'Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' with Shirley Bassey and Dionne Warwick. Overall I prefer the Dionne Warwick recording: there's a beautiful quality to Dionne Warwick's voice which somehow matches this particular song really well. But imho a problem with the Warwick arrangement is its introduction, before the vocals: its intro is overblown in a clunky sort of way - even for a piece which as a whole is all about being bombastic. By comparison, the Shirley Bassey recording of the same song has a much neater introductory arrangement. I wonder whether the introduction in the Warwick arrangement is drawn out in the way that it is because Barry was setting out to delay key beats for key titles in the titles sequence.

I've just reminded myself that, on DVD/bluray commentary track #2, the Dionne Warwick MKKBB is played against the titles sequence. It's clear from this that the 'clunky' musical intro is indeed synchronised with the opening titles - delaying the vocals till the title of the film is itself displayed. Overall, the song is matched to the sequence with blissful congruity.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

It’s Largo for me, never has been, or will be, anyone else :D

Amazing isn’t it - in all my (many) years as a Bond fan I’ve NEVER even considered the lyrics to be about Largo…to me they are just so obviously about Bond...

    Higgins? Barbel?

Prep in the SABS is underway, we will be on time. Hullo M! Haven’t seen You in ages.
Re topic at hand, it’s confusing, the lyrics seem split. But I too always thought it was about Bond, not the Baddie. Plus unlike say a Goldfinger or Drax, Largo is not a Kingpin... he answers to Spectre.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Have checked in at the SABS, thanks TB2.
Higgins may be a little late tonight, and has asked me to run things till he gets here. I'll start a time check in about an hour.
