    I agree with the above

Agreed, you can also add Lashana Lynch to those said actresses, I think she did great as Nomi, even for such a role that's less developed, or maybe Lupita Nyong'O.

Yes, they could create a female spy franchise who's going to be a counterpart of Bond, and it would be interesting to see.

I'm also interested in reviving Modesty Blaise, I think she's the ultimate female spy counterpart of Bond, both of them came from the 60's, so seeing her again going up against Bond in the blockbusters would be the most interesting rivalries in Hollywood.

As long as the writing, direction and the acting were great, added with excellent visuals and cinematography, then I'm prepared to pay and watch it, it should also be entertaining.

They could introduce Modesty Blaise along with the release of the new Bond film (Bond 26), have the new Modesty Blaise film be released to counterpart Bond 26 in the cinemas.

Have maybe Rian Johnson do that Modesty Blaise film, he could do it, he could make a thrilling, entertaining and fun out of it, think of what he had done to Knives Out, he could do the same treatment for Modesty Blaise, just cast the right actress for the role, probably in the same vein as Dame Diana Rigg.

I enjoyed Atomic Blonde and thought Charlize Theron was excellent in the role and given her physical presence looked liked she could genuinely kick ass. The action and fight scenes were very good. Shame we haven't had a sequel (yet).

If one ads Lashana Lynch to my list I don't think she should play Nomi. If so the Nomi movies will continue the DC timeline while the new James Bond will start a new one. Confusing!

In reply to MI6_Headquarters: Kaya Scudelario as Modesty Blaise!

Thinking back nearly all the title songs in the first Bond movies of all the actors are energetic. DN, OHMSS, LALD, TLD and CR. GE is more of a power ballad. I hope the title song for Bond26 will be energetic too, leaning towards rock.

  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,856Chief of Staff

Yes, I agree. This isn't the time for another ballad.

  • The Red KindThe Red Kind EnglandPosts: 3,336MI6 Agent

Yep. Needs to be a punchy number, in the mould of LALD and YKMN (not AWTD!)

Regional TV news showed a video from the clearing of of snow in the Trollstigen road. It doesn't look like a boring job:

I've posted photos of the road before:

But not of snow plows clearing the snow for the summer season. Of course this makes me think of Bond. I guess many of us think of OHMSS when we see these photos, but variations can be made. Maybe a snow mobile chase down the mountain side while the snow is being cleared?

The shot with the car reminds me of the setting for the Saab vs Slow plough chase in John Gardner's Icebreaker.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,331MI6 Agent

Yes, I thought about that too. A scene like that would be great.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,331MI6 Agent

I'd like to see a secret message hidden in a plaster cast. The person wearing the plaster can have a real injury or not. This has been done in real life in WWII in northern Norway.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,331MI6 Agent

I want the scripted end scene for TLD to be used. That is Bond landing a large military transport plane (or a Learjet-type civilian plane) on a an aircraft carrier. Bond should be linked with the Navy again, and the RN has two new carriers. This would help setting the new Bond actor apart from CraigBond.

  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,948MI6 Agent

Good point actually; that is a good idea for a scene which I wouldn't mind seeing.

Also one of those unused Dalton scripts had Bond perform a jump from a small plane into a swimming pool on the top of a skyscraper, which I think would be a pretty cool stunt. Maybe a touch dangerous to do for real though!

I don't know. Military special forces parachute into the sea. Will a swimming pool be deep enough? I don't know, but I should think the stuntman can decrease the speed enough?

I know Norwegian special forces (FSK) practiced parachute landings on the helipad on oil rigs in the North Sea. They deemed it to risky for an infiltration of an oil rig, but it's possible. A film production can choose to do it on a day with no wind. They can probably do other things to make it safer than a special forces unit preparing for a potential mission can (said the man who's never been on an oil rig and with no experience in parachuting or filmmaking).

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,331MI6 Agent

Maybe I misunderstood? Was the plan for the plane to go low enough for Bond to jump without a parachute?

Just my two cents on what I could envisage the producers exploring in the next film or series of films in general:

    • exploration of Bond's naval history and/or his time at university
    • outstanding plot points of the Moonraker novel adapted into a film
    • outstanding plot points of DAF novel adapted into a film
    • outstanding plot points of TMWTGG adapted into a film - beginning the next film with Bond brainwashed to kill M would be really cool IMO
    • Use the remaining Fleming titles in some way for the next series of films: Risico, Property of a Lady, Hildebrand, 007 (I think The Hildebrand Rarity would be too obscure for people to get but Hildebrand could work if it refers to something decent in the film. 007 in New York is also a but naff as a title but just 007 could work. In fact I seem to recall, that at the 11th hour QOS was going to be called 007 - can anyone support or counter me on this?)

I'd rather have the brainwashing happen to another 00-agent and after the new Bond actor is more settled in the role, maybe in Bond28? This way we can also get to know the other 00-agent (in short scenes) and M.

I'll second this. We need a break from the ballads.

I'm re-reading Fleming's OHMSS and I saw the line: "You made me very unhappy keeping me away from the sea. One day, if I get very unhappy I shall swim out into the sea, down the path of the moon or the sun, and I'll go on swimming until I sink."

I hope at least the last part of this line can be used in a Bond movie. Maybe by a Bond girl or other character who loves swimming and the sea. In the novel it's Marc-Ang Draco remembering a childhood tantrum by Tracy. The word "unhappy" sounds a bit childish perhaps. Maybe the first line would work better if it's changed to "You made me feel very down keeping me away from the sea."?

  • The Red KindThe Red Kind EnglandPosts: 3,336MI6 Agent

Or "You made me feel very sad keeping me away from the sea" perhaps.

I suppose, similar to Greene saying "And that made me very sad...thinking I would never see you again".

I would love to see more Fleming lines in the films. So much untapped material there.

I'd love to see a Bond girl who's an osceanographer and loves the sea and diving, and such a character could say that line. Fleming himself loved the sea and we haven't really seen diving scenes filled with adventure and wonder since ..... FYEO perhaps. A Bond girl like that can be used in the plot quoted below about deep sea mining. I'd love to see Samara Weaving as an Australian osceanographer working on exploring and protecting the Great Barrier Reef.

    (from villain/plot ideas)

Deep sea mining is a hot topic. A lot of very valuable minerals like diamonds and gold can be mined under the sea. So can less known, but very valuable minerals like zinc and manganse. This type of mining is very controversial because of the destruction to life in the sea. The rich life at the bottom of the sea was something Ian Fleming was very fascinated by. Imagine a villain who secretly and illegally mines the seabed in maybe the Arctic or near the Great Barrier Reef. The surface ships are explained away by saying they're just doing scientific research. He/she may do it to get enough of a mineral needed for some evil plan or simply to get the money for the great plan.

  • The Red KindThe Red Kind EnglandPosts: 3,336MI6 Agent

It would be very on-point and relative to have a villain trying to exploit this. I'd be up for it. I like the industrialist villains like Goldfinger, Drax, Zorin, Greene and we haven't had one for a while.

I agree that an oceanographer or marine biologist would be a good call. She could be a free diver in her spare time. I'm thinking somebody like Siri Ostvold; https://www.siriostvold.com/ I'm a great admirer of hers.

Do you remember when NTTD was being filmed and we learned a car chase would be filmed on the Trollstigen road in Norway? A while we believed it was Bond, but it turned out it was the Norwegian action/comedy "Børning 3". While we Norwegians would like to think the Børning movies are big international hits, in reality this means Trollstigen can still be used for an action scene in an international blockbuster (read Bond). Here is a behind-the-scenes video of the Børning Trollstigen car chase to to give you a sense of the possibilities:

    Do you see the possibilities?

    This is Trollstigen:

Let's see... Reboot the character, like they did with Casino Royale.

They need to rewatch all the films and make a list of what worked and what doesn't, and what can still be applied today. For example:

Big lavish Villain lair for the finale. Bring that back. I miss seeing the bad guys headquarters. Atleast in some form.

Give us a Bond girl that has chemistry with 007, but doesn't shoehorn in romance. Like Quantum of Solace. They weren't lovers, but she's still a Bond Girl. You focused more in their story than any other forced love story. I don't mind when they fall for each other, but only when they bounce off the other really well and it sells it. Like Bond and Natalya in GoldenEye. Or Vesper and Bond.

Set up a few recurring characters of MI6. It's always good when we see the same people from the get go, so they're established so well by the 2nd or 3rd film with this next actor.

Don't be afraid to get a little cheesy with the villain. Whether it's some physical abnormality ( Odd-jobs hat throwing, Jaws teeth and size, Xenia's leg squeeze). Same with cheesy lines, let the villains do what they do best, be ridiculous and overdramatic in the best ways. And give us a group of them a big bad villain with hench people. Or give us like 2 big villains for a film. Sometimes villains work together!

Don't give us an expected twist to a story that involves an emotional connection with Bond. Unless it's with an already existing established character. But don't make it come out of left field. No step brother plot lines with villains! If we're getting something that's emotional, use it wisely, like Vesper Lynd. Other than that, Bond should be shooting bad guys and traveling to gorgeous locations meeting new people. Don't Introduce any family members of 007 or characters from his past.

My two cents.. Nolan at the direction, Cavill, Bale or Ryan Gosling as James Bond, or just bring back Craig and do a 1950/60’s-themed trilogy

  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,948MI6 Agent

Yes that's right; jump with no parachute. A bit dangerous if you miss!

It's amazing that the Broccoli/Wilson family have being almost nothing but make James Bond films for more than sixty years but they still seem to be semi-clueless.
