Topic: New Bond Book: The Lost Adventures of James Bond

Check out my new book on James Bond!

The Lost Adventures of James Bond: Timothy Dalton’s Third and Fourth Bond Films, James Bond Jr., and Other Unmade or Forgotten 007 Projects

The James Bond universe is greater than you might think. Even if you have seen all the movies and devoured Ian Fleming’s books, there is much more to discover about 007. There is a fascinating galaxy of Bond adventures that have been “lost” or unmade, out-of-print, or forgotten by even the most dedicated Bond fan.

Through his probing interviews with their creators in THE LOST ADVENTURES OF JAMES BOND, Mark Edlitz uncovers different scenarios for Timothy Dalton’s abandoned third and fourth Bond movies, questions Toby Stephens about playing 007 on the radio, delves into the unproduced Casino Royale play, and exposes the secret history of James Bond Jr, the animated series about 007’s nephew. Edlitz also solves a long-standing Bond mystery, investigates the cheeky commercial which inserts Daniel Craig into a Roger Moore-style escapade, and reveals the story behind Sean Connery’s lost Bond performance.

These and other projects are revealed in this vastly entertaining and enlightening book. Using never-before-seen photographs, Edlitz uncovers a wealth of unexplored lore. THE LOST ADVENTURES OF JAMES BOND is a must for any Bond fan.

Yes.
How about a link to purchase it?

I read a review of this on Daily Mirror Online. Thd review rather revealed all the surprises, but it sounds like a good read, Mark.

Thanks for asking about the link.  I just added it to the original post.

Not to worry about spoilers though. The book is over 400 pages. So plenty of surprises left!

Re: New Bond Book: The Lost Adventures of James Bond

I just got the book and merely a few pages in I am already enjoying it! Typically I’d like having Bond-related reading during the holidays that just adds to the magical feeling of the season. But I didn’t have anything set aside this year, so finding out about this book just a few days ago and having it already available was a pleasant surprise! I also wish to add just how lucky Mark is, who recounted in the Introduction (SPOILER ALERT, LOL) how he got to meet four of the Bond actors...wow!!!

Superado --- I'm with you.  A little Bond over a holiday or a long weekend makes it all the more special.  Very pleased that the book will be a part of this holiday for you.

Re: New Bond Book: The Lost Adventures of James Bond

My copy just arrived today and I am looking forward to reading it. I am glad that the James Bond Jr. cartoon*  is among the topics covered along the un-produced third and fourth movies starring Timothy Dalton and even the recent comic book series from Dynamite comics.  Looking forward to reading these sections especially.

*I hope that at some future point Eon will reconsider putting James Bond Jr. on DVD or Blu Ray. While it might not be the greatest cartoon spun off from a popular movie series, I have seen far worse in my time.

PPK 7.65mm --- Glad to meet a James Bond Jr. fan.  I figure it was an important topic to cover.  Eon put a lot of effort into creating the show.  So I wanted to learn what it was like to work on it.  Without giving too much away, I interviewed the co-creator, co-director, writers, and even the lyricist of the theme-song!  For better or for worse, I think this is the most comprehensive accounting of the making of the show.

Ok, stoopid question...is there a difference in content between the two different cover versions...or is it just a cover variation and £1.09 difference...?  ajb007/smile

I downloaded this and Roger Moore's LaLD diary for free with my Kindle Unlimited trial but I started the latter first and I'm still working on it.  This one sounds interesting though.

I have the Dalton cover version. The negative space in the layout is a waste, IMO. I would prefer denser text over fewer pages.

Thanks, will be interesting to see just how much ‘extra space’ there is around the text...maybe I should have bought the other version as I’m running out of space on my bookshelves  ajb007/lol

Tell me about it. I have so many "unhoused" books now that I've had to buy several old bookshelves to hold them. Getting somewhere to place the bookshelves could be a problem too. Oh, the joys of being a book collector...
