OMG where The Scope?

Hi guys im a HUGE Bond fan but like a lot of others i was not impressed with Daniel Craig taking up the role (i was one of the people that signed the petition to boycott Casino Royale due to Craig taking up the role of Bond). Anyway after not seeing Casino Royale due to stubborness i decided what the heck i love bond so ill give it a shot. I enjoyed the film but still say Craig aint a good Bond. Now to my point i just watched Quantum of Solace, where in the hell is the bond in the rifle scope followed by the blood running down the screen in the title sequence??? This has truely shocked and annoyed me!

Id like to add the reason Craig doesnt do it for me is the fact that Bond is supposed to be the stereotypical perfect male ie tall, dark and handsome Craig is non of those.

Welcome to the forum Bond Fan_007. You won't be surprised we've discussed much of this before regarding Craig's suitability. As for the gunbarrel, it's at the end of QoS, admittedly sort of tacked on. Maybe it will start the next one, but I think with Craig they wanted to break the mold and do things differently. That includes missing a lot of the James Bond theme in CR, dropping Q and Moneypenny and the dreamy credits sequence with a lush ballad. Personally I could see them going further than this but fans already differ on whether these traditional staples aid or hamper enjoyment of this reboot.

A Bond film without Q, Miss Moneypenny and the rifle scope intro is like a sandwich without the bloody bread! I am admittedly one of the biggest Bond nerds around but im seriously questioning my future faith in the franchise ive loved all my life. Its bad enough they got a light haired actor playing Bond but now they are really taking the michael! Are the producers crazy? Havent they ever heard the phrase 'if it aint broke dont fix it' ? My signature says it all for me folks.

I wouldn't bet money against the gun barrel turning up in the next one. I'm sure it will be at the begining where it always was. I'm not bothered that Craig is fair haired. Connery was bald after all, and Roger was ginger in AVTAK. Most viewers accept that it is merely a role. Felix always used to white, not many people mention that little shocker. But then again, I think he's the best Felix Leighter to date.

I hated the fact that it was at the end, but I really need to correct you here, it is the barrel of a gun, not a scope. Sorry to nitpick. Either way though, it was bloody awful.

Scottmu65 I completely agree. It was a gunbarrel, not a scope.

But then again, one can hardly can hardly expect an intelligent comment from somebody stupid enough to sign a petition against Daniel Craig in Casino Royale without having actually seen the movie.

This is almost as bad as the post made a few months ago from somebody complaining that George Lazenby wasn’t any good, and he hadn’t seen OHMSS either. 8-)

He meant why would you sign a petition before actually seeing the film, as in giving it a chance first before you judge the film and Craig.

Thanks Walther P99, that's exactly what I mean.

But it's nice to see that Bond Fan_007 is of the opinion that I know it all... :v

First I have to remind everyone to remain civil and be respectfull of eachother. Bondfan 007 wasn't around at the time, but AJB was allmos torn apart by the two sides after teh casting was anonced.

About the gunbarrel: I am (almost :v ) willing to bet the gunbarrel wil be back at the begining of the movie in Bond 23.

About Craig: everyone is entitled to an opinion about him, but we have to have some facts in mind.
-Craig is now an intrernational sex-symbol
-Craig has gotten almost exlusively good (many very good) reviews for his portrial of 007. He even got a BAFTA.
    - CR and QoS are international box office hits

I have watched both films this week and they get a little better they just take getting used to.The gunbarrel scene reminds me of the Timoty Dalton Bonds if you look at craig when he is walking on screen when he shoot at the screen it reminded me of TD's opening scenes.I did not like Greene's assistant the one who fields trips down the stairs he was a bit flat:))

I just realized that it's been 10 years since we've had a normal movie-opening gun barrel sequence. Crazy huh?

:x yes indeed - although to me he was a sex symbol way before 007 :D

....ahh, this is not strictly true. He got a nomination - the first nomination for Bond agreed, but only a nomination :(

Absolutely, and long may his tenure of Bond, make them so {[]
