    RIP Sir Sean Connery.
So sad to hear of his passing. A legend.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

Yes. On Sir Sean's 90th birthday the BBC wheeled out a Talking Pictures-style documentary tribute, narrated by the comedian and actor John Sessions. As this sort of thing is usually done by the veteran actress Sylvia Syms, who must be getting on now, I felt a bit resentful that she hadn't done it this time but was replaced by the young whippersnapper, who in his narration sounded a bit like the late Clive James.

Anyway, as it turns out, Sessions didn't last much longer than Sir Sean, and did a fine job of narratng the doc.

    Ladies and Gents,

It is my sad duty to report that veteran actor and dear friend of Dame Judi, Geoffrey Palmer has passed, peacefully at home.
Although he played numerous characters over a highly successful acting career, he is probably still best remembered
as Lionel in As Time Goes by and of course to us, as Admiral Roebuck in Tomorrow Never Dies.

    Mr Palmer was 93.

    Bugger.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

    RIP Geoffrey Palmer, although 93
Is a great age to reach. I always
Remember him as the Doctor in
    The fawlty Towers episode with
    The dead guest.

Sad to hear of the death of Geoffrey Palmer. 93 is a good innings though.

RIP Geoffrey Palmer, really enjoyed him in TND and in As Time Goes By, both my mother and my aunt would watch this show with me on both BBC America and PBS when they showed it. Not since my aunt introduced me to Are You Being Served? have I laughed at a British produced comedy show so loud and long.

Alex Trebek passed away this morning at the age of 80 from pancreatic cancer! The crazy thing is that he was still filming up until October 29th. I hope him and Sean are together playing Jeopardy!

Yes, now Alex can host the Celebrity Jeopardy's with Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds and maybe Marlon Brando

No tributes to Des O’Connor? Surprised to see I’m the first, no doubt Des is up there, already getting the mick taken out of him by Eric and Ernie! RIP

Sad to hear of the death of Des O'Connor at the age of 88. He always seemed like such a good-natured man who didn't mind a laugh at his own expense. Here he is on one of his shows with the brilliant stand-up comic Mick Miller:

Just heard Maradona has died aged 60, RIP.
For those who are old enough -- and I imagine, especially for those who are English and old enough -- to have seen him during his career, Diego Maradona is mostly likely viewed with a sense of wonder. Not all wonder is fond, mind you -- the "Hand of God" is as rotten a goal as has ever been scored, and his drug use and frequent obnoxiousness was a turn-off. But the man was a comet, both on and off the pitch. "Hand of God" aside, his next goal (just four minutes later) is arguably the most famously great one of all time, and no football/soccer player has ever single-handedly (pun intended) lifted his team to a victory like Maradona did in 1986. We may never see another package like him. RIP.
