Research topic-'Women in Film' specifically the representation of women in Bond films

For a module in my A-Level exam, we have to carry out a research project. The marks gained for this module will go towards my final A-Level grade which is why i am undertaking primary research posting a message. This is where i am researching the topic area “Women in Film” specifically the representation of women in Bond films.

My title is “What do the contemporary Bond films “The World Is Not Enough” (1999) and “Casino Royale” (2006) show us about the changing role of women in society?
Therefore, I would really appreciate it if you could help and answer the following question.

Threads of this nature (i.e "I have to do a project about the role of women in Bond films") spring up about every couple of months. I'm getting really confused as to why this is such a hot topic.

Granted, the Bond films have a cinematic legacy that spans over four decades. But cinema itself has spanned much longer. The Bond films change and adapt to meet the flexing tastes of the audience of the particular time, but don't all films do that?

If there are any changes in the roles or perceptions of women in Bond films, it's most likely going to be reflected in other popular films of the same time frame. And if a Bond film may hold one depiction of woman, the next theater over, an entirely different viewpoint may be seen. So which is the more indicative of the reality of the time?

My opinion is that confining an analysis of 'Women in film' solely to one canon of films rather than a wider sampling of ALL films of an era is akin to looking at fifty years of McDonald's menus and saying it's an indicator of how people's tastes have changed in food over the years.

I always wonder about these topics too, primarily why complete strangers should be providing research information for someone else's work. The movies are available to watch, so why not watch them???

No offence, Mlynowski, but there have been times when this exact same question is brought up two or three times per week. As you may have seen from some of the responses to your post, a lot of people on this site are tired of it. So, it would probably be a lot easier for you to simply use the search box at the top of the screen. Type in the phrases "Bond girls," "Bond women," or just "girls" and "women," and you'll find multiple topics on the best girls, the most significant ones, how society represents them, and so on and so forth. You'll even find your questions posted by earlier visitors to this site! Good luck. Topic closed.
