Question about Levis Menlo Skyfall Jacket

Hey guys, qq for you guys. I have a skyfall jacket I am thinking of buying on ebay. Seller says hes second owner, but jacket is in very good shape. I'm looking at the jacket in the photos and if just seems like there are some odd sections of the jacket. Almost like some weird creases exist or something. Am I over thinking this? Is this just the finish on this specific jacket? (which i know can vary jacket to jacket).

Specific spots are on the bottom of the back and bottom of the front. Almost looks like someone took a knife to the jacket. Am i crazy? Is it just the light?

Here's the listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Levis-Vintage-Clothing-LVC-1930s-Menlo-Brown-Leather-Jacket-Skyfall/133515087463?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225074%26meid%3Dfe7ccafe4ee248a1bc5f39352e596fbd%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D133515087463%26itm%3D133515087463%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DLevi%27s&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Aebcc52b1-0382-11eb-96db-74dbd18011a2%7Cparentrq%3Ae1b612a41740ac3c1750a9dafff38bd4%7Ciid%3A1&autorefresh=true

I think I see what you are referring too, did you ask the seller about those marks and how they got there? I would guess that they are not damage but just part of the aging on the jacket, but whether they are or whether they are damage, the question is are they going to bother you? If so, then I'd pass, if not, then go for it. I think the jackets are pretty significantly "aged" so there will likely be some variances. I'm no expert, just my .02

thanks for reply. He said the jacket is in great condition so I assume its just the aging on this specific piece, but just wasn't 100% sure.

yea, I noticed there was another one on ebay, an xl, you might look at the wear on it, it is different but there are definitely some areas that have worn differently than other areas, it just seems to be the nature of the beast

I'm not an expert but those look to be striations in the leather: which I think are basically stretchmarks in the skin of the original animal. Generally they're not regarded as defects and actually quite desirable in some leathers.

I guess it's up to you whether you like them or not, but I wouldn't say they're signs of damage and would have been there from when it was made. You do mean the sort of stripes most visible in the lowest part under the belt in the rear shot?

    yup exactly, appreciate that.

I'm pretty sure mine has a few even- I can take a photo of them if you want. It's not something I mind at all, and I've actually got another (different style) jacket on order where I've specified the striated leather option and it costs a bit more.

Bit late to this but for future reference I own a Menlo and the distressing done to achieve a 1930s vintage look is the most intense of any leather jacket I have seen or owned.

Some parts look very scraped/sanded and even shiny.

I even asked a friend who works with leather and she said not to attempt to repair it but appreciate it.

It has somewhat grown on me.
