Also Biden's family came from Ireland, so a state visit must be on the cards , that

I am relieved to hear that you will accept the result with grace. You don't have to agree with it, just respect the majority vote.

Until I read your post I thought that you might begin to blame Emimem for interfering with Kanye's chances of winning and that Kanye was lying when he promised he would not go on tour if he won!

On twitter Donald continues to whine like a petulant child that wants no nap time.
Devious voter manipulation (Both foreign & domestic) was rampant on social media again (as well as on right wing talk shows), but actual voter fraud is like last election: not very much. Main source of voter 'tampering' came from Don's boy DeJoy sabotaging millions of dollars worth of postal equipment under the guise of retiring outdated machinery (just before they'd be really needed during an election with an unusually high number of mail-in ballots).
    Bye Don, have a nice escape flight to the USSR.... -{

    Blackadder election results :D

    This is disgraceful behaviour!

I suspect this election was interfered with by the American colonists. Also the clip does not mention the lies told by the adder party. I watched the whole programme and it showed the adder party going round the area on a big red horse drawn coach!

It will be interesting to see, if the UK leader change their position re. a Hard Brexit and the Ireland issue now that Biden takes office.

Biden made it pretty clear that he will not support any weakening of the Good Friday Agreement and a trade deal may be (edited) not his highest priority.

I saw an interview with one of his people on BBC. He said that there would be no interference from Biden regarding Brexit.

Joe Biden has much more to worry about than Brexit. He has to convince almost 50% of his own voters, voters who think that he has won by means of electoral fraud, that he has the legitimate right to be president. They will not go away and if he is seen to be 'interfering' with UK affairs will do him no good.

As for Trump, I believe his strategy now will be to cause as much damage to Biden and the Democrats as he is able before he leaves office. The more mud he throws the more will stick with the people who are Trump supporters. His aim will be to undermine and de-legitimise Biden before he even takes office.

How does Biden counter and then hope to settle the divisions a little? Hold a full independent investigation into the election. If he does this and it is proved there is no wrong doing then he can move forward, free of the allegations.

If he doesn't then the Trump supporters will ask why? What is he trying to hide?

I think Trump will become the Nigel Farage of the USA, not in power but with influence, ready to mobilise his supporters against Biden at any time of his choosing.

This, of course, is only my opinion.

Please note, I have taken time to write this 'off line' and paste it here. For those who do not know me, English writing is not my first language. I hope I can make myself clearer by doing this instead of just writing on to the site.

Well stated, but take into account that Trump may end up in prison after he leaves office. But that may take years....

chrisisall do you think that any attempt to prosecute Trump, for what ever reason, would be like pouring petrol on the flames? I think Trump would perhaps relish the thought of being brought into court as he would be able to claim that it was part of the 'great conspiracy' against him - and by association - his supporters?

I have heard that several legal challenges are being made against the election results, but I am not sure that the sources of this news are reliable.

I think Biden would be well advised not to play into Trump's hands on any matter by offering him the ability to keep his fraud theories alive and in the front of the public's mind. If he can politely ignore everything Trump will say or do over the coming months (and years) he may be able to take some of the sting out of what Trump has planned.

In normal circumstances Trump would be side lined anyway but his voter base is just too great for that.

It will be a tricky situation to handle which ever way Biden attempts to deal with it.

    Who‘s betting against me?
I say, that Trump will pardon himself prior to leaving office!

As for stepping back prosecuting him to appease his followers:
Not sure if that would work. His fans are angry - no matter what Biden does.

In my opinion, Trump will start his own Media Company, ranting for 4 years against the current administration (and he may make a lot of money by doing that) and run again in 4 years.
The GOP has been too long complicit with his actions and are a one-trick pony. If anyone else runs for POTUS in 2024, Trump will be out to destroy him/her.

I think if Trump ends up in prison it will be on charges filed by New York State. Multiple civil (for now) investigations are underway in New York. Trump cannot pardon himself on state charges.

It's doubtful Trump can pardon himself for Federal crimes, but the Supreme Court will need to decide the issue if it comes to that.

Right now, Trump & Co are restructuring all over. Multiple firings & new peeps in major positions. What does this smell like? Some say cover up, some say an attempt to stay in office by force.
My call? Trump is lame, and he hires lame jerks. This is a half-arsed attempt at staying in until the Supreme Court rules that he can investigate the vote (for years), and replace folk who can't testify against him & his mob style running of the Government in case that doesn't work out.
    This is a world class s**t show folks- get out your popcorn for the finale, and thanks for all your support thus far! -{

I'm relived that 3/4 of Americans axept Biden's win. As expected Trump did not axept the result, in my opinion because in hi smind he cant't possibly lose. But the consitution and the checks and balances will work and Trump will have to leave the White House.

Yes, it was mentioned once or twice in the media (actually the coverage was shocking, perhaps 10-15 hours of broadcast daily last week. I'm not sure a Norwegian elelction would have been covered this much here :)) )

Trump and his people have started lots of law suits to stay in the white house in spite of the election results, about 30 have been lost or thrown out of court. Not one piece of evidence to back up the claims about election fraud has been presentd to any court. Trump and the Republicans are really moving the country in a new direction. Do they really want the US to look like a banana republic? At least Putin must be delighted since his goal is to make the West and democracy to look liek a sham and inefficient .... :#

I think Putin would have preferred a Trump win as Trump owes an awful lot of money - quite of chunk of it has been bought up by Russians...

A Trump win would probably be best for Putin, but the chaos and lack of respect for the basic rules of democracy is probably nearly as awsome for Putin (and any other dictator in the world).
  • chrisisallchrisisall Western Mass, USAPosts: 9,061MI6 Agent
And Trump is handing Putin consolation prizes. Most recently he ordered the only two surveillance planes we use to be physically scrapped. That prolly put a big ole grin on Putty's mug.

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has rejected a Republican attempt to throw out 2.5 million votes.
"We have not seen any examples of voter fraud or illegal votes by mail" said the judge (quoting from memory, but that was the gist of it).
Rupublican have tried using the courts to throw out votes using the courts many times since the election, but have the Republicans presented any proof of election fraud to the courts?
Trump and other leading party leaders must have tons of proof since they accused the Democrats of stealing the election, right? :))

It looks like there will be a no-deal Brexit, or "Australia-style" deal. My predictions are it won't be good for Britain (or the EU to a lesser degree) and a deal will be struck in 2021.
