John Barry's swinging arrangement of the theme and gloriously colourful microdots chasing around the screen.

Even after so many viewings it feels a little odd going straight from the gunbarrel to the main titles. One element of the traditional formula that wasn't quite there in the first film is the pre-title sequence. There aren't all that many Bondian traditions that weren't established in the first film though, to the credit of the filmmakers.

Let's find oout as we go if we are properly in sync. I was a bit late with my Go because of the 60 second delay.

The early Strangways stuff really does feel like Fleming's stuff on film.

One of my favourite things about Dr No is that it captures a snapshot of Jamaica as it was when Ian Fleming was still around and spending his holidays there writing the Bond books.

And hello to Nikki van der Zyl, making her first voice role in this film- though very far from her last.

    Brilliant tense first scenes...

I noticed one of the three blind mice blew at the muzzle of the silencer, just like Bond does later on.

The fast editing makes the killing of the W6N woman quite distressing.

I wonder how close the coms room scene was to the real MI6 at the time?
  • Shady TreeShady Tree London, UKPosts: 2,998MI6 Agent
    The signals guys are unflappable.

The chap at the casino 'looking for Mister James Bawnd' is an English public school twerp the antithesis of Connery.

And here's our man, the late Sir Sean. Great line delivery.

The music in this casino scene isn't bad, is it? Thank you John Barry!

    And here he is. :007)

Even a modest looking set like the coms room is probably a lot more glamourous than the reality. :p

The Moneypenny scene is more flirty than what Moore did later

I love how Connery seems so casual about picking up an attractive woman at the casino. It's not until he lays eyes on Honey later on that his eyes really widen.
