I still haven't processed his death. More than anything for me, he has been a style inspiration. Maybe I should really credit Terence Young for that, but Connery wore the clothes, and he usually wore them very well. I've spent half my life trying to figure out why he usually looked so amazing as Bond (it's only half because he was Sean Connery).
possible. Thanks to my chosen profession, I’ve been lucky enough to see a great deal of it. And, whenever I’ve been overseas, from London to Rome to Tangier to Cape Town to Hong Kong, I’ve always thought of Mr. Connery as I’ve walked their streets.
When I was a kid, I learned how to kiss watching him in Goldfinger on the ABC Sunday Night Movie. I stood in front of the bathroom
This is a great tribute to Sir Sean. Thanks for sharing it. -{
By the way, does anyone know if Naomie Harris ever talked about Sean ?
I have the feeling that many young actors of the series don’t really care about the classic Connery era. They never mention it. Can anyone here find an interview with Harris or Ben Wishaw pronouncing the two words « Sean Connery » ?
There's a great thread on Twitter by a couple of guys who worked with Connery on a script. After they'd finalized, the director wanted to get involved in one scene in particular.
"Sean asks the director how he's planning to shoot it. Director says "I'll use movie magic." You could hear the silent anger on Sean's end of the phone. "I started making movies before your daddy started pleasuring himself. I want to know, shot by shot, how you will execute this?"
Somehow, that's how I always envisioned Sean Connery.

That’s an amazing story. It demonstrates that if Connery became a partner in the Bond series like he wanted, he would have put in the work. He had the power to get whatever he wanted. The best part is how he handled customs in the Bahamas!
I am no expert on 007 and do not pretend to be, but I think that if any other actor other than Sean Connery had taken the role of James Bond in the first film, I believe the series would not have been the success they were.

Very sad to hear of the death of the legendary and iconic Sir Sean Connery aged 90. Along with Terence Young he helped to create the template for the Bond film character in Dr. No and started in motion a series of films still being made nearly 60 years later. Connery was the first actor to illuminate Ian Fleming's "silhouette man" on the big screen and the other Bonds that followed Connery's lead either emulated him or tried to differ somewhat from his original approach to the Bond character.
Condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.
"The tough man of the world. The Secret Agent. The man who was only a silhouette." - Ian Fleming, Moonraker (1955).
With all of the actors who've portrayed Bond, my favourite movie of theirs is a Bond movie, except Sean. To the other actors, Bond was a target to shoot for. Connery created Bond onscreen, then used it as a springboard for a most amazing acting career.
So, here's my list, in honour of Sir Sean:
Favourite overall movie: Outland
Favourite Bond: Goldfinger
Favourite almost-Bond: The Rock
Favourite quirky character movie: Highlander
Favourite Dad movie: Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade
Favourite comedy: A Fine Madness
His actual best movie (and this is just my opinion): The Hill

About his actual best movie, I believe it's the opinion of many people. Good taste my friend !
If I had to pick only two films out, it would be The Hill and The Offence. Two masterpieces directed by the great Sidney Lumet and dealing with moral issues that are still relevant nowadays. In both of them, I admire the complexity of the character and the duality he suffers from, with the consequences we know. Sean's performance in The Offence is simply oustanding. That's what I call genuine acting !
By the way, nobody here answered my previous post about the new generation of actors involved in Bond films (Naomie Harris and Ben Wishaw for instance) and the fact they never mention the classic Connery era when they talk about James Bond in general, like if there was nothing before the DC movies.
Does anayone know if NH ever talked about Lois Maxwell to compare with her own vision of Moneypenny ?
If anybody here could give me a link to an article or an interview dealing with this topic, I'd appreciate a lot because it's something I have been wondering for a long time and I've found nothing so far. Thx !
A cartoon script writer had met many celebs but when he met Connery at Bahamas hair dresser he acted like a little kid getting xmas presents......they chatted for ten mins or so

Thankful that the new Bond film NTTD was delayed until April 2021.

He had been sick for a long time. He died in his sleep and didn’t suffer.
