  • The Spy Who Never DiesThe Spy Who Never Dies UKPosts: 644MI6 Agent
Maybe Ocean's 8? Not that I've seen it. Magic Mike?? :)) Not that I know what you're talking about!
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
    Ocean's 8, I'd agree. I enjoyed it, love a
    Caper movie.
There's also " carve her name with pride "

I enjoyed the other ones but 8 doesn't really appeal to me. I probably will watch it one day.

I'm watching a documentary on Elton John and the reccord title "Ice on fire" was mentioned. I think it sounds very much like a James Bond title. :007)
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,060Chief of Staff
....and oddly enough there's a song on it called "Shoot Down The Moon" which Elton had hoped would be used for the next Bond film. As we all know now, Duran Duran got the job that year.

The original plot which Richard Maibaum and MGW came up with for AVTAK had the villain forcing Halley's Comet which was due that year, down to Earth, hence why Elton's song might have been considered appropriate. It's still a beautiful Bernie Taupin ballad.

I was on TV last week!

I was interviewed by my local TV about covid restriction while I was on my way to my work.

I think this may be my opportunity! I have written to Barbara Broccoli and asked her to watch the clip. I am sure she will want to cast me in the next James Bond film! I have already said in the letter that, even if she begs, I will not play James Bond but I will be either 006 or 008.

I put on a Sean Connery accent for the interview, but perhaps that might not have worked?!
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,709MI6 Agent
Did you remember to say "sh" instead of "s"? In that case I'm sure you'll get cast as the next Bond just weeks after NTTD is released. Unless you're born before 1990, because then you'll be too old by that time. :))
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
Could be the start of something big Joshua ;)

I recently watched a review of The Last Crusade and the reviewer made the point that he thought
G Lucas put as many " SH" in to the dialog for Sir Sean as he could get :D

Typhoon Rolly is approaching the Philippines. It looks like the northern islands will get the worst of it, we may catch the outer edge, so will not be too bad.

I posted some thing similar elsewhere but I wonder if anyone agree that if Sean Connery had not been given the part of James Bond and it had gone to one of the other actors who were considered, that Doctor No and the series as a whole would not have been the hit it became?

I think it was Connery's force of personality and his real life masculinity that carried the film through to be the great success it was.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I agree, Sean had that special something that on screen connected with a cinema audience
Obviously he was very masculine and over time became an Icon. He was a huge reason
( along with many other talented people ) for the early success of the Bond series.

The new lock down approaches. For any one who has a car MOT due to expire during the lock down (as mine will) just to inform you that I called this morning to my MOT station. They will not be closing during lock down as I was able to book an MOT test for next Monday.

I guess this will apply to all MOT testing stations so if your car is due to be tested you can simply call them as normal to arrange.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
The MOT can be a bit confusing over here ( N.Ireland ) nine was due in Feb, but due to
Faulty equipment ( Not Mine ) In the test centre, it was extended for three months.
Then covid hit and we got a full years extension, Only to check on line to lean that I
needed one for the end of December. So I called the Info line only to be told NO, I'm
fine until February 2021 ! ..... So I'm hoping that was correct or, I'll be getting a fine
from the police :# This could lead to me spiralling down in to the criminal class, to
    Become a criminal mastermind ...... oh Er ! :D

I just want to alert everybody that tomorrow's watchalong has changed from "The guns of Navarone" to Dr No in honour of the late sir Sean Connery. We comment on this thread while we watch: https://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/53185/tuesday-nov-3rd-1900-gmt-lets-watch-dr-no-together/

Is face mask porn a thing yet I imagine removing a face mask must now carry the same erotic appeal as that of removing a brassiere. I don't like to investigate myself as I am above all that now.

    TP will like this.
The guy who lives opposite us has one of those annoying security lights on his house. Sometimes, we can see the light through our front door which is glass. Earlier tonight, our neighbour’s work van was parked outside our house and with the light it made a silhouette of a man standing outside our front door, but not just any man! It was the perfect silhouette of Batman! :D Very cool. At some point during this time Mr Spy was standing next to the back door and of course, I just had to say Batman’s at the front door and the Joker’s at the back door. :))
