For a second I got excited thinking the play was coming to the UK...then I saw Broadway. I can always live in hope it tours to London.

Another success. Thanks Double-00 and Tilly. And DrNo07, your postings are certainly not wasted. I managed to get both Samantha Bond and Alan Cumming. Ms Bond was sooo pleasant and jolly. Alan was great too. I certainly owe some drinks to you! Thanks again - can't believe i didn't do this before. Keep the tips going - couldn't do this without your posts.

Met with Johnathan Pryce at the Everyman Theatre today. I had read before that he seems to like using the front door and that's where I caught him. He seemed to be running a little late as he seemed quite rushed as he arrived, but he still had time to be very pleasant. Roll on 2010 and meeting Gemma!

    Brilliant!

Did he sign anything for you?

He is usually good at signing TTM. He has signed for me many times TTM.
  • PaulWestonPaulWeston Midlands, UKPosts: 119MI6 Agent
Yes he did sign, however I only asked for one as he was rushed. He signed the photo of him as Mr Carver sitting down next to Mr Stamper. I also got a photo with him. He's still there until 31st Oct and there was no-one else there waiting for him to arrive - so an almost guaranteed personal autograph if someone wanted to make the trip.

Joseph Millson ( CARTER in Cas. Roy. ) will be appearing at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs from 19th Nov-9th Jan 2010. It also stars Diana Riggs daughter Rachel Stirling.
  • PaulWestonPaulWeston Midlands, UKPosts: 119MI6 Agent
Just looked at Joseph Millson site and he's also currently in theatre. Judgment Day at the Almeida theatre until the 17th Oct 2009. Shame I didn't know when I was in London on the 5th Sep. Darn!

I wrote to Joseph Millson when he was staring in Every Boy Deserves Favour at the Southbank and asked him to sign 4 or 5 screengrabs for me and Jamie (Tilly Masterson). He signed all the photos and wrote me a nice note back too. So, you might not need to come all the way down to London again - write to him at the Stage Door and I'm certain he will oblige.

Rory Kinnear will be at the Almeida Theatre, London from 11th Feb 2010, and Julian Rhind-Tut ( Tom. Never Dies ) will be at Hampstead Theatre from 3rd Dec 2009.

Another chance to catch the beautiful Rosamund Pike. She is to return to the West End in a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler. She will be at the Theatre Royal, Bath in Feb 2010, before a short tour and transfer into the West End.
As I didn't get a photo with her last time, I'm sure to try and meet her again in 2010.
    Updated:
In Nottingham 22nd - 27th March and in the West End around mid April.

Mainly for our American friends here, but Christopher Walken will be appearing at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway from March 4th 2010. I have also read that this play will come to London at some stage with the same cast, so a little way off yet, but it`s got me excited to meet the quite elusive Mr Walken.
  • Tilly Masterson 007Tilly Masterson 007 UKPosts: 1,472MI6 Agent
I didn't think Walken was the type of actor to do stage work - oh well.

Great to see he's been announced anyway, and that it will be heading to London after Broadway with the original cast intact! :)

I would be very surprised if Chris Walken signs at all, whether that be TTM or IP, as I know he aint a big fan of signing autographs and as you said Eddie, he is quite elusive as it is.........I guess time will tell on that one. 8-)

He seems to share Steven Berkoff's persona, and they both do the same kind of work (intense projects.)

    Thanks for letting us know about Chris Walken - might give him a try TTM. -{

Thanks for the heads-up on that one. I don't have a dedicated one from him!

Rolf Saxon who played Philip Jones in Tomorrow Never Dies, will be touring the UK in the play Frankie & Johnny. It will be at the Palace theatre in Westcliff, Essex from 25-29 Jan 2010, and then other regional theatres before, I believe going into Londons west end. It will also be starring Kelly Mc Gillis .

Another chance for Judi Dench at the Rose theatre in Surrey. A Midsummer Night's Dream 9th Feb 2010 - 20 Mar 2010

I missed Joseph Millson. But I'll get another chance to catch him at the Adelphi theatre in Love Never Dies from 26th Feb 2010 - 10th Sep 2010.

Also spotted that the rumoured Bond 23 director Sam Mendes is directing 2 performances. First one from 12th June - 21st August at the Old Vic theatre in As You Like It. Second one on the 18th June.
Do directors turn up for the actual performances or do they just direct before the play is released?
  • ttdriverttdriver Posts: 202MI6 Agent
Most stage directors make an appearance on opening night and then are off to another project...unless there is a compelling reason to attend multiple performances.
  • Disco VolanteDisco Volante Surrey, EnglandPosts: 543MI6 Agent
The Rose Theatre is in Kingston, so not too far from my house - despite having about 10 of Judi's autographs, I've only met her once so might give this a go.

Good question about Directors - I genuinly don't know but it would be a good chance to get his. Whilst Mendes is a fabulous director, if he directs Bond 23, he status will surely rocket updawards?

Thanks for the info there Paul - might give Dench a try for the....ooh.......100th time!! She always signs TTM, in other words, she's great to her fans! I've written countless times to her.

I'm not sure if the directors actually turn up for every performance. But I would have thought they would given the fact that anything could happen i.e. a cast member is unwell and they need an immediate stand in/replacement. Therefore, that additional cast member is gonna need some direction!!!

Usually the Stage Manager handles any understudy-illness-tragedy that happens for a performance. In my experience Directors move on after preview performances/opening night. I too(as a set and lighting designer) make opening night, but leave it to the SM and crew after that.

Result. Just got Gemma Arterton's autograph and a photo with her on Saturday. She was sooo pleasant (and gorgeous!). She made sure she signed everyone in the big crowd that gathered and happily chatted as she went along.
She then got mobbed by 3 photographers walking away from the theatre.
Had to wait until after the performance as she turned up late for matinee and apologised but refused to sign on the way in. This meant many hours of hanging around - worth it though.
Was lucky, as she hasn't been coming out to sign for a few nights, as she hasn't been feeling well. Fellow collectors were keeping their fingers crossed on Sat that she would show and that she wouldn't get put off by the paps again.

Great result - gonna post the piccie?

I was just around the corner on Friday afternoon but couldn't get away from a meeting. I'll leave it a few weeks to calm down about (the play only opened last week) and then try.
