Yes, it's true. Haggis is coming back for another, um, "dialogue polish." ;)

They also offered him the directors chair, but he turned it down.

    Glad to hear it; of course I have no idea what P&W have cooked up this time round, but knowing that Paul Haggis will be sweeping up behind them again is reassuring... :)

    This will go a long way, I think, toward lending some genuine connectivity between CR and #22.

    Although I wasn't as 'blown away' by CR's script as some here, Haggis's return is still encouraging to me.

    As many people probably know, I dislike Haggis as a writer, and I hate him even more so as a director (so I'm delighted that he's not directing. :D) However I am fully aware that with CR having made half a billion $ in worldwide box office, received several nominations for writing awards and garnered enormous (but not complete :v) critical acclaim, the producers would be fools not to rehire him. So, yes I'm unhappy, but at least the producers have good reason to make me upset. ;)

    I'm really glad that Haggis is back onboard to 'polish' the script for Bond22 - lets hope he has got something decent to 'polish' in the first place.

    I really curious to see how the next script plays out. Haggis is primarily a dramatic writer and I credit him (and Fleming) with all the things that I found good in CR. For a 'Bond' film, however, the film seemed a little light on action to me. Without the constraints of some the original novel's source material, I think it will be interesting to see how Haggis puts it together.

    Considerably great news! I would have prefered, however, that Hagis write the script from the beginning rather than just polish. Nevertheless, its great to have him back on board.

    According to someone I know who is in the know, little of the Haggis version of the CR script actually made it to the screen. Most of what made that script a success was already put in place by P&W.

    Well I must say I am happy Haggis is back on the menu!Parsnip and Wade are not consistently good enough on their own and this way the recipe will be more fulfilling. :)

    That's very interesting. Not much was left out, as I understand it, so that would mean Haggis's rewrite--and subsequent work, he was brought back to do a second rewrite, as I understand it--amounted to next to nothing. Hard to believe they'd ask him back if that were truly the case, but I don't have a friend who's in the know, so what do I know?

    I can believe P&W came up with the basic structure, which was brilliant IMHO, but I'd guess Haggis helped with the transitions, which were brilliant IMHO ( ;) ) and cleaned up a lot of the dialogue. Team effort. Sometimes, it's not just the idea, but how it's presented. I kinda think Haggis had a lot to do with the latter...

    No offence, but I highly doubt the producers would fork out the price tag for Haggis the second time around if this were true...

    I'm a wee bit slow in hearing this news, but it's good nonetheless. I thought he did an admirable job on CR.
