Gap between NTTD and B26
So, will the gap between NTTD and Bond 26 be longer than the gap between LTK and GE?

My guess is yes. Eon appears to move with the same speed as continental drift.

🤣🤣🤣
As I've said elsewhere on AJB (you can guess where), I would like to apologise to sloths for any comparison I may have made between them and Eon. I also think yes, and at this rate we'll be lucky if the gap is less than that between the two films of "Casino Royale".
Yeah I'm also thinking it will be longer, hence this thread. It's a shame really, and during this long gap we will continue to get all these false articles on who the next bond will be. I truly think that they have written themselves into a corner with Craig's tenure, as good as it was.

I will be happily stunned if we get a Bond film by 2030.
I chose to believe something will be done this year and we'll know the director and hopefully more next year if not before. Naive and proud of it! 👍
I’m seriously wondering if I will ever see a new Bond film again - but then again I’m not in the least bit excited about it happening anyway. I’m more than happy watching the 1962-1989 films (with CR06 thrown into the mix).
Personally I'm think it's will be exciting to see what they'll do next (and IF they'll do anything this year ....). Ir could be good, it could be bad, but the range of possibilities haven't been more open since DN.
Barbara doesn't seem to want to make these films anymore, which is entirely her choice. She inherited the series, and seems more interested in serious, art-house fare. Whether it's lack of love or work ethic, I do not know.
I'm convinced that she will sell her share to Amazon, and that she will do this partly to fund her own films (of which none have turned a profit). Not to be personal, but she's not getting any younger and may want to focus on what she truly loves. Added to which, Bond will be going into the public domain in ten years, which shall be its own headache.
The alternative is another film at the end of 2027 at the very earliest, but I'd say 2029 would be more likely.
I could, of course, be wrong about everything.
James Bond funds those art films and stage productions even with a partner. Bond is the family business. Don't Barbara B. and Michael Wilson have children poised to have larger role and perhaps take over at some point. Of course if EON did choose to sell their half of Bond (and lest we not forget that EON actually makes the films) unless Amazon has some right of first refusal (Amazon bought MGM which included their piece of Bond) EON could hypothetically sell their Bond rights to someone else, someone who they would feel more comfortable with entrusting the Bond cinematic legacy to (like Christopher Nolan's Production Company).
What will come first? A manned mission to Mars or the next Bond film.
IMO there are really no excuses for the interminable gaps between films.

+1.
I disagree. Babs 'n' Mikey are under no obligation to create any further product for us, they are not our employees. They are artists who make a choice to create and we should be grateful for anything we get.
Sorry if I am posting in the wrong forum, but didn't the Fleming books enter the public domain in 2015? Why have there not been countless books written and published already based on Fleming's literary Bond?
The copyright situation is complicated and depends which country you are in.

There was a collection of short stories published in Canada called License Expired , I filed a Report on it here
and I havent heard of any other publications in Canada since, and this one seemed to have disappeared fairly quickly, making me wonder if the publishers were not on as firm legal ground as they assumed? or even if technically legal, it may not be worth the potential hassles with IFP's lawyers
Yes I remember that there was talk of a TV show possibly going into production in Canada (which may have been based on these short stories).
Nothing seems to have materialized so is it possible that James Bond is protected by the rights held by Danjaq.
Public domain rights will not stop oceans of legal wrangling from Eon from stopping anyone putting anything Bond related onto the small or large screen - the legal costs alone will make it unrealistic to even try. We’re stuck with Eon and one producer who has lost all interest in the franchise and another who while I’m sure he has the will to do it very probably hasn’t the energy to see it through. At some point Eon will sell and only then will we see any developments in a new movie.
I disagree with your disagreement 😁 as licence holders I think they do have a duty to create further product for fans and if they don’t want to do it themselves they should have the guts to sell up and let someone else take over. Cubby must be turning in his grave at how it’s all playing out.
If we don't see Bond 26 until 2026, It's amazing to think that in the same time gap between NTTD and Bond 26, you can fit all of Connery's (first tenure) films..🙁
And I agree with the disagreement of the disagreement!

When you put it that way...

Er .. I think I do as well but I may have misunderstood about which disagreement I'm agreeing with.
The gap would be equal to B26 releasing in around March 2027. I expect to see the film before that date. Let's make the wait interesting. I'd be up for a little wager that we get it before 2027.
For someone interested in "serious arthouse fare", she doesn't make very many of them.
If Babs doesn't want to make these movies anymore should sell her rights to the franchise or put it in the hands of someone who cares. There is absolutely no reason why we can't get a new Bond flick every 3 years. I never believed the ATJ rumors because we are no where near making a new Bond movie yet. I'm hoping for 2026 but 2027 seems more realistic, sadly.
It's absolutely incredible how much money is being foregone due to these continued ridiculously long periods between films. Why wouldn't they have already picked and named a successor to Bond immediately following the release of No Time to Die ..... THREE YEARS AGO??? If Broccoli doesn't care about the hundreds of millions of dollars of profit that the movie would have earned, then she could have done it for the fans and donated the money to charity..... rather than accomplish what exactly?
In fairness I don't think we fans like the movies that much anymore! So it's hoping for hoping's sake. I liked Spectre a lot, but most fans don't. From Barbara Broccoli's point of view can you imagine it, it's just a drag having to think up new stuff, esp given that it could be argued that Bond isn't that admirable a character, it was the buzz of likeable actors like Connery and Moore - and Brosnan - that made it work, without that you have to confront the whole point of the character, a loner, a killer and so on.
Reading behind the scenes' stuff, both producers leave it late in the day on the script and the casting, they don't really seem on it, they don't have to be as each one is a blockbuster anyway.
Roger Moore 1927-2017
I loved Spectre myself. I still have a blast watching it. I haven't watched NTTD since the theaters here in the USA in 2021? Has it been that long? This Johnson guy that keeps getting thrown around for the next film is the same guy from Godzila 2014. I won't be able to un-see it.
They, whoever, need to do a period piece with a Connery look a like back in the 60's. Anything other than that may very likely be a dissapointment for me. They may as well take their time to get it right at this point.
Taking their time we are already sure of. Getting it right, not so much.
@Barbel agreed. Personally, I'd rather see a return to the 'production line' days and the wonderful but untaxing adventure romps rather than a quest for masterpieces.
