Machine that’s cleared for take off..... Scaramanga’s Flying car.....
    A good decade before Dangermouse!

It’s the matter of fact ness of the scene that makes it brilliant.

But the pepper... far too much pepper!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

    Slide whistles at the ready...

I think Barry was too hard on himself about that when looking back regretfully at it. The whole context of the stunt was comic, with JW "wheeeeeing" in the car immediately afterwards. I can understand the slide whistle choice.

Until they arrive in Scaramanga's island I think TMWTGG has a cheap, TV movie feel. The 70's colour scemes don't help.

If you‘ve ever been to Thailand, you may realize that many of the locations look far better than real life there does.

Music “In Search of Scaramanga’s Island” Wonderful scenery, wonderful music

Flying taxies are just a few years into the future. The flying car is a bad scene, but Bond using one in Bond26 would be a nice callback.

That carplane looks like it could have fallen out of the sky at any moment.

Love the cut to M's disbelieving expression. Reminds me of Sanchez's line to Krest: "Like a little dicky-bird?"

Is there a story behind Bond’s bubble seaplane? It’s a quirky design!

Machine that goes ping.... the planes homer screen, reminiscent of the Aston’s in GF.

Question: it's kinda unclear but did Scaramanga's car have everything that it needed internally to turn the car into an aircraft OR was there additional apparatus present in that building to specifically transform the car?

Well, the later and it‘s shown

I rarely notice fashion, but Bond's jacket looks horrid!

Scaramanga's "harmless toy" golden pistol looks a lot more cool than his 70s assembly-kit weapon imho.

Did Scaramanga drink Black Velvet in the novel as well?

This is Peter Murton. And some of the shots are of a Derek Meddings miniature of the set. What it's lacking, I feel, is having numerous boiler-suited technicians all over the place.

I‘ve ordered Black Velvet on our last cruise and had to explain it to the bartenders.
Second time they remembered and said that they liked the taste.
Some other passengers joined me with it

"Yes .... I could stay here forever". I actually like her line reading.
And Lee and Moore get some great lines.

Derek Meddings' work on the solar panels... a bit like his Thunderbirds/Tracy Island work for Gerry Anderson.

Agreed. Mr Meddings always said it was important to have context. The Space suited soldiers in MR for example. The Solex station seems lacking, because it’s empty.
