Newbie Question

I am new to this forum, so must apologise if this has been asked before. I am a great fan of Bond as portrayed by DC, and also of his cars etc. However, I have a question/comment. As I see it, over the two films he did actually wreck two Aston Martin DBS's, the second one in the first five minutes! Is that right? So MI6 gave him two to play with at cost of £170,000 each and both written off! He must be one of their more expensive agents!

You are right. - The second car is a different colour from the first, and lets face it, the first was effectvely a right off. - Certainly the extensive work it would have needed could not have been done in time for the timeframe of QOS.

The same issue re expensies could be added to Bond's travel standards, hotel accomodation, and technology (two different mobile phones in months,) to say nothing of his entrirely designer wardrobe, including tailoring!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

The idea of Bond trashing 'company cars' has essentially evolved into a cliche to the point that we don't even notice it anymore.

In the novels, Bond's taste for luxury and performance vehicles was a personal one. The Bentley was his own vehicle and had some special features added by MI6. This carried over in the films a bit, when in Goldfinger, Bond asked Q where his Bentley was and Q told him "It's had its day' and gave him the Aston Martin instead. If you want to try and wrap your head around the 'reboot/chronology' enigma posed by CR, you could say that the Aston Martin Bond won in the poker game was the same vehicle in GF, and that Q branch was outfitting Bond's 'other' car instead of the Bentley. How Bond's taste in high-class automobiles became MI6's taste in cars is something of a mystery. Especially given that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to be outfitting secret agents facing dangerous situations with the more expensive and inconspicuous of vehicles. But it's one of those silly things that we love about Bond...:)

Thanks, I suppose they had to wreck it in dramatic style for the sake of the story, but will they give him a third?

Going by the sort of expences our mp's in the uk are getting I wouldn't be too upset about Bond's use of company cars :D

Who knows...if DC lands the role in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang remake, we could see something like it. ;)

That's not so far fetched. . .Craig did some singing in Infamous (I think that's the title of that "other" Truman Capote movie), and he actually sounded pretty good. He could do justice to "Hushaby Mountain," and, unlike Dick Van Dyke, he can do a variety of English accents!

Yes and we will see DC just write it off like the last few cars. I think he has done well though out of 4 cars: Ford (Rental), Aston (Poker Win) and the two DBS's he only wrecked two.
