I have decided that I'm going to keep my models in the order in which the appeared in the films!

@ Tilly Masterson 007, oh right, the uncut taxi is from another collection. i thought you meant that you had received an uncut taxi from this GE Fabbri collection.

The figures don't look that bad - you probably just notice them a bit more because the car is a convertable. Also if you have a look at stills from the film, or indeed the film itself you will see that there is no front licence plate on the car when Bond is driving it.

For example have a look at the stills on:
    http://www.bmwworld.com/media/bond/goldeneye.htm

As for the rear of the car I'm sure that you can see a licence plate on the rear of the car when Wade speeds off it it - but I can't say for certain as It's been ages since I've seen Goldeneye.
Having just returned from visiting the BMW Zentrum in Spartanburg, South Carolina where the actual Z3 they used in the film is on display, I can absolutely assure you it has a front number plate. Perhaps not an actual number plate as such but certainly it has the mounting block on the bumper to screw one. You can see it quite clearly in this photo I took of the car right here: http://img228.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rimg1095ir5.jpg

In fact, to the best of my knowledge, it isn't possible without modification to have a Z3 without a front plate mounting lump. It is integral with the bumper. It's one of the annoying things you have to put up with in the US because most states don't require a front plate to be mounted at all.

in the movie it only has the black mounting block:

Anyone got their DBS From OHMSS yet?

Great car and diorama until you look at the name on the diorama.

    "ASTON MARTIN DB5. GOLDFINGER

Has this happened to all models, or is it just me?

oh no, what a silly mistake to make. haven't received mine yet, but i think everyone who gets one with this error (probably all of us) should contact GE Fabbri, either by phone or email, to complain about it.

my credit card was charged last monday (11th June) but haven't received issues 12 or 13 yet, but expect them any day now. will report back.

I would keep the faulty one, maybe it will become something like a blue Mauritius.

most probably they will let us keep the faulty ones anyway, like they let us keep the models with broken or cracked cases. but that's even if they have any models with the correct base, what if every single model was put on the wrong base? then we're all screwed.
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,618MI6 Agent
well, I have seen the OHMSS diorama with the correct lettering, so, I think, we don't need to worry too much about this.

I received my GoldenEye tank today, but am still waiting for issues 12 and 13, hopefully they'll arrive on Monday.

some pics of the tank, the green is actually darker but the camera flash makes it look bright.

    P1010540.jpg

and a few of shots of it with the F355 to show the larger size of the tank. it didn't occur to me that it would be a larger model and package, but of course it has to be to keep the models all in the same scale, as the tank is obviously larger than the car in real life.

as has been commented on before, the lack of the Bond figure sticking out of the tank is a disappointment, and would have really been a welcomed inclusion. shame they didn't add it. as it is, it just looks like a generic tank model.

it's going for silly money on ebay, i'm not selling mine though.

and has anyone else received their DBS from OHMSS with the wrong writing on the base?
  • s96024s96024 Posts: 1,519MI6 Agent
    Mine has the correct lettering.

Yep, as someone not living where these subscriptions are offered, I paid seriously silly money for that tank! The lack of a Bond figure is not too dismal if you know someone who is creatively inclined. Because there is no dio base, I have no qualms about removing it from its generic package. The hatch technically is in the open position, albeit the actual hole isn't open; it just needs cutting away and having the edges cleaned up a little with sandpaper. I still have a spare Bond/driver figure from Corgi's larger DB5 in 1/36th scale, though the figure is closer to the 1/50th scale that the tank is supposed to be. Otherwise, there are other figure alternatives from railroad lines, etc. Now if I can only set aside the time to hunker down and do it!

i received issues 12 and 13 today, and would you believe it, instead of having the correct or incorrect writing on the base of the DBS, mine has no writing on it at all!

    P1010547.jpg

    P1010548.jpg

I'm going to send them an email asking why this has happened, and if they can replace it or send me one with the correct writing on it.

has anyone else received one with no writing on the base of any of their models?

Wanted to give you a little update on the car collection here in Germany:
We have the collection here since spring:
    http://jamesbondautos.de/

So far, I have received issues 1-5 on my subscription and I am really pleased, that we have here the option to pay after we have received the models. This ensures a quick delivery without being angry having been charged and stuff. 2 deliveries contained damaged top boxes and have been replaced quickly.

Now I receive a letter, that the collection has so far been a market test and, that this test has been successfully. They will start the collection again with nr. 1 and are placing tv ads etc.

What they did not tell me was, that they will be starting in Jan. 2008! which gives us a loooong time to wait for the following models.

We have received the following issues:
    1. Goldfinger DB 5
    2. DAD Vanquish
    3. TSWLM Lotus Submarine
    4. TWINE BMW Z8
    5. FYEO Citroen 2 CV

    Greetings from Germany

I got home from a weekend aaway to find that my friendly neighbour had got a parcel for me - and it was the OHMSS Aston Martin DBS and the DAF Mach 1 Mustang.

I don't know if any of you have been taking the models out of the diorama boxes and looking at them but the detail on them is superb!!!

Has anyone noticed that the DBS has the glovebox open and you can see the red lining and the gun and sniperscope on display through the window! Excellent!

For £8 a model when you consider the cost of a less detailed Corgi model I think that these represent one of the best value for money Bond collectables ever - anyone else agree?

i take it your DBS has the correct writing on the base?

i haven't opened any of my models, but they do look of quite a high standard considering their relatively modest price.

it's silly the way on the 1st inside page of the magazines, it always says "your model of [insert car model] for free with this issue".

obviously the magazine only costs pennies to make, it's the model we're actually paying the majority of the cost for, so in reality we can consider the £7.99 pricetag is for the model and we get the magazine for free.

I think, that they are doing this for tax reasons. In Germany a magazine is taxed with 7%and a model car has 19% tax. I am pretty sure, the same thing exists in the UK.

Collected mine from the Post Office this morning. Both vehicles and magazines in perfect condition - and my DBS also had the correct writing!

I sent an email with attached photo of my DBS to them on monday. later the same day they sent a generic reply asking me to read their FAQ to see if my query is answered there, which obviously it wasn't, and if it isn't answered there, they gave another email address to contact. so I sent the same email and photo to that email but haven't had a reply yet.

Good point - books and magazines in the UK are generally VAT free :)- and if tax is charged on mags (books too?) in Germany, that's another reason why we in the UK should get out now, before the EU add this tax here.:#

I got a reply from them today, she apologised for the fault and said she's put issue 12 on re-order for me and i'll receive it in 7-10 days.

I replied thanking her and told her that they don't need to send the magazine, as the one i received is perfect, it's just the model that needs replacing.
  • Muks_CMuks_C Preston, Lancashire, UKPosts: 100MI6 Agent
got a reply for the same woman today, she said their system doesn't allow them to send only the model or only the magazine, so i'll receive the model and magazine of issue 12. she also said i won't be charged for the replacement and i don't need to return the faulty model.

    that's nice of them :)

Does anyone have any idea when the AMC Hornet from TMWTGG is due to be issued? And, do you think they'll have it spiralling off the bridge?
  • DOUBLE-00DOUBLE-00 ESSEX, ENGLANDPosts: 165MI6 Agent
The AMC Hornet will be with issue number 23, and it is with the corkscrew scene. Hope this helps.
