Any Watch Fans Wondering?

I was curious if anyone was wondering what watches may be featured in the upcoming movie? Obviously, I would expect they would stick with Omega for Bond but do you think it will be the Seamaster again? Think the rubber strapped PO will make a return (or now that he is 'refined' is that watch dead)? I dont recall where, but i thought i had heard a rumor that a DeVille model was going to be used???

Anyone have any thoughts?

Not that I have anything against Omega watches, many of them are beautiful timepieces, but I am always hoping for a return to the Rolex, but that's not going to happen.

I haven't heard what timepiece will be used. I just did a Google image search for the Omega Deville and it looks like a very classy dress watch. I always look at the Seamaster as a Sporty Dress watch. Either way I'll be happy. Even with a nice looking Rolex.

Absolutely. Omega are still selling them in vast quantities and they won't kill-off the momentum of sales, just yet.

The dive strap is for water - he'll just wear it with the standard steel bracelet.

Don't you think the PO on a steel bracelet is going to be a bit redundant to the tradaitional Bond seamaster?

...but it does look like he's wearing a PO with a steel band. I like them, I honestly found the Seamaster a bit gaudy, a bit too Brosnan, if you will. I could see Craig's Bond going for something more straight-forward and functional.

Yes - i had also seen that pic before and recognized the PO. It should be interesting to see what watch is featured. I do recall publicity photos at the time of casino royale (in fact, one on the cover of entertainment weekly comes to mind) where DC was also wearing the steel PO. Of course, that did not translate to wearing it in the film but perhaps gives an indication of his own, somewhat, personal preference.

I also see your point re: brosnan look of the Bond seamaster (although, i am wearing it now and dont consider it too gaudy:)). The PO ocean look (on any band) does seem to fit DC's character a bit more - if nothing else because of the size

The EW cover (and most of the posters) featured Craig with a Walther PPK too, which he never used in the movie. It's just a testiment to how big of an operation films are today. They need the artwork on deck before any of the artists has seen a single rush for the film. They're flying blind.
I wonder if Craig was comped the PO and will begin showing up wearing it in magazine ads with the caption "Planet Ocean; Daniel Craig's choice" and on the facing page "Seamaster Professional; James Bond's choice". They did that with Brosnan wearing a DeVille if I recall correctly.
I do like the Seamaster (don't get me wrong, I envy you owning one and salute your choice), but prefer the cleaner lines on the PO. It looks a bit military and really isn't as stylish by today's standards, but I could see Craig's Bond wearing one because when he went civilian he felt he needed an upgrade to go with the pay raise but stayed with what he was comfortable with. But as usual I totally over-analyze these things.

i didnt take your comments as a 'knock' on the Bond seamaster - i too am drawn to the minimalist asthetics of the PO....clearly, the only reasonable solution is to own both (plus, eventually a vintage rolex sub circa connery era):)

I hope they continue to use the Planet Ocean - it's an amazing watch and a huge "bang for the buck". In many ways it is head and shoulders above Rolex (the clasp on the rolex has always been a huge let down for example). That said i enjoy both - the modern Omega for everyday use and the vintage (circa '79) Rolex 5513 Sub. which is an Icon in watch-collecting circles.

Nope! It's a far better-looking watch.

Completely agree Eagle - not only a better looking watch, but better performing watch. I really disliked the the traditional Seamaster's bezel design ... nearly impossible to use while wet ; the new PO bezel edge is quite easy to grip = in or out of the water.
