What is probably the remains of a temple to the Norse gods such as Odin and Thor has been found about half an hour's drive from here. No other pagan temples has been found in Norway, so this is very exciting for a history buff like me!

An artist's illustration of how the temple could have looked:

You can find a computer animation of what it looked like here: https://www.nrk.no/mr/sensasjonelt-funn-av-heidensk-kulthus-i-orsta-1.15178077

This article about swearing parrots made me laugh and cheered me up, after a tough evening. :)) Hopefully, it will do the same for anyone else who needs a laugh.

I just found out my sister doesn't use a saw or axe to cut the Christmas tree - they shot it with a shotgun! :))
Several families meet up in a forrest on a farm and warm hotdogs on a fire. Then they search for good Christmas trees. 3-4 people bring shotguns and they shoot the trunks of the trees off. Brilliant!
  • lotusguy2001lotusguy2001 Posts: 132MI6 Agent
But after they shoot it, don’t they have to saw the trunk even in order to set the tree up?
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,701MI6 Agent
    I didn't ask.

People with very good memories may remember most of the cabin by the frozen lake scenes for NTTD were filmed in Hakadal. I'm listening to a podcast about the Norwegian kings. (wait for the link ...)
Harald Fairhair became the first king of Norway because a beautiful woman named Gyda said she only would marry him if he gathered all of Norway into his kingdom. One of the first kings he killed was king Hake. hence "Hakkadal. the valley of Hake". Hake's father kept fighting Harald for a while before he too lost in battle and died. His name was Gandalf! It is likely this Gandalf was the inspiration for the name of Tolkien's wizard, because it was a rare name and Tolkinen no doubt read "Heimskringla", the saga of the Norwegian kings, by Snorri Sturlason.
Yet another link between LotR and 007! :D

I can see another imaginary conversation coming :))

Did Gyda marry Harald? Hope she didn't change her mind!

Yes, she did. And Gandalf's full name was Gandalf Alvgeirsson, meainng "son of elf-spear"! :D

Gyda stating the rather strict pre-conditions for marriage. Not a word about taking out the garbage or putting the toilet seat down, only conqering all of Norway would do:

Thanks for picture N24. Taking out the garbage and putting the toilet seat down comes later!

Talking of LofR, reminds me of seeing the 2nd film (I think) with the family. Part way through, my husband needed a visit to the toilet and from where we were sitting, the only way to get there was to go past the screen. Not wanting to spoil the film for the viewers, he bent down and ran across, with only his head and shoulders showing. Just at that time, angry orcs came charging out of nowhere and it looked like they were chasing my husband :)) Everybody laughed but he was completely oblivious :))

I am unsure where to post these questions so decided to put them here.

I am saddened for those who were looking forward to NTTD. As for me I am happy to wait.

I think Daniel Craig being replaced is a good idea. Of the clips of the new film I have seen he is looking too old to play Bond any more.

I was wondering if any one could answer these questions.

Will the next film script already be written or developed or will they wait until NTTD is released?

Will the search for the new actor already be under way? Or will that also wait until after NTTD?

It has been my opinion for some time that they take too long to make each film since Craig took the job. I hope they can begin to shorten this time when the new actor comes to the role. I am not blaming Craig for this, but the film makers just seem to drag their feet more than is required.

I doubt it, seems that lately they kind of wait for the actor being cast , then get going on the direction. I think Craig still looks okay, not too old looking and still tough. I think they’d keep him around if he wanted to stay, which is why I’m not sure next Bond will be young, they may just go with a more mature (40’s) actor or actress? If they decide to return to loosely connected episodic adventures again.

EON has been very clear that they won't cast an actress as Bond. Even if they're hoping for Craig to return again I hope and suspect they are interviewing and screentesting other actors just in case, much like they did in the early 80's.

They could always cast a male actor who identifies as Female ? ;)

Prime minister Erna Solberg with a "Erna is watching" face mask. I love it when politicians make fun of themselves. While this country is ranked as one of the most free, we are a member of Nine Eyes :D

Our movie watchalongs were great fun, but sadly they did not end on a high. I suggest we revive the "franchise" two more times and watch "The guns of Navarone" and "Where eagles dare" together. In my opinion the two movies are the military/war versions of James Bond and I know many of us love them. Besides, NTTD is pushed back again so we need some fun in our lives and in AJB in particular.
What we shouldn't do is to decide on a date and hope for the best. We have to find out how many members are interested and then find a date when as many as possible can join. Who wants to do it?
